Thanks for the wish, bro.

I did my police report and affidavit on Monday 28 November. I have submitted both copies with a petition to Etisalat head office at Banana island and GTB's anti-fraud unit at Awolowo opp polo club. They acknowledged receipt of the documents. I also went to LASU branch to submit above documents. I spoke to a lawyer. I think I am doing my best. It's also the reason I am alerting fellow N'landers to "shine your eye" fraudster are on the roll, and GTB *737 is super vulnerable.
What are you doing about the person whose name money was transferred to, the N200k? Union needs to know it was unauthorised so they put a lien on its withdrawal or spend.

The police can trace the union bank guy and arrest him to get a refund. That's the only sure way.

This particular scam has been on for a year. Banks susceptible include GTB, Access, Zenith, Sterling and Ecobank. Poorly paid telecom staff charge the cyber criminals around 25-70k to help them swap a victims phone number. The criminals also buy accounts for 20-25k to cash out the funds.

Sorry for your loss.

For others hoping to avoid this, ask your network provider to move your sim to "manager" swap. That way, it can only be retrieved by a very senior official.

If nah Snake matter now, You go don see am for FP!

This is a serious matter that requires urgent assistance and this Man has been calling on the MODS, sending mails yet they seem so reluctant to do something. In a situation like this I think we need to collectively look for a way to stop crime and not a way to pity who is concerned. Abi MODS now need tips to do something?

My advice is that you take this up on there Facebook and Twitter handle (Etisalat and Gtb). You will be contact As immediate as Possible.

Cuz as days is passing by, your case is slowing down , and some people will start consoling you to take heart and accept fate.

Don't be surprised when your lawyers start preaching about Leaving everything for God.

Buy a 10k tecno, download twitter, downloaded FB. Attack them... On every post, attract them , on the profile , attack them. They will fix your issue immediately.

Safe!

Gbam, and imagine.. The thread was just pushed to FP. Very biased, incompetent set of MODS. I know they are gonna ban me for bashing them due to their incompetence but I don't care. I can't imagine something sensitive such as this just getting to FP. If it's Tonto Dikeh's butt and Snakes, it will be fast forwarded to FP...

They are so much in love with Mercy Johnson's cleavage than reasonable topics. 21st century mods claiming the wisdom of Solomon. Even my 1 year plus boy knows the right thing to do at the right time.

Some amount were transferred to a union bank account, the investigation by police should start from there, there is a name the person has an address and bvn, he can certainly be traced by police if you are ready to follow up and spend money as they will ask for logistics

Hmm, I've always thought about the possibility of such happening, scary and discouraging, even though it's my most used form of banking now..i think the bank should increase the security level, not just the last digit of your card.

Na big wao!
In a situation like this one is left wondering, how does the system work? Will the police investigate after my deposition and police report? Will the bank ask the police to investigate? Will Etisalat conduct an in house investigate?

The truth is none of these companies have called me to gather more info to aid their investigation. It makes me feel like they don't care. Or to them 260,000 is a change. Well, I pray they get my more back. I need that money in this time of recession.
I'm tweeting this. GTBank or Etisalat won't get back to you in a hurry. They will once it gets out there and they are getting embarrassed. Once again sorry about this.
They don't care. Zero customer service, zero empathy.

The OP has been refunded by GTbank which is commendable, now GTbank through their fraud unit will pursue the guy in union bank to get their money and prosecution, one thing am sure of is with BVN he can only run but can't hide or should not use any bank again as his BVN will be flagged by CBN, he will be caught certainly

You guys don't get it, do you? The reason it didn't make front page until his money was refunded is simple. Nairaland is like every other corrupt entity in this country. Nairaland makes a lot of money from these big organizations via ad placement. That's why Nairaland mods refused to push it to FP. But now that the OP's money has been refunded, they immediately pushed it to FP, in order to give good publicity to GT bank.

I'm very disappointed at the mods. There is a good reason why things don't work in this country.

the answer the m.o.d.s will give is they don't know if the report is legit. but they will be send fake news daily and counter news of the the fake story sent to front page with speed.
since Dec 1 just scroll through, you will be amazed at the news gracing front page.
I think nairaland is competing with lindaikeji just for traffic purpose.

meanwhile, zenith was using just *302# to recharge before, I bought a new line and sent text to my contact of the development then kept the line registered to zenith account at home codely (I only check it to verify alert) because anybody can take your phone recharge, even to another number but recently they added pin verification to it.

Gbam, very wicked mods. At this point, my opinion is that, this forum is better off without mods. In other words, their job here is useless. Only thing they are good at is to hit the ban button and push what my 1year plus old boy won't push to FP... They need to be tutored about their responsibilities... Seun, do something before your so called mods ruin the credibility of this forum.

I was banned one certain time coz I condemned their actions. It all boils down to the fact that they reject the truth and the opinion of members. They love ife inĂș...

Whether you eat in Kingston joe or shop in shoprite or whether you use an atm printer anywhere,it will still print the last 4 digits of the card.

Don't rush to conclude that a GTB and etisalat staff did this. You may have been careless. The truth about such cases is after the full investigation you might be the guilty party because your card and phone number were both with you when this occurred.
Just report your case to a reputable police station, GTB and etisalat and wait for them to conclude the investigation.

postemail:

Morning Nutase.
I know I have been super careful in my bank dealings. I don't do online(computer) banking. I don't do banking on my smart phone. In fact I use an old "dumb" Nokia touch phone for my GTB transaction (*737#). See photo. How careful can this get? I don't even use my ATM card. It's tucked away in my safe. I just memorized the last four digits of my ATM card. I have never lost my "Nokia touch" phone. I mean, I think I have been super careful knowing that my business transaction are done on this GTB account.

Now Etisalat have my photo and finger print. How can someone else use another SIM to swap my number if not with an insider at one of their experience centers as they are called?

How can a bank use the last four digits of an ATM card as a pin with no option of changing this default pin? I know guys working in the industry and it's possible for a not-so-high ranking staffer to see an ATM card number on finacle.

Bro, how have I been careless?

Sorry for the loss bro, but to say the fact, from the way you narrate your ordeal, I can easily tell the kinda person you are...Your attitude caused it, some people are millionaires but you would never know from the way they behave, while some are thousandnaire but behave like billionaires cool

Once again, sorry for the loss, you would recover it back as I have experienced exactly something like this before and got everything back to the last kobo.

Now this bank is beginning to piss me off. How they charge me 488 for one month's SMS alert?

Guy, u are not alone in this ! GTB is really beginning to annoy me. I was charged over 470 naira(can't remember exact amount) in October, 2016 for SMS alert. I asked them if I was sending bulk SMS. I used to sing the praises of GTB to high heavens but after the death of their visionary CEO Tayo Aderinokun, the bank has completely lost it. I have always questioned the reasoning behind using the last 4 digit of your ATM card as PIN ab initio !

OP, sorry about the loss and inconveniences.
Thinking of your case, Etisalat staff that did swap on your number has a unique username, so he will be caught for swaping your number, there are certain questions to ask and answer before sim swap is done, including having picture of the sim owner on the system.

As for GTB, they are falling in standard in terms of good service delivery. Imagine gtb charging me twice today for service charge.
Calling gtconnect is waste of time, they have bunch of rude Customer care agents there. I remembered recently an account of mine was blocked, I kept calling gtconnect and the guy there was very unfriendly and rude.
