My brother, investment is all about risk taking. Sincerely speaking I made 76% (Through Total and Mobil) this year, lost 7% in FBNH. Please note that I learnt a good lesson from the 49% I lost through Oando in 2015, no thanks to Tinubu's empty promises about Oando/Conocco Philips matter.

Mehn! I don't want to sound naive but I was expecting guys here to be realizing between 80-200% ROI for the year ended. Unless you guys are trading with large capital sha. Fear catch for that guy asking N100 million question! Na hedge fund hm dey run? Anyways sha, I want to appreciate y'all. You are all super intelligent and 2017 will be a better year for all of us.
Thank You.

Investment wise, the year was a good one for me. I made 100.8% gain trading stocks and it happened to be my first year of active trading. Though my trading capital is currently a small amount, I intend to grow it aggressively by trading purely stocks. Well, I'm not a novice in this market. I have followed the market for over ten years now but I still have a lot to learn hence my happiness to have found a forum of this kind. I still have to sharpen my execution skills because I think I'm still failing a little there and it actually cost me a lot of money. If not I should have been looking at between 150% - 200%.

I thank you all for your very useful contribution.

DID ANYONE MAKE ABOVE 30%?

Two users I believe did better than 30% - fxuser and bigjay01

Thank you for alerting the forum early enough to the opportunity in UCAP and DANGFLOUR early in the year!

Overall the main lesson for next year is to have at least one third of my portfolio in fx or bitcoin...

Happy holidays to the NSEMPA crowd

I've been passively reading about stocks since my secondary school days, for the last 2 months I have been religiously following and reading this thread (I tried starting from the beginning but decided to continue from the end - the thread long well and I need to get up to speed fast) I am confident to enter the market actively next year, and I want to use this opportunity to thank you all for your insightful posts. I hope when I come asking questions I'll be put through. Thanks and a prosperous 2017.

Good question... Honestly, it's a case of yes and no for yours truly...Stocks I made a kill from include, MOBIL, TOTAL, DANCEM, NBL, DANFLOUR, SKYE...Stocks that gave me below 30%; GTB, Livestock

Loss producing stocks include; Guinness, GSK, Fidelity, Zenith, CCNN, crazy Champion, Oando, Seplat (bought at #650 and had to take massive loss to move on but retained just few units for future recovery).

Capital exposure to the market is over 10M

With the good news of oil recovery, government's plan to float euro bonds and push for a true flexible exchange rate I am certain 2017 will be greener grin

Happy new year in advance folks.

I sold FBNH 3 months ago because it has not lived up to my expectation. Meanwhile, I know of someone on this forum (name witheld for privacy sake) that made about 105% this year through Mobil alone (over N40m in cash).

You're expecting people to make 80-100%, this must be easy. How many % did you return personally?
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 8:33am On Dec 31, 2016
Guess this thread has helped many people . I dont know if FBNH was a mistake for me.Lost over 16% on it total 2.4m , i might sale back if it get to 3.5 again.

I think 80% of people who made money did that within the JAN/FEB when all were down. If i was trading too by then.I would av made over 100% as well.

I'LL TRY MY BEST THIS YEAR AT LIST I CAN MANAGE 50% , I PRAY I MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION.

I am down -14.28% overall but I have not sold in years, I just buy.

My biggest movers were Dangote Flour, NewGold.
And the worst FBNH, Oando and NAHCO (They represent approx. a third of my entire portfolio 33.64%)

Do you work full time on this? You do get into a lot of stocks. Why not specialise on just one or two sectors? You may do better with your high capital base.

If FBNH get's back to #3.50 it may take ten years befor you see it below #4 and if you sell at #3.50 you will call your self bad names. If i enter FBNH back next year no more jijo with it for me o. Do your own home work .

No i don't. I have practice the approach before and didn't get me close to my Investment targets. However, my current strategy seems to be working as I do not get tied down to few stocks but allow reallocation of capital within my portfolio for maximum gain and loss minimisation...Let me point out that losses suffered on the stocks mentioned were due to bad entry price and poor timing.
