Austinpee4:
Your purpose of visit will be questioned at any attempt to apply for a study permit with an advanced diploma. This is a NO NO! One thing to note is that, gaining admission is one thing and getting a study permit is another. You have a bsc and an msc..A diploma is NOT an academic progression for you considering your academic level. If you choose to apply for a masters instead, you may which to leave out the previous one you got out totally in your study permit application while explaining circumstances surrounding any academic gap(s). Choose a program that is best related to your previous education and study interest and relate this to your situation as you show a progression academically and career wise.
Eraytee:
I think i will disagree with you on that, i av a friend who's a geologist, and had msc in petroleum geology and presently at SAIT for a 2yrs pgd in petroleum engineering technology, he declared his msc and was given TRV. Every1's case is different, phd or msc is not a must, if u av a good SOP and and a tite app u'll get ur TRV.

I'll have to agree with @Austinpee4 here. The probability of visa denial is much much much higher when the program one is going for is lower than one's highest educational attainment. Having said this, it is not impossible to get a TRV in such situations (as @Eraytee said, the applicant in this situation has to have a very tight and extra convincing app for this to happen). I'd suggest anyone reading this to recognize that it is the exception, and not the norm, to get a TRV for a program that is below your highest educational qualification.

I intend traveling to Canada to study Business Administration either PGD or certificate programme in a college in Vancouver or Prince george.
And my sponsor gave me a budget of about 1.5million naira
1.How is it possible to pursue the dream with the said amount judging that school fees is about 12,000 Canadian dollars on the average for the two colleges I intend applying to.
2.Is there any place I can source Canadian dollars from to avoid the madness in U.S dollar so as to save cost in paying my school fees
3.I have decided to go through agents who are good in helping people secure visa, can I actually save more and get a chance of securing the visa if i do it my self?
toluene1234:
There shouldn't be a problem to your 1.5m if it is d closing balance on your sponsor account and there is a good inflow and outflow in dat account. In addition to dat, if your sponsor source of income can be easily verifiable and all docs supporting his source of income are provided, then you are good to go. Note: I know someone who has #150 as closing balance but 15M+ as inflow and outflow and still get his trv. Good luck to all trv hopefuls.

I'll have to disagree with @toluene1234 here. It is extraordinarily unlikely (though not impossible) to get a visa with a closing balance lower than your annual costs (tuition +$10k CAD). Yes, once in a while we see a candidate or two get approved with a lower balance but this is far away the exception. CIC clearly states that they need to see this amount on the sponsor's bank statement (and/or other liquid funds e.g. brokerage, fixed deposit, etc), violating this requirement is an almost guaranteed way to get denied for "insufficient funds", particularly given the anemic state of the Nigerian economy.

Admittedly, good inflows on a bank statement show financial capability but this is only valuable to the extent that the sponsor has enough liquid funds at least equal to the CIC requirement. Submitting an app with finances below the CIC requirement is gambling, and your probability of losing that gamble is greater than 90%.

If you have misplaced the yellow slip otherwise known as collection slip. You would have to go to a police station to collect a letter (police report) stating you misplaced that and you would also have to go to a court for an affidavit in respect of that also. Pls be informed that without these two letters you wont be given your passport. There re no penalty fees or anything for loss of the slip. Just those two letters (documents)

Source: I asked when I visited VFS recently.

Good day friends, please i plan to reapply for study visa which was recently turned down. Reasons given were: 1) Purpose of visit 2) Family ties in home country and in canada (whatever that means). Requested for gcms notes but trying to work on SOP at the interim. Please i need an expert in house to help review my efforts so far. Not so certain how to end it and whether to make reference to the fact that i was refused previously.

Please someone should help me out. God bless.

My people, our people... I have an issue here, kindly tell me what you think could b happening. I did medical last year and was delayed. On how I submitted new application on October 9th which I included the medical result as upfront, (was still valid as of the time I submitted) I linked my application and about 2weeks later it was updated as passed. To my surprise I got another update and noticed medical passed had changed from 'MEDICAL PASSED'to 'NOT NEEDED AT THIS TIME'.
I wrote the cic twice and no serious response yet if I'm to do another medical or so, all I got is, if the application is still within processing time they won't respond. Please people I want to know if this has happened to anyone on here, could this be a tech error or what, I'm so confused but not scared. Anything they like make them do ooo... I don try. This is my third attempt. Any advise is welcome. Thanks all... Wishing us a prosperous new year.

You don't need to buy CAD coz actually no one will sell CAD for you. What bank sell for you is USD. I don't know what you paying for, if it is school fees, you either buy USD straight from the bank or you open a Dom account , buy usd from aboki or anyone and deposit it into your Dom account.
As regards sustaining yourself with little job, ofcourse you can, in as much as that's not where you intend to source all your tuition fees. You can always have your 20hrs/week job but I can bet you that's just for "sustainance" like you mentioned.

I hope this help

Its difficult to offer you any advice without knowledge about your profile, what program were you going for? What's your qualification? Is there any relationship betw your qualification/experience with your intended program? If its undergraduate, how old are you? These are some of the issues that bring about purpose of visit. Do you have to tell the house so that one can know from which perspective they would tackle the vo's reason.

I don't know why the someone advised you not to go for PHD, you can actually give the PHD a trial as you are applying for the MSC. PHD will obviously gives you an edge.

Bro, I'm not a vo, but l easily can points one or two red flags on your profile. A lot have been said on here as regards the risk in PGD in HRM for someone who don't have either a qualification in HRM or working experience in HRM. Without repeating what has been said, if this is the only course you think you can do may be by the virtue of your result or something, your best way to tackle the purpose of visit is to provide as many as possible, convincing evidence of your previous job experience that is directly in HRM. Or else, You may want to try another course that is closely related to your degree.
However, which ever course you decided to put in for, you have to back it up with a good no of years of working experience. This is important as an explanation for the gap in education considering your age. You also will have to give a very tangible reason on why you have to get the qualification at this stage of your career.
So all in all, providing good evidences (most especially for your working experience) and a very convincing SOP can do the magic for you.

I hope this helps

You should have seen the major reasons for the delay already... I will advise you post the summary part of your GCMS notes if you have one.... So we can have an idea on resolving the family ties part....the purpose of visit violation is clearly expressed by your choice of proposed program.... 70 SoPs will not convince even me about any possible relationship between LLB law and HRM!..
Guys, HRM is not the only program in Canada!!!!.... Let's avoid wasting time and money.

Sure... There's now law or regulations against it... you should however be clear about his intentions in the LoE... Please do this rightly OK....

It makes better sense to request for him to go with you and ensure you settle down before he returns to his work..... Mention his ties to Nigeria, employment, finances including pension, itinerary to and from Canada, hotel/accommodation and flight reservation.

Does it not raise some suspicion that he wants to visit before you now again travel in May??
Best of luck!

I agree there aren't too many options.... But still, there are!!
Pls do an extended research on this and consider some well aligned PGDs.... Social work... Community & justice services..... Correctional workers.... and the likes (just thinking).
When you put up an application using any of these.... your SoP will complete the job for you.. Sound it loud that the PGD is a progression to achieve your LLM.
But trust me, don't defer on that same HRM!
