Hello house. I have been following this thread for a while now I'm pregnant I can join in finally! I'm a July mom and I'm in a bit of a fix. I have family members in North Carolina and I will most likely be having my baby there to save on accommodation costs cos the dollars hmm. I see El paso and Houston are the more popular places to go. But by any chance has anyone here gone to North Carolina for birth or knows someone that has. I'll like to know about how affordable it is and if possible doctors.
Thank you for your responses.

Grateful we are in part 5. Let me reproduce my burning issue here for help.
Good day great people of this platform. Please, I need some clarifications on how I can send about $2000 from Nigeria to my DW in the US. DW just put to bed via cesarean section, which we never planned for. She has had two uncomplicated vaginal deliveries in the past, but the doctors over there discovered that the baby was in distress and they had to do the CS. However, to the glory of God Almighty, DW and LO are doing great without any form of complications. I was told to do money gram, but the guy I spoke to about it in the bank wasn't so explicit on the procedures. He also said I can't send up to $2000.
Urgent advice needed please.
Slimwendy85, Dere5 and Shamecurls, thanks for the response. I'm going to ask about the Form A and details of the moneygram ASAP.
just pm me i will help u do that free of charge

my DW is also an August mum wishing to travel June. she had a visa already but she has not contacted any hospital in Houston for now . She is intending to give birth in Houston because her firs child was born in Maryland in 2014, which was very expensive. We would be very glad if u can give us more information about Houston North west medical centre and a doctor that we can contact. If possible u pm through this email: latifatagboluaje@gmail.com

It's amazing how lazy people have become on this thread. If only u can read back or better still use the search column to look for what u want under travel. Most questions being ask has already been answered. This is not a question and answer thread but a read it urself platform. Gracias!!!

You mean correspondence from doctoresparati? If yes, I think you will have no choice but to pay the enrollment fees to get it.

I had my visa interview yesterday 05.01.17 in Lagos with my DW and LO. Quite simple and straightforward.

Me: hello? (while tossing in our passports through the hole)
VO: is she your daughter?
Me & DW: yes our daughter
VO: why are u going to the US?
Me: to have our baby
VO: have you ever been outside your country?
Me: yes, UK with my wife and Ghana for my professional exam.
VO: what do you do?
Me: I'm bla bla bla with bla bla bla
VO: what do you do?
DW: i'm a home maker
VO: ok
VO: what do you do in your company?
Me: I bla bla
VO: what's your budget for this trip?
Me: a little above $16,000.00
VO: do you have any sort of statement to show?
Me: yeah (passed my statement from my stockbroker, bank statement and pension statement)
She paid more attention on the pension (date of commencement, balance, employer name)
VO: how do you intend to pay for this?
Me: I would be self paying, I've been investing in stocks for this and from other savings (note share value plenty and pension plenty too but 1m in my bank account)
VO: what's your company into?
Me: downstream oil & gas company
VO: your visa would be ready for pickup in 3 business days from now.
Me: thank you

Hello House,

Its been lovely following all the posts on this thread from Part 1 to 5. I especially found posts by @MiddyO and @NikkyK on OB Packages available at JPS Hospital very useful. Infact i have sent emails to them requesting them to contact me so i can ask for further information and clarification, but i am still awaiting feedback from them because the nairaland system requires them to reply me since we were not previously connected. While i wait for their response, i may be able to get some information from the house, hence this general post.

I intend to travel to the US on the 1st of April to have my LO. My sister is a US Citizen who lives in Tarrant County with her family and i will be staying with her for the period i am in the US and she will also assist me with getting the Temporary Tarrant County ID which will qualify me to enjoy the JPS Hospital discounted OB packages. My Parents are also Green Card Holders, so my Mum will be around to help also. I have a few questions however

1. I didn't see any thread on how one can get in touch with doctors affiliated with JPS Hospital, all is saw was Doctor's fee of $1,500. so if any one knows how i can get in touch with a doctor affiliated with the hospital so i can obtain Doctor's correspondence, this will be very useful. PS. my sister already called the hospital on my behalf, but they said they only register in person, which means i cant get registered or assigned a doctor through the Hospital until i am in the US, and i would appreciate doctor's correspondence now for POE purposes.

2. I also want to know if tests done in Nigeria were acceptable for those that have used JPS hospital, and if they are, i need information on the tests i should conduct so i can do them from here. If not, i would like to know how much the prenatal tests cost asides from the Doctor and Hosp fees which i know already.

3. I have a valid B1/B2 US visa which i have renewed once through the dropbox process. The current one was obtained in 2015 and will expire in July 2017. (i intend to be back in Nigeria before it expires). I wasn't married yet when i got the visa and i have traveled to the US twice already on the current visa. This trip to have the baby will be my third trip on the current visa. I want to know if i still need to mail the Consular office to declare a notification/change of intent to go and have a baby since i have been to the US not less than 6 times in total.

4. DH is a green card holder and lives and works in the US while i live and work in Nigeria. We have no intention of relocating me and the baby to the US for a few more years, therefore he hasn't filed for a green card for me and i am not ready to quit my Job also. I want to know if this will be an advantage or a disadvantage at the POE, if i get asked questions about my husband, where he is and what he does? i wouldn't want to be sent back just because my husband lives in the US already.

It's important you show some correspondence with a doctor /or hospital as a basis for the amount of money you've set aside for the birth. Please do not mention anything about getting a temporary ID for discounts. That won't help you in any way.

Question 3 - No, you don't need to write a change of intent letter since you've already used the visa for the purpose it was originally intended. I confirmed this from the AbujaNIV before my wife and I arrived the US in December and it didn't come up at the POE.

Question 4: I'll say go prepared with all the prerequisites - cash preferably or other proof of financial capacity, correspondence with the hospital, letter from your doctor etc. If everything checks out, they probably won't ask anything about your husband....in my experience. But if they do, best you answer truthfully and be prepared to prove you still have strong ties with Nigeria (a letter from your employer perhaps?).

Hi pls can you shed more light on this statement.

True. I was there earlier today with my wife and they confirmed that as of Jan 1, 2017, the the new prices are $5,000 for vaginal and $7,000 for CS. Heard other Houston hospitals are likely to review their prices too, so best to choose one and register asap.

Email sent to everybody who asked for the attachment . Even Houston north west fee is on review. So it will go up soon. I wonder why their prices are going up this year.

Thank you. I got it.. I am really confuse. I am due in May and intend travelling at 36 weeks. They don't take wire transfers and you have to pay at 7 months. No letter to the embassy and all.

What do you advice please

Yes this is correct.

Spoke to the financial counsellor and she said prices have not changed but I saw a documentation that said it's now $5000 for hospital. Me I dan port. Houston Methodist no be by force.

I'm wary of paying early. I will continue scouting to see what gives.

What you find is that once you pay cash before delivery you should be ok.

You may need to find another hospital that is willing to give you correspondence and use that for embassy purposes.

I thought of that and was skeptical. Hope it won't pose a problem for me? I am already working on oakbend hospital correspondence though. So I could use that. But at the PRE it is whatever hospital I use in getting my visa that I must tender to immigration?

Just use the same correspondence for application and poe. You can always change your mind when you enter.
