its even funny to me that one will want to spend that much for funeral of someone who is not family or no sexual history with in this recession. At least he wont spend less that 800k for flight etc. The story is somehow but I might be wrong. Just had to scrol pass the story before they abuse my great great grandfather

you should ways look at the bigger picture.... is visiting visa a miracle or a life changing event ?? ..... why bring God into it ........ What is the point of him using all his limited finance which he stated is small just to attend a funeral

If u think at least the visa can make him remain in America once he has crossed . There is no joy living illegal in America. Its very difficult and the person can be stuck in one spot for years with no progress.

That story can be link to migrant intent

Tell your school about your new financial predicament. Let them know it was unexpected. Tell them that an institution is willing to offer you a scholarship. Except they have a scholarship offer for you cheesy . show them your account details if possible. The would reconsider bro.
Best of Luck.

First. Let me appreciate those who painstakingly respond to and help some of us 'newbies' in here. The good Lord will favour you in all ways..

In my opinion, I guess I am still quite new in the system to comment. However, from the 20days spent in here thus far, I think it is EASIER AND BETTER to stay in Nigeria (if you don't have money to spend and you don't have mind to do things in the 'wrong' way) than to come in here... (Well, I might be wrong though)

The system is just too Hostile.

My advice - PLEASE ensure you get a FUNDING (G.A, R.A, or the likes).

Now to my question - It happens I have an admission @ a school (no funding and high tuition). Should be starting this Spring. However I discussed with a professor willing to accept me at Texas A&M for Summer.

If I am able to secure the admission letter before paying the fees, Is it possible I transfer successfully without falling out of status? Is it possible I change I-20 by February to the new school and remain here till the program starts by summer?

In the event I pay the fees and after a semester I transfer to the new school (with only 10 credit hours done) Would I transfer to start afresh or will the credit hours count?

I do hope someone understands my plight and gives me advice.

N.B:'My papa no get money oooo'

God bless

This is what happens when people fail to plan and think getting a visa is all you have to worry about. The system is not hostile at all... the reason you think Nigeria is better is because there is no structure there... anyone can get away with anything and rules are meant to be broken and never followed. For once, you're in a society where begging, connection and egunje is not an option. Good luck.

Guys what do you think I can do? My school has refused to transfer my sevis they are insisting I do at least one semester with them...I want to transfer to another university in California it's a Christian university and they just gave me scholarship this January. I can't do the semester cos The fees are too expensive...what are my options guys? Anyone been through this before?

You have zero options. Your school holds all the cards. Do one semester with them then transfer. Your school obviously has been burnt before by folks like you and wants to avoid getting blacklisted by the USCIS as simply an I-20 mill (aka use them to get into the US then transfer to somewhere less expensive). Where you not aware of the costs before you took the flight?

There is no way out for that dude except going there for his first semester, then transfer. Or defer the scholarship school and allow the other school terminates his sevis record then he can apply for re-instatement with the scholarship school I-20

Americans are naturally born ho-rny. I won't necessarily call them nymphomaniac but they can be classified as such. Well, as a good Christian I don't engage in such, saving myself for the right one wink

There is no info to help him with. This is not nigeria where there are shortcuts to everything. The school wants to avoid having too many people coming in on student visas with their i-20 then absconding to other schools. That's a red mark for them with the USCIS.

I do not think they turned down your request just like that.

Before you apply for admission, please endeavor to read the school's rules and regulations. That's how things work out there. And sorry brother.

This is not true!
The schools have regulations which they stick to.
Also many schools are having problems because of applicants using them to obtain a visa then disappearing. (As the OP wants to do.)
