Probably.
But you can't deny the yams, beef, onions, peppers and tomatoes southerners often rely on Northern farmers for. Don't get me wrong, that's by no means all the food we need but a sizable quantity does come from the north enough to upset prices in the south during Ramadan or religious crisis.
more than 90% if those things are imported from Cameroon. I am a living witness to this.

Most people support one Nigerea because they believe it is an opportunity for their region to rob the oil producing regions of their natural resources.

If true federalism were instituted in Nigeria, ALL the problems we face today of quota system only when the north is disadvantaged, falsification of census results, bias in distribution of federal allocations and projects to primarily favor the Fulani states, creation of multiple unviable states and LGAs in far northern desert region just to use them as extra units for cornering the federation allocation money derived from other areas etc will almost completely disappear.

Nigerea does not need to breakup to have peace. We just need to practice true fiscal federalism and all the quarrels from cheating happening now will disappear.

At this point, true federalism cannot solve anything. Here are some reasons

1) how will it stop Fulani herdsmen from killing?

2) if a reagion started to develop, especially the east, the whole almajiri in the north will flood that region and take advantage of the regions tax payers.

3) There will still be sharia law which goes against secularism and will lead to more clashes.

Can the guy above stop posting ignorant, discredited, racist trash videos pls.

Secondly, the people who want to break up Nigeria had better realise that their balkanized little ethnic countries will simply join the Sierra Leones, Gambias, and Togos of this world, sinking into international irrelevance like the aforementioned, and becoming dependent stooges of foreign powers, who usually order those smaller nations around. When you become your tiny new country, nations like Ghana and Kenya will suddenly become your boss. No more rubbing shoulders with South Africa. They will be your absolute boss and director..Your country will become susceptible to warlords and instability, like South Sudan. Before you know it, they will be sending UN to pacify your mayhem. So be careful what you wish for...You just might get it.

No more Super Eagles.
Super Falcons, Bye Bye.
No more Nollywood, currently dominating screens across the black world.
No more Nigerian dominance of African music, entertainment and fashion..
Just little, inconsequential 'countries' none in the world gives a toss about.....Shame. How art the mighty fallen? From international reckoning to nothingness. From grace to puny, inconsequential grass. Pity.

As much as splitting will be just one step toward a better tomorrow for present day Nigerians, I am not unaware of the short term turmoil it may most likely bring, but if we don't we'll only be putting a bandage over a gunshot wound...leaving room for continuing decay.

1. Our population is going off the roof and there are no policies or measures to keep that in check. That alone comes with a truck load of economic, social, financial and even security issues that will surpass what we are currently experiencing. I hope we understand that our children and grandchildren will have do clean up mess or add to the pile. Sigh.

2. Nigeria was never one country before the British colonists in 1914 had the terrible idea to merge people of different religions, cultures, ethnicities, values and languages. Although the union had big dreams, we have proved beyond reasonable doubt the the Nigerian people are definitely not one people. Expect when it's time to bash Ghana or talk our deplorable economy.

3. The yorubas are united united under traditional monarchies (royal family rulership), the Igbos are mostly democratic (small clan leadership without voting) and the Hausas have leaders who are caliphs (They basically double as traditional and religious *muslim* leaders). These styles of leadership show how different we are in our core. The Hausa majority obviously see no point in separating religion from state and this stems from their Islamic religion and this should be an important factor for a supposed "secular Nigerian state".

The above reasons are why I think a split would reduce the burden trying to lead over diverse 200 million people with stark contrasting views and values to leading more homogeneous states. Mind you, I am by no means a Biafra sympathizer, neither am I Igbo. These are coming from a very logical place.

I have a question though...Why do you strongly oppose the idea of a peaceful dissolution (through diplomatic agreements and/or referendum) of the Nigerian state?

Sensible replies only. Abeg.

Just one question for the op. ....when did you realise all you mentioned above. ... ...2 years ago. .... 10 yrs. ...16 yrs ago. ....or when Buhari took over

You forget that Nigeria fought against Biafra after similar things were signed and agreed upon at aburi in Ghana.

They are facts... Scary though they are. Who in Africa cares what Togo or Sierra Leone thinks or says? That will be you soon. If you talk too much Ghana will send in their troops to deal with you, and even replace your leadership. As their troops are banging your women, you would be sitting somewhere saying "Kai! Look at ordinary Ghana, running things here. If it were in the days of Nigeria, could they dare come in here and do this?"

If u see the caliber of people calling for Nigeria u will be amazed. This are the ones that are poor and worthless politically and economically, but they still need the rest of the country to survive. They are the most travelled tribe, their people are everywhere in their millions, they make up the second highest population in Lagos, after the indigenous Yoruba people. When Yoruba or Hausa or Niger delta region say they want to break Nigeria, it can be understandable, but when the igbos say they want Nigeria to break up, I just find it so hilarious

Those countries just like nigeria are colonial legacies. They were carved by some men sitting down in a dining table in Europe. They lack the fundamental consent of its people.

Does Nigeria have more respect globally than small Israel or Singapore.

If 100+ years is not enough for you to realize that we are only getting even more lost as a nation, I wonder what will work.

At least with a peaceful dissolution, each region can effectively focus on its pressing issues without having to consider a thousand and one other issues.

You can't set such differences apart not when our tribes and religions come before our nationality. They are foundational differences...you can't ignore them.

since 1960 is not 100years...

Lol, they forgot that everything the anti-Biafran 'True federalists" are asking for are contained in the Aburi document they tore to shreds.

True federalism that can easily be overturned by a coup by northern muslim soldiers if their people feel they are not getting enough benefit.

Let them keep fooling themselves with 'convienient English'and keep fighting to live with people who have made up they are going to leave the wicked union with devilish people.
