I am sorry to tell you this....you may not get anybody to tell you what you want to hear but let me analyse this to you.....you said the seat is for protocol (this tells me you knew it was for protocol) regardless of how many protocols seat there every sunday (it still doesnt mean its the same number that sat last week that will seat this week)...you probably were treated that way because they thought you should know better as you are not a new member of the church. Im sure if this was your first time in this church, you wouldn't have sat there or you would have gladly sat somewhere else after they told you to.....you might feel they embarrassed you but honestly, you brought it upon yourself. I may feel the same way if i were in your shoes but reflecting back, i would know i was wrong in the first place

The church is a house of God where anybody both the sinners n righteous, protocols and non-protocols are all welcomed. Creating a dermarcation in the church in the name of special sit is ridiculous. You came early u went to the front row to sit that is what is supposed to be.
Reserving sit for a protocol who is still in his house bathing and contemplating whether to attend or not is arrant nonsense.
That is why i love catholic church i can come on time and sit anywhere and close to any body protocol n non protocol. Who you epp.
Even the usher that saw u where leaving n left u to leave did not know she has failed in her primary duty as an usher which is to welcome everyone and make them feeel at home.
My brother u did notin wrong. Its not Ego problem. Is just the church's way of telling you that you are inconsequential.

OP you did the right thing. A church is not a social gathering where people are categorized or given preference base on status or protocols whatsoever -but a place of worship, therefore there is no such things as preference on where member should sit. Only the pastor and anointed men of God should have a preferred stated area of sitting around the alter.

You that passed GCE should have known that the Usher was only doing his job of organising people according to areas they are are meant to site, if the usher sends him him somewhere else then then there must be a reason for it and to someone that is in Church to genuinely seek God that should not be a problem. You asked people to judge you, now they are doing just that and you attacking them and arguing. If you knew you were right, why asking people to judge you? Is it because it's a church? Firstly I don't think you did wrong wanting to sit in front, not with all the noise at the back, kids laughing and other disturbance, you would want to sit in front, secondly, it's God's house and you can sit anywhere you want, no one paid you transport to church, and as you rightly observed it's mostly empty and not always occupied but I think you over reacted, maybe next time you could have just asked them can I just sit here for today? Or joked with them saying hmm I think I will like to join protocol so I can sit here and hear the message well, you could have handled it better, please try your best, it isn't easy but it still won't have taken anything from you to move to the back for the message sake, if you were the protocol lady or usher what would you have done to you in that situation

The problem with christains nowadays is that when they correct they correct as if they have never made the same type of mistake before.


If they asked politely I do not see the reason you shouldnt heed them. If it is their policy in the church that latecomers shouldnt sit at the front then RESPECT that.
But if they just did that on purpose then you should have not acted like a d**k like they did. (lol)
Anger/pride destroys things trust me. I wouldnt judge you--similar case has happened to me---Lecturer things. ( Made me resit a course then at school)the only course I had to repeat.

Obviously you are feeling guilty, if not you wouldn't have shared it to listen to people's opinion. One thing to note is that, anywhere you gather in the name of Christ, God is present. Even if the ushers were wrong, that shouldn't stop you from doing the right. Their attitude must not determine your reaction. It is wrong for any demarcation to be observed in any religious setting. When and where we always preach that all men are created equal. Even setting aside a place for ministers etc is superficial.

Yes people set high table in Islamic settings too. But it is clearly wrong. Only a speaker addressing an audience should stand on a podium so as to be heard.

These people have bigger perpetual ego than the OP if we are truthful.

Which is why the recommended practice is to seat as you arrive in the mosque starting from the front rows(so people don't step all over you while trying to get a seat and to never give up your seat or ask someone to give up their seat for you( except in cases of infirmity or age but definitely not by rank).

I just really want to believe you don't understand the settings I projected. I was not being disobedient or stubborn. I just felt it was wrong for the Usher to do that, in the middle of worship? Abs I don't see church as an 'organization' bro. It's a house of God. Plus, I'm a bona-fide member so I know the rules and what is applicable.

I think u should have listened to them though the whole case is absurd, seats being reserved for special people, by walking out of the church I've allowed silly laws chase u away from church, and u shouldn't blame the ushers, they are just obeying instructions though it can be annoying.
