Hello everyone, my mum started application for Permanent Resisdence for me and my brother since 2015. Last year around August we were called for DNA test and since then we've not heard anything from them what could be wrong? Isn't it taking too long. Is there a mail or an address one could call To know what is going on.

Please I would like to ask a question. Please how do you know that a paper application has been successfully linked online because when I linked a paper application online, it brought out the persons account but nothing was updated in the box and it wrote no message. Does that mean that the application has not been opened yet or am I expected to see anything in box. Please help by explaining more. Thanks

hello guys. please i need help. i got an order to leave Philippines in 2016 for overstay, but i want to apply for a study permit to canada now. do you think its reasonable to go ahead? how do you think i can tackle this issue in my SOP? please i need advices and ideas.
It sure will raise concerns about possibility to do same in canada if they approve your study permit.
If your reasons for previous overstay is cogent enough and indicate it wasn't any fault of yours, you could stand a chance, if not, this Oputa panel will be between you and the VO.

So explain the circumstance(s) surrounding the overstay and why it got to that.
Secondly, make sure you truthfully acknowlegde that you have been asked to leave a country before in the application form to avoid any issue that may lead to admissibility or inadmissibility.

Once your reasons of overstaying are good enough and you are able to relate it to a VO, it MAY pass.
The decision is entirely the VO's and at his/her discretion.

Happy new months guys

Please someone should help me answer this;

How long should the bank statements be from when you printed it to when you apply. I.e what is the recommended gap between when you actually printed it and when you apply?

The reason for this question is this; I printed my bank statement from ph and ttavelled to abj for my new passport but now I've been waiting for my new passport in Abj for more than a month. Should I go back ph to get new statement or wait because I was told it will be ready next week or at most week after next

Thank you

Hello Khloepatra3, please go ahead with your application and never state that you have overstayed in Philippine before. Haba, how on earth will they know about your situation. If its us or any of these european countries, then u must explain yourself in a well detailed SOP. I believe reporting yourself to those VOs will automatically lead to a refusal ( if its masters, u have a chance but no show if its PGD).

cic needs your bank statements for the past four months(minimum). So, fairly implies that a bank statement older than a month will not meet the last four month requirement in my view as it will cover the past 3 months and a gap of one month and as such too risky to be used. I will personally not use a bank statement older than 15 days. Just go to the bank and print a new one as there is no need to take unnecessary risk. Goodluck

This is not a good advise!! It will shock and interest you to know that he/she will be dealing with the Government which have some investigative powers and have cooperation from other governments when it concerns security, immigration, crime and terrorism.

When they ask that one truthfully answer questions, it shouldn't be underestimated. They will dig out anything that will be useful to them and from viable indicators, every applicant is treated as a potential permanent resident and possible citizen of canada.

Once they see you have lived outside your country of citizenship and birth for a while, further investigations will be carried out on you(Canadian authorities are very good in this hence the long processing atimes for most of their application) to ascertain you are not a threat to security, have not commited crime or violated regulations and law aside the things you fill and this is also aside the police statement requested from these countries.

Also, the person you are giving this advise is expected to submit police clearance certificate from the philippine which WILL clearly state and indict him of overstaying previous permit.

On the contrary to the second bold statement and as a matter of fact, reporting the overstay will add more credibility to his application and if reasons for doing such are not bad, he stands a good chance of getting the permit be it a master or PGD/PGC.It will then boil down to the nature and circumstance of the overstay and also the VO's discretion.

Please, do not guide or advise anyone into doing anything that will tarnish his/her immigration status and render the person inadmissible to not just the US or Canada but almost all countries.

Canada immigration history is considered one of the most credible because it is a TOP destination of the world, nobody wants to get a bad immigration profile with them.

My 2 kobo of a contribution...... I believe every nation has every right to "protect" its interests no matter how ludicrous others or even some of its citizens might view some enacted polices. For instance, African nations predominantly consider same sex rights to be a violation of their traditional and moral beliefs. That is fine, the US have their own worries and they're pursuing avenues to redress what they may perceive to be a threat. Whether it is immigrants, refugees, terrorist (home-grown and foreign), far right extremists, etc, countries must do what works best for them.

Arguably, radicalism and terrorism has been identified as a major treat and associated factor for global terror and the Muslim faith has been used to propagate such acts predominantly. I do not believe Trump's new policy is a ban on Muslims but a move to check the inflow of immigrants and refugees from countries that has been identified to have active terrorist organisations. Whether it'll make the US safer is a different argument and I believe it will create many social, academic, and developmental problems in the short run. I cant talk about the long run effects.

I am a christian that have lived in 3 different countries outside Nigeria and I have experienced xenophobia and racism but many times, I do understand some of the causes of these social vices no matter how many people exploit it.

As an example. If as a Christian farmer, your crops have been destroyed on many occasions by your neighbour's animals or herdsmen (no matter where they're from), you can either pray that God provide for you or you find ways to address the cause of the problem in my opinion.

look at what is happening in Europe. It is mind boggling that in the UK, immigrants and refugees and their descendants have now taken over suburbs, driven locals away and are arrogant about it. This has a religious undertone by the way. Or what has happened in France, Belgium, Germany, etc. If I was a president, I will definitely revisit the policies on immigration with the aim to adjust it to encourage more scrutiny.

I am not a Trump fan by the way cos imo he doesn't have the personality or demeanor of a leader but I cant fault some of his policies.

thesoj:
I'm not painting you as black. Your commentary was self-explanatory; you blamed refugees and lauded Trump in the same vein. You are welcome to reverse your position, however.

Your comment that there's increased terrorism in host countries is completely false. No refugee has ever committed a terrorist attack in the US, and this specific attack in Quebec was not by refugees which is contrary to what your commentary clearly infers. But even if it were, so we should blame all refugees and deny them all any compassion? If this should be the case, then you should be ok with the US or Canada or the EU banning all Nigerian citizens (due to Boko Haram) from entry?

Anyways, I'm derailing the thread now. I just think this is pertinent because it is hypocritical to seek help on this thread yet make claims that infer that people who need much more help than you should be shunned.
