Ex Everton, Wigan Manager – Conte Has Turned Moses Into A World Class Player

image
The coach of the national team of Belgium Roberto Martinez has praised Chelsea manager Antonio Conte for bringing out the potentials in Victor Moses.

Martinez handled Moses during his time at Wigan Athletic, and admitted that while the Nigerian has always has some special attributes, it is Conte who has succeeded in moulding him into a world class player.

Martinez said: “That’s down to Antonio Conte. He’s found what system could suit Victor Moses, a player who I’ve seen play a lot.

“When he runs with the ball, his technical his ability is world class.

“When he gets into the final third his decision-making is not as clean as other players but I think he’s suiting this system.

“Victor Moses has got the stamina to do the job which is very difficuilt to find in a quality player.

“When Victor Moses moved to Chelsea he could grow into the player he’s showing now.

“It’s been a long journey – four or five years – but now it’s coming.”

One of the reasons why I HATE Yaya toure, he has this jealousy syndrome and hate to see his fellows african footballer shining, and that has blindfolded him from not seeing anything good in Nacho. Imagine! To Hell with Him.

These people are just killing my boy confidence, I can't wait for him to find the club/coach that will know and utilize the ability in him and come back against City to kick their butt.

Reports – Leicester City Players Angry With Ranieri Over Ahmed Musa Substitution In Loss To Man United

image
Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri reportedly angered his players when he substituted Nigerian forward Ahmed Musa in Leicester City 0-3 loss to Manchester United.

Musa was substituted by the manager at the start of the second half by Andy King, and his substitution alongside that of Shinji Okazaki who was replaced by Demarai Gray didn’t go down well with some of the players.

According to leaks gathered by the online version of UK Tabloid Dailymail, senior players of Leicester City were unhappy with the Nigerian over the removal of the duo in the tie that saw them drop to just two points behind basement team Sunderland.

Musa a big money buy by the manager has been sparingly used by the manager since his transfer from Russian giants CSKA Moscow in the summer, with the forward playing second fiddle to the likes of Jamie Vardy and Islam Slimani.

Rumours of dressing room unrest has also lead to talks about the future of the manager, which some suggesting that he has been given a three match ultimatum to save his job.

SUPER EAGLES CONSIDER FRIENDLY VS 'ROBUST-PLAYING' DR CONGO FOR CAMEROON CLASH

Super Eagles consider friendly vs 'robust-playing' DR Congo for Cameroon clash

by Samm Audu

Tuesday Feb 07, 2017. 08:37

Nigeria Super Eagles are proposing a second friendly against “robust-playing” DR Congo in London in March as they step up their preparations for a crunch 2018 World Cup double header against Cameroon in August.

The Eagles have already sealed a friendly with Senegal also in London in March.

The three-time African champions are shopping for African teams who play the same type of robust football like World Cup rivals Cameroon, who on Sunday clinched a fifth AFCON crown in Gabon.

“Eagles will play two friendlies in London and already the Senegal game has been confirmed and now discussions are going on for a second game there against DRC, who also a robust game like Cameroon,” a team official informed AfricanFootball.com

Both Nigeria and DRC clashed in another friendly in Belgium in 2015.

DRC have been consistent under coach Florent Ibenge after they finished third at the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea, before they lost in this year’s AFCON quarterfinal to Ghana.

Big striker Junior Kabananga finished as top scorer of AFCON 2017 with three goals, while other stars include skipper Youssouf Mulumbu and Hull City striker Dieumerci Mbokani.

FIFA slam worldwide ban on Chris Giwa, 4 others

World football governing body FIFA have handed a worldwide extension to the ban of Chris Giwa and four other officials who have been involved in a leadership tussle with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The other officials are Muazu Suleyman, Yahaya Adama, Sani Fema and Johnson Effiong.

In May 2016, the NFF first banned Giwa, owner of one-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club Giwa FC, and the other officials after they sought redress from a civil court over a leadership tussle and this is against the NFF statutes.

Nigeria were severally threatened by a FIFA ban as a result of this leadership tussle.

Giwa claimed he was duly elected NFF president in August 2014 and asked the court to overturn the elections of September 2014, which produced Amaju Pinnick as NFF boss.

This five-year sanction was later extended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

“In accordance with art. 136ff of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has decided to extend the five-year ban from taking part in any kind of football-related activity imposed on the five officials to have worldwide effect,” according to a statement by FIFA today.

Ex-Premier League star Osaze says he will consider China move

Former Nigeria World Cup star Osaze Odemwingie has said he will consider a move to China even though it could be difficult for him because the clubs there now consider younger players.

Osaze has played in France, Russia, Belgium as well as in the Premier League in England with West Bromwich Albion, Cardiff City and Stoke City.

Now 35, the former Nigeria international is now in the twilight of his career, but he said he will consider offers outside England, where his family has fully settled.

“There is a possibility to move to China even though it is becoming more difficult for players of my age now to go there,” he admitted.

“We had our third baby in October in England and now my wife does not mind travelling.

“Earlier in my career I had the chance to move to the Emirates, Qatar and China but I did not take it.”

Younger Nigeria stars Mikel Obi and Odion Ighalo have been lured this year by the big money Chinese football now offers.

Eagles coach Rohr returns to scout for new stars in NPFL

Gernot Rohr

by Samm Audu

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will use the next few weeks to scout for new players in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on his return from the AFCON in Gabon.

Rohr was a pundit for a French television channel at Gabon 2017.

“Rohr is back in Lagos and he will use the next few weeks to scout for players in the southwest area,” a top source informed.

The coach has run the rule on NPFL stars like goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa as well as forwards Chisom Egbuchulam and Godwin Obaje since he took charge of the Eagles.

However, the Franco-German coach shut out players from the NPFL for the Eagles last World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Uyo, arguing he could not pick any of them because the league had ended and he could not guarantee their match fitness.

The NPFL has since resumed in the middle of January and it is now in its seventh week of action.

The Super Eagles top the qualifying group with six points from two matches, while Cameroon are second on two points.

Rohr spies on Remo Stars vs Niger Tornadoes for new Eagles stars

Rohr (middle) flankd by Eagles coach Salisu Yusuf and Victor Ikpeba (far right) at the Federation Cup final in Lagos last year

by Samm Audu

Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will be at this afternoon’s NPFL match between Remo Stars and visiting Niger Tornadoes in Sagamu to scout for new stars for his team.

Officials further informed he will likely watch another NPFL game at the weekend before he returns to his home in France.

NPFL stars Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Godwin Obaje and Chisom Egbuchulam have figured in Rohr’s squad for a World Cup qualifier in Zambia in October.

The Franco-German coach watched last year’s Federation Cup as well as the 2017 Charity Cup in his quest to scout for new players for the Super Eagles.

Rohr, who worked as a television pundit at the just-concluded AFCON in Gabon, is due to return to the country next month time ahead of two friendlies against Senegal and most likely DR Congo in London.

These matches are to prepare Nigeria for 2018 World Cup qualifying double header against African champions Cameroon beginning from August.

Nigeria lead the qualifying pool with six points from two matches, while Cameroon are second on two points.

Zambia and Algeria have a point each.

Rangers star Chisom Egbuchulam closes in on Swedish switch

Rangers star forward Chisom Egbuchulam is now closing in on a transfer to Sweden after a botched move to Tunisia.

“We are now considering a year’s loan for Chisom with a Swedish club and thereafter he could sign a three-year contract,” said his representative Igwe Okolo, himself a former Rangers star.

He is expected in Abuja this week to begin processing his travel papers to Sweden.

Egbuchulam, who scored 16 goals last season as Rangers emerged champions after a 32-year wait, was in Tunisia recently but was eventually not given a contract by either Etoile du Sahel or Club Africain.

It was a further understood that he has not returned to Rangers as they were not forthcoming on giving him a six-month loan deal.

The left-footed Egbuchulam could play as a winger or a forward. He is technically good, packs a good shot and knows his way to goal.

What really disgusts me about man city are Kelechi's teammates, even Yaya said now we have 2 good strikers. Those clowns never believed in him, never passed him the ball and now they have the guts to say "Jesus makes good runs", thank u very much, so Iheanacho was walking the whole time? The faster he gets out of there the better for Nigerian football and the self esteem of young Nigerians in general. All this says is no matter what a Nigerian will always get trumped.
you need to understand that the worst crime one can commit as an African is to be Nigerian

In every sector of life, the sole mission of other Africans is to discredit Nigerians. That is all they do, no Nigerian will ever be good enough. The envy is so bad it has generated to pure hate

Yaya Toure has always been a conceited, selfish, envious, spiteful rat and that is why I have NEVER and will NEVER rate or like him. That is how he opened his large mouth to say he deserved CAF 2016 APOTY over Aubameyang.

Yaya Toure is the most selfish African player of this generation, he only wants glory all to himself. He doesn't want another player, least of all an AFRICAN one to take his shine. He wants to remain the biggest African Player, he can take some other continent shining, but an African? Over his dead body.

If he were an African leader, he would be just like Yaya Jammeh

Watford Loanee Uche Agbo Among Star Performers For Granada In Win Over Las Palmas

On loan Watford defensive midfielder Uche Agbo had a game to remember for his loan side Granada in their 1-0 win over Las Palmas in a Monday night fixture in the La-Liga.

Agbo combined brilliantly with the rest of his midfield partners in the 3-4-3 formation employed by coach Lucas Alcaraz. He also functioned effectively as an alternate defender when they were under pressure.

The Nigerian dominated Ghanian star Kevin Prince Boateng in most of their duels in the midfield, and drew a foul from the former AC Milan man in the 61st minute.

However Agbo was shown a yellow card for unsporting behaviour after angrily kicking the ball away following a foul called against him in the 52nd minute.

On loan Manchester United forward Andreas Pereira got the only goal of the game that settled the tie in the favour of Granada to ease their relegation worries.

Ex Governor Promises To Convince Enyeama To Return To Super Eagles

The former governor of Abia State Orji Uzor Kalu says he can convince former Super Eagles goalkepper and captain Vincent Enyeama to return to the team.

Enyeama has been on AWOL since leaving the team camp after a disagreement with former coach Sunday Oliseh, and has since then stayed away from the team despite approaches from new coach Gernot Rohr.

However Kalu who is largely credited for turning around the fortunes of Enyimba FC of Aba during his reign as governor of Abia state believes he can bridge the gap between Rohr and Enyeama.

“I think there is communication gap between Rohr and Enyeama. I am ready to bring them together. We need good keepers to support Carl Ikeme. The Eagles also need to play friendlies with Senegal and Burkina Faso. They are francophone and play like the Indomitable Lions,” Kalu said.

Meet Plateau Utd Forward Emeka Umeh – Built Like Zlatan, Skillful Like Kanu

The fine run of Plateau United has dominated the headlines after six games in the Nigeria Professional Football League, but not much have been said about their players.

One among their players who have impressed so far, and even to an extent surpassed expectations is giant striker Emeka Umeh, who joined the team as an unknown quantity from NNL side Kaduna United.

The forward who has scored two goals do far in just five games is in his second season as a professional footballer, but his first in the top flight league in Nigeria.

Last season injuries marred his participation for Kaduna United but this season, he has banish those worries and has turned into a game changing substitute for coach Kennedy Boboye early season pace setters.

” He is built like Zlatan, and blessed with fancy footwork like Kanu Nwankwo. From the first day I saw him, I knew he is a real talent”, popular Kaduna journalist/ scout Mohammed Mowiz posted on twitter one year ago when the forward popped up at Kaduna United.

His huge frame makes it impossible for defenders to keep him at bay, and his dribbling abilities plus long strides has helped him go past defenders with ease.

Brilliant with his back to goal, the 19 year old is certainly guarantee to do exploits in the nearest future especially if he maintains his hard work and stay focused.

Dutch Legend Confesses – Kanu Has Something Special In Him Just Like Finidi

Legendary Dutch forward Marc Overmars says the talent of Kanu Nwankwo and Finidi George was clear to see from the first day they arrived at Ajax.

Overmars share same dressing room with the Nigerian duo before reuniting with Kanu once again at Arsenal, remembers clearly the impression the Nigerian made on him and his other teammates wheb they arrived at Ajax from Nigeria.

In an interview in the January edition of the Arsenal Magazine, which is on arsenal.com, Overmars who also played for Barcelona, confessed both Finidi and Kanu had qualities that were admired back then at Ajax by other players.

“I don’t think Kanu had ever played on a normal pitch before he joined us at Ajax,” the Dutchman said, laughing.

“He didn’t know where to run. I remember once he had to take a throw-in and we called for the ball, so he pushed the ball out from his chest!

“These guys didn’t have the education as young players but we saw in the first training session that they were special. Kanu had so much quality and it was the same with Finidi George.

“They had something that we didn’t have. We had all learned how to play football on the streets, but their football upbringing was much more raw, and you can see how they benefitted from that.”

Kanu is raw talent with no football academy training, I remember his first game at Arsenal, he was suppose to give the ball back to his opponent(fair play) but instead dribble the keeper and score. To me Kanu is the most talented African player

From this Afcon alone, he should tell or show me one midfielder that has the qualities that Mikel have and I'll prostrate for his punditry!

For now, he is just another Jamie Carrgher with nonsensical points.

Even on mobile soccer games, we know what Mikel is rated and that's not even what I want to use to defend Obi, but it's the least and it's a reflection of his qualities in reality(abi na real life we dey talk?)

Safarigirl, exactly 7am? Was that planned?
@yout post?

Joebie pls pick on another player, not Mikel.

We drink from the cup of hype other countries give their players and assume the hype drink was real. Why can't we brew our own hype too.

it wasn't intentional, I didn't even notice

Even as much as people love to give credits to Conte for moulding Moses into the player we all admire (and he Conte also enjoy receiving the credits). I totally disagree, Moses' fortune changed after his impressive display against Lecester City in the FA cup (he single handedly gave hope to a Chelsea that was 2 goals down). Meanwhile, before that match Conte never trusted him enough to start a single match for Chelsea, it was Moses' personal development and determination with the encouragement from Mikel that made him what he is today.
By the way, I'm a Chelsea fan

Just because Mikel has less competition in the national team don't make him world class. I don't know your standard.. but these term is relative to me.. firstly I won't be making comparisons to other African players. Because we don't have a lot I can place in that category at the moment. If I mention Aubemeyang, someone will want to shoot my head and say he is a striker. Mikel cannot even be ranked among the top 10 midfiedlers in the world at the moment.. it's okay to be patriotic.. i don't dislike mikel.. but no self proclaimed soccer guru here will convince me to put him in that world class category.. sorry.. maybe write nairaland owner to kick me out of here since you guys own this place..haha
