bizme:Thank you, you clearly intelligent. Well, the problems besieging private universities in Nigeria is in fact not unique to Nigeria. Times higher recently wrote an article on these several issues affecting Private universities in Africa and the middle east. As a matter of fact only UAE had a more accepted private university system over a public university system. My hope is that NUC would raise the minimum standard of establishing Private Universities. However we must help our private unis to succeed. Failure to do so would result in an ever increasing Education tourism because the Children of Politicians would never school in public universities and their educational tourism would adversely affect our economy. Even with d struggling Nigerian educational sector we still have ppl like Fayose and Osinbanjo who sent their kids to CU in recognition of the fact that some of these private universities have the potentials to soar high |

bizme:And the ones from public universities are better? I have seen cases of first class students from public universities performing poorly in Nigeria not to talk of those that couldn't cope with Commonwealth scholarship. |

Jerryojozy:That's a big lie.you suddenly develop that mindset based on hearsay. I put to you that you might flop in many areas if the competition began. Now ask yourself, can you compete internationally? Would they even accept your certificate knowing fully well what goes on in our public universities? Even a 2.1 from university of Ghana is far better than university of Benin. |

bizme:As regards Universities forcing Staff to read their work; my advice would always be to delete the visibility indicator on webometrics and not use 'Reads' as an indicator. Citation is already a good indicator of research impact. I currently like Times Higher out of the four reputable ranking organizations because it is more holistic and ensures you can't 'buy' the good ranking by just going ahead to buy Nobel Laureates(e.g shanghai rankings). Times Higher uses a combination of teaching, citation, international outlook, industry support and so far only UI could meet the conditions for rankings. However I have good info Covenant university would be included soon(provided they get to d 200 journals/year treshold) |

bizme:Have you for once asked why the cut off point are high in those universities? Have you for once ask why there more applicant going for public universities instead of private,? Why do you think jamb is trying to mention students chooses one public university and one private university? . do you think it's easy to give a student 5.0 ? Why are public university's lecturers mean although not all in marking? They mark out Of sentiment and not merit. Why do most public universities reduces marks just because they didn't get it during their time? |

wizzakosh:The fact that you used a few students to judge the performance of the entire school still remains a problem here. Following your method would mean that no tertiary institution in Nigeria is reasonable. Because I have also seen very many public school students who barely even know what they're doing in school. You can't use the performance of a few to judge the rest. |

bizme:Resorting to insults... Well, considering the fact that you have argued reasonably with stat.social I'll assume you have had more time to think properly on your position in this issue. But the truth remains that nothing you have complained about here is solitary to only private universities. We all know what happens in public Universities. So don't think your experience with a few 'private universities' is enough justification to assume all their students are not trainable. |

Catastrophe:1. It can occur due to mismanaging of the fund giving. I thought the school provides a daily meal? 2. Stealing is an impulsive behaviour you find it among different social-class. 3. As for the rest you just gab, the Private school system didn't make them that, rather from a damaged society in which the Private school has to regulate. |

DrayZee:The source of the money that was used to build the schools (tithes /offerings) can still be used to subsidized the fees,so that the church members can send their children to study there. The church is making money, they should learn to use it for the service of humanity. |

bjcuntis:There's no cause for alarm If these expensive universities were built by entrepreneurs/investors,whose main aim is to make profit. In the first place, churches are not supposed to indulge in any profit making venture,,if they must,it should be of a charitable nature. The rush for wealth in the house of God these days is mind bungling |
| Re: 7 Most Expensive Universities In Nigeria 2017 by Nobody: 8:24am On Feb 26, 2017 |
coputa:Your problem is a special case of ignorance. Apostolic Faith is subsidizing Crawford by 500 million naira, Living Faith is subsidizing CU by 1.6 billion naira. I thought I uploaded an expenditure report of CU online yet ppl like you would never read it. The Churches cn't subsidize to the point where it breaks their back. Electricity in CU is about 24 hrs. Do u know how much that cost in a year or you think Churches should forget their core mission of reaching out to the unsaved and be fuelling generators for a university. What kind of unthinking generation do we have in Nigeria. Living Faith is in 65 countries in d world, rccg is in 192 are u going to bed one supporting this Churches financially by the time they spend their money on giving u free education. Most of you kp talking about old missionaries yet u forget that some of them were supported by governments. Up till the 1950s the US govt was financially supporting Christian missions. Is ur useless govt willing to financially supporting anyone. If you had paid attention to read the debate I had with biz.me u would know that many of these private universities are still groaning even with d so called fees. |

Statsocial:If living faith is subsidizing CU to the tone of 1.6 billion naira compared to their income, then, they've not done enough.note that living faith in Nigeria can fend for itself. They cannot break their neck, because they are just the custodians of the money that is given to them by poor worshipers who went there probably to to better their lots,(Education included) Western countries supports churches financial because they pay taxes and use the money for humanitarian purposes. Yes,reaching out the unsaved as the core mission of the church also includes giving out an affordable qualitative education to the poor.It is difficult to win the soul of a hungry, dejected and confused fellow. |

asuustrike2009:The bold is so not true. Things are bad, generally with our education in Nigeria, but not that bad for other countries not to respect our certificates. In fact, what those other countries look at is not really certificates but the individual competence of our products. Competition for job spaces abroad is extremely fierce, even citizens of those countries are caught in that web. I had seen a Russian who came for a job in a unit got recommended for dismissal because he lacked the qualities his certificates claimed. A similar thing had also happened to an American in the same theme. And yet, Nigerians from public universities sailed through glowingly. And yes, many Europeans/Americans with PhD do menial jobs because of the fierceness of their employment system. Having a PhD doesn't give you a job, having it with several years of postdoctoral exposure is what improves your odds. |
| Re: 7 Most Expensive Universities In Nigeria 2017 by DrayZee: 9:49am On Feb 26, 2017 |
coputa:You may think you know how schools are run...But you don't. And you're actually just looking out for yourself and not "for the service of humanity". Do you realize that if that idea you have is implemented, then people like you will migrate to churches like Winner's and Redeemed just to get subsidized university fees? And let's assume your tithes and offerings for a year equals 100k...Is that enough to sustain just one of your children for a year? You don't know how schools are run. You think because government schools are cheaper that others can be the same. The government subsidises the fees because they can. Churches cannot do that. Talking as if it's everyone who pays tithes and offerings, or as if it helps tithes are even enough to sustain the school. How can you just sit somewhere and assume that tithes are enough to run a school? Are you normal at all? |
| Re: 7 Most Expensive Universities In Nigeria 2017 by DrayZee: 9:54am On Feb 26, 2017 |
coputa:A school is being subsidized by 1.6 billion and you say they have not done enough. It's obvious, you want quality education but you don't want to pay for it. This is just a case of greed. I've seen through you. Affordable qualitative education...SMH. Name one quality university anywhere on this earth with fees lower than that of CU. Statsocial just explained what needs to be paid for in universities and you overlooked all that just to come and type this rubbish. |

That is what you think o! I swear most students are there today simply because they cannot gain admission into public schools and their parents know so they don't even want them to stress themselves, another reason for the guys is that their parents don't want them leaving the school whenever they like so as not to go join cult or something cause they know that if they let their kids go to public schools where there are alot of hustlers they won't just join cult but will be leaders and I swear will beat TuBaba record cause those students can boast OMG everybody (almost) doing high class especially @ Igbenedion and ABUAD.. Yet 60% soak garri. When I was there same thing, room mates o, other people too.. Simply because parents put their kids in a very expensive school and don't give them enough money and resources thats why the crime rate is so high ehn they steal not just per day but per hour Laptops, Phones, Macs, even a student @ ABUAD was caught stealing with Juju even the girls steal also @ the so called "religious Convent University." I nvr learned to sleep with one eye closed but as I enter private school hmmmmm u fit sleep yet nor close ur eyes urn roomie fit dey talk for one hour bot knowing say u don go. And also the rate of drugs is those schools slf in another thing lemmi not even go dere e go surprise u how students manage to smuggle hookah's enter schools, codine etc and am not talking of just guys its a 50/50. And finally in every private school, the poplulation of girls is almost more simply because parents want their daughters to be safely away from guys because they either know they are docile or the other thing. And yet they don't know that because girls can't enter boys hostel (not at Igbenedion though) doesn't mean that they don't run the sex stuff. Yes they do infact in first week self. Convenant is tighter than Abuad though. In Abuad they do it at the field, college buildings and classes, uncompleted buildings etc @ Convenant behind college buildings too, cafeteria and more. The dean of students affairs {Mr. Azubuike A.K.A Azu} will even wear face cap and dress like normal students just to catch students kissing in the cafeteria or doing other stuffs.. So thats it and there are many other reasons but don't think it's everyone there that is more fortunate than you are. Read more @
