Most of Nairalanders here were not born during the era. So it will amaze them seeing the phone. This was the era we usually patronised NITEL.

In our house, you dared not touch it. That old man will pluck your ears.

Thank God for Obasanjo who introduced GSM, the Man who brought civilization to Nigeria in area of telecommunication.

That's why we need to join the rest of the world to celebrate our ICON, the living Legend Irunmale ti n mu goldberg: OBJ @ 80

What yeye legend? He shouldn't have introduced GSM nah.

And we never even invent any reasonable thing sef.

We are still trying to replicate already existing stuff...
lol our own na to render anything "in vogue" or "out of class"

Something dat we didn't invent ooo... If u go to these advanced countries u will still see dem driving old model cars... Without any sort of criticism, but come to Nigeria, person wey dey drive beetle or peujeot 504.. Chei... E don be for dat person . even babe sef no go follow any guy wey dey drive jetta or Passat. grin

See as we don render Nokia 3310 useless.. Strong Fone for dat matter.. Dat one sef is ten times stronger Dan ifone 7. And now there are speculations of wanting to convert it to an android phone... Trust me if dat works, we Nigerians who were d champions in casting the Fone will be the first nation to buy it.....

The second thing dat surprises me is the voice mail feature.. Hahhaha.. We Nigerians no wan hear say our call enter voice mail. Lol.. But in advanced countries, voice mail is an important feature.. Intact the advantages of it sef is more Dan just giving the receiver an unanswered call... It takes us nothing to send a voice message telling the receiver about the intent of the call...

Sha.. God dey

See? what does that mean? I mean the bolded. So, u are still part of people that thank Obj for Gsm? your eyes still never open? I would have forgiven you if you had said it 18 years ago or so. We should also thank who for bringing laptops, atms television into Nigeria? Backward thinking.

Obadanjo brought gsm into Nigeria. who should Togo praise? abi South Africa?

it is too early... u just vexed me this morning

Lagos codes (1979-1991).

Victoria Island = 61

Lagos Island = 62

Ikoyi = 68

Festac = 88

Ikeja = 97

Short codes.

199 = emergency
198 = speaking clock

Lol this reminds me of 1991 when I visited my uncle in Lagos. He had that land phone (1st pic) in his sitting room, so one of my Aunts who was on London called and she wanted to talk to me . I was reading a novel (ogboju ode ninu Igbo Irunmole by D.O Fagunwa ) beside the phone table when the strange sound of the phone rang lol I jump up and I wanted to run out of the sitting room bfre our housemaid call me back that its the phone that was ringing , she picked the call lol and behold the caller wanted to speak with me. I was panic when she gave the phone to me and when. I picked and say "hello' for the first time I heard "Bawo ni mosco aunty e lo nsoro lati ilu oyinbo" guess what I did

I prostrated and say in Jenifa's voice "Mummy eku ojo meta o,Se daada ni eyin ati awon oyinbo wa gegebi emi na se Wa loni'

After the call, the housemaid and everybody in the house were making mock of me. chaiii man u crack me up early this morning grin grin grin grin
