So, Cowbell maths competition and Ican is not a determinant for general academic performance but waec exams is a determinant? Ask yourself why are these so called 'bright'igbos in waec not doing better than their colleagues in the best universities in the country: Unilag, Oau,UI, Covenant etc
Must your life revolve around your enclave alone?? so other universities do not exist apart from the ones in your backyard??

nice one from south east states.
the media false propagandas against Igbos are crashing day by day.
Since the beginning of time, has there ever been any media report doubting the academic excellence of the SE? I don't think so.

From highest number of professors to highest number of entrants into universities, igbos lead.

Plus, waec is even more reliable than Neco

My argument was based at secondary school level (I should have made it clear earlier). Ofcourse in terms of post secondary school perhaps Higher institution level (University level) SW have the best learning centres. I mentioned earlier that SE candidates don't replicate their understanding form @ university level, which means something is wrong somewhere. Only UNN is struggling to go head to head with higher institutions in SW.
I am sure the fathom struggle is not academic cos Igbos take the lead in that one.
University ratings ain't even about the brilliance of graduands and graduates , so, what's your point?

Ekiti still has the highest number of professors in Nigeria.Ekiti State is reputed to have produced the highest number of professors in Nigeria. Several pioneer academics are from the state, including Adegoke Olubummo (One of the first Nigerian professors in the field of mathematics), Ekundayo Adeyinka Adeyemi (1st Professor of Architecture in Africa, South of Sahara). Others include Profs J.F. Ade-Ajayi, Niyi Osundare, Sam Aluko, Prof A.A. Agboola.

Cowbell maths is just a localized exam that you specifically prepare for.
Have you wondered why the two ogun schools that normally win it are unheard of in other spheres? Aside cowbell? The students too don't win anything outside that.
The pattern of cowbell quizzes are even different from others, showing it's just a peculiar exam you prepare specifically for.

No brother, UNN came 7th in overall performance last year. It was one of the monthly assessment that UNN came 1st.

There is more aside student performance and infrastructure which are journals, projects, program initiatives, etc. About funding, every universities receives that from Federal ministry of Education and NUC. So I see no basis that Universities in the east is being short-changed when it comes to this factor. We all know that our Education in Nigeria is still a far cry from international standard. We will get there one day.
The east has always been shortchanged in everything in Nigeria. journals, program, initiatives etc all need funds. These universities are owned by FG, Abuja politics decides where more funds go. Data of number of profs and PhD holders by state of origin can be a better assessment of educational attainment than university ranking since universities have both staff and students from all over the country. This is same flaw in using the industries in Ogun to claim to be more in control of industries when igbo own a significant number of industries over there and the industrialization was due to the west african gas pipeline laid during obasanjo era delivering cheap gas making industrialist to relocate there and has nothing to do with industrial prowess of Ogun people or yoruba people

The preparation of this 2015 NHDR has been made possible by the contributions and support of many individuals and organizations who generously gave their valuable time and ideas. First and foremost is the UNDP Country Office in Nigeria for providing both financial and technical
support right from inception. The team is particularly grateful for the unwavering guidance and support of the UNDP Nigeria team led by Pa Lamin Beyai (Country Director) and Ojijo Odhiambo (Senior Economic Advisor), Robert Asogwa (National Economist) and Grace Arinze-Ononwu (Economic Research Associate). A special appreciation is also due to Colleen Zamba (immediate former Economic Advisor), who provided valuable input at the onset of the process. The NHDR also benefited greatly from the advice and guidance of the former UNDP Resident Representative, Daouda Toure as well as the former Director-General of NISER, Prof. Olufemi Taiwo.

Are you running mad or something, so you don't see the ones in Nigeria, you expect to see them in Nigeria where merit does not stand out, when last did you read Newyork times or watch CNN do that more often you will see them all over the globe not Nigeria where you deprive them of merit status.

To be honest despite my earlier criticism of south west regressing in secondary education, SW still dominate strategy sectors like the ones u mentioned (IT, Law, Banking, E-commerce, Research and others ). Engineering is 50:50 across the nation. Still we need to wake up from our slumber bro. As for the cowbell mathematics competition and others, I noticed every year, SW often dominates the winning board but come to think of it too, the recent JET competitions are being won by the igbos.
