Pan-African Economy Growing Steadily in March

Africa: Nigeria grows out of recession as South Africa registers modest improvements. #SMI http://www.worldeconomics.com/SMI/Africa-SalesManagersIndex.efp

Market Growth Index increased above 50 after five months in contraction territory
Nigeria grows out of recession as South Africa registers modest improvements
Price Inflation picks up pace across Africa

The World Economics Headline Sales Managers’ Index (SMI) for Africa – a composite indicator providing the most up-to-date monthly assessment of economic activity in the region – improved by 1.6 index points to 51.3 in March. The Pan-African Market Growth Index, which represents overall economic growth, has ticked up above the 50.0 ‘no change’ level which separates growth from contraction for the first time in five consecutive months in March. This level, indicates that the Pan-African economy is starting to grow after a period of shallow contraction. Nigeria is leading the way after a solid month of gains as South Africa saw small improvements also. The Eastern economy of Kenya, which had a strong economy during 2016, has experienced five consecutive months of slowdown and is now starting to post very low levels of growth. Overall, business conditions are set to remain challenging across the continent with low sales growth and higher price inflation expected.
but the main issue is, Nigeria is going to loose the biggest economy in Africa to South africa before July 2017.

The Naira has continued to appreciate against the dollar at the parallel market, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. The Nigerian currency on Tuesday afternoon traded at N420 (buying rate) and N430 (selling rate), while the Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N530 and N450 respectively. Trading on the floor of the Bureau De Change (BDC) showed that the Naira closed at N400 to a dollar, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro traded at N545 and N480 respectively. The Naira remained stable at the interbank market, exchanging at N307.50 to a dollar. Traders at the market said that they were happy with the performance of the Naira at the market, adding that it would lead to the fall in the prices of goods and services nationwide. Meanwhile, Mr Emefiele Godwin, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), said that the bank was optimistic to see the further convergence of the official and parallel market rates. Emefiele said this, while fielding questions from newsmen .

It will still go down more, but not to #10,
It will go down as a result of removing out billions of naira for dividend payment.
It will start going up gradually again after the payment as a result of re-investment of the dividend, if the share holders decides to do so.
Their payment date is tomorrow 23th of March 2017.

Part 4: TECHNICAL ANALYSIS FOR BEGINNERS

Second Cycle

The second cycle is what most active traders/investors know. This is what I termed - Calendar Year Cycle. I have observed that majority of NSE stocks exhibit high magnitude of impulse (bullish/bearish) twice in a year (few show it thrice). The first period span between mid-January – June and the second from September – November. Of course, this is not absolute!

I can hear someone saying I know this before…then if you know this, why are you in the market place every time? We can minimise our loses and rather capitalised on market cycles to make money by understanding and focusing our analysis on these periods.

The chart below is the weekly bar chart for Zenith Bank; It shows the stock calendar year cycle between Aug 2011 till date. The Start of bullish runs is with blue cycle and magenta cycle marks the end.

…have a successful trading day

oga bull & bear mkt....Good morning.Honestly i have been following your technical analysis on the stock market.I will like to know all it will take me to trade on FCMB stock(JIJO) technically after it is marked down for dividend next month.

The second stock i will like to do JIJO on is FBN.Pls kindly show me the way to enable me know when a stock is showing a sign of bull run and bear run.

I am very good in accessing stocks fundamentally but it's like technicals work most in Nigeria stock market.

Thanks.

Is like you belong to my team.
I believe much in dividend inform of capital appreciation than payment date.
If you sale a day before the closure of register/mark down, that mean you pay yourself dividend.

I have a strong feeling if Nigeria is out of recession, big cap stocks will be the prime winners and fundamentals may be applied in accessing, buying and selling stocks.Any contrary opinion?pls discuss.

Oga Loco, Fundamentals works very well for Nigerian stocks more than anywhere else, you just need to support it with Technical in order to know entry & exit pts; especially in a bear market when massive Bullish runs is like a mirage.

Contrary opinion. Big cap coys that depend on importation of materials abroad will continue to lag behind as long as NGN-Dollar disparity is high, this is where "fundamentally" sound small caps with local materials will out-perform the market. This is a fact. That is what Trump is trying to do in the US... He want to bring down dollars to help big coys grow
