I don't know about a pit bull, but a rottie is not dangerous( well,depending on the way u train it). Case in point: I once went to my uncles house, who had 2 rotties. The dogs are fed twice daily and caged for about 16 hours daily( they are released from 10pm to 6am). Every evening for 3 days I always stand and watch the dogs cause I am a die-hard lover of dogs( thinking of getting myself two rotties when I start my NYSC program), one evening the gate-guy was feeding the dogs and the one dat barks at me most got out and I was standing just about 10 feet from the cage( my brain was in overdrive dat split second; either to run or stay, I finally decided to stay). The dog just cast a glance at me and walked away and started running all over the compound. It was then I now summoned courage to run into the house. I can tell you all that if you have to ask this question, you are asking the wrong question. If you have any large or medium large dog, you have the potential for a grave tragedy should anything go left. Pit bulls do not bite down with 2000 psi of force (more like average 200 - 500 psi of force typical of dogs their size). The difference is in their bite, hold, and shake ferocity when the do attack (and ability to wade through mountains of pain in a sheer determination to come out on top). Nevertheless, if you work everyday (and I mean everyday) to socialize your dog and always respect that he is an animal that does not speak human, you will learn him/her and he/she will learn of you. Discourage aggressive behaviors and make yourself the pack leader every time. When you can no longer provide the leadership required to keep the dog balanced, surrender him/her. When you can no longer exrcise, feed, and or provide vet care for the dog, surrender him/her. The potential is always there for some kind of violent confrontation, even under the best of circumstances (you cannot control all external factors in environment, mouse running wild, cat running wild, thunder, fireworks, blackouts, some unknown sickness to the dog, or just a misread of cues from the animal), so you must be vigilant. Never leave a pitbull or Rottweiler around children, the sickly or elderly, or unknown environments full of people and/or animals. If there were ever a chance for an attack with the greatest liability, that would be the worst timing. The pit bull is nearly unstoppable because of his unwavering determination to dominate and the Rottweiler would be unstoppable because of his sheer size.

I am surprised by most of these posts! BOTH the Pitbull & Rottweiler are the 2 most dangerous dogs , with the most human fatalities
recorded EVERY year. The pit being more unstable. But all these pit owners on every forum claim those dogs can beat a Lynx, Lion, bear, etc. NOT TRUE!

While living in the backwoods of FL , I met a construction foreman who owned a ROTT that he called 2 Dogs! The Dog was so big he WOULD put his paws and head on top of my honda prelude while standing in his hind legs. I have been around wild pit bull hunting dogs and they are intimidating but nothing would scare me or my friends like that 200lb dog whose head was the size of a basketball !!!!

After moving to southern CA I confirmed with Caesar Milan that the largest of male Rotts at 180- 200+lbs would be much more dangerous
than a large pit bull at 80lbs, even fight trained. They are both aggressive but the bite force and RAW power of a ROTT that size would kill
you much easier. A pit would be no match!!!

You all talk about dogs as if they are monsters. A dog is a whatever you make him to become. Have you heard about Hulk Pitt bulls. I bet you won't be comparing a Rott or even a Boerboel to them just by first impression. But as large as a Hulk Pitt bull is, it well socialised. That I think makes him not different from others. Every dogs needs training... Pittbulls have a natural cannibalism traits if not train that's why it's more preferred for dog Fight. Rott the other hand are originally breed as Shepherd Dogs. How you rare your dogs is what matters... I don't believe pittbulls are tougher neither do I believe Rott are tougher... Even Some Boerboels are far more dangerous having a ban in 18 developed nations. we shouldn't castigate a particular breed because we fail to let them socialise. Some Nigerians even go as far as giving their dog weed and Alcohol forgetting the fact that hepatitis B and some other disease can infect such lovely dogs..

By the way I talked about Hulk Pitt bulls, its a new breed formed by one guy sha... you will be amazed at this

Pitbulls can be very dangerous and have caused 5 times more harm to humans than Rottweilers (from a reliable source) . Rottweilers are aggressive and determined but usually very calm , this is what makes them less dangerous ( a young rottweiler especially females would bark at you for a while when in public but at home they rarely bark, if a rottweiler keeps barking non stop for up to 3 minutes just because it can see you, it will definitely chase and bite you when given a chance and wouldn't listen to their owners untill at least a bite into your calves - very painfully) .

Rottweilers can be dangerous but not deadly and wild - they are domesticated breeds

Are Rottweilers bite force is 328 psi, boerboel-600-800 psi, kangal 750(approx) pitbull- roughly 215.....---rottweilers do not have the strongest bite or jaw

I have a Rott and a german Sheperd and he is a very friendly dog. The pitbull, mastif, doberman etc were trained for fight/war and so they are very deadly. But it all depends on how you train your dog. The pit has a Locked Jaw that  will only release after it plucks off your flesh. But i like them both. i like the rott as a pet and as a watch dog and the Pitbull as a watch dog. I would like to add the pitbull and a mastiff to my dog list.

The Pit is a Good dog, same as the Rot but i so much love my Rotweiler. He is friendly with kids, other dogs but not all the time. he understands me very well.

But the best breed of dog to train is a German Sheperd ( they are so intelligent)
