I started out with blender and it was fun but I decided to test my hands on Maya for about a month. On returning to blender after being comfortable with Maya everything changed. Blender became difficult with me mistaking Maya's shortcut keys for blender"s. Even if I switch blender's presets for Maya it didn't solve the issue. I've ever since settled for Maya. Bottomline, it is difficult trying to be good with different applications that can perform the same function.

It's difficult at first, but it still gives you an edge. I'm comfortable with Blender and 3ds max, and I still find my way around maya You find your way around the shortcuts after a while.

I already know how to make a object like bowl,cup etc.but the problem their is putting color and all kind of things to make it attractive, maybe is because i dont understand the texturing.
pls if you have a good tutorial that explain all aspect of the blender(both color,texturing)

everything was done in blender. no pic was used.. i made the shelf using simple cubes and did a little subdivision and finally some random colors for the books because of my system memory i didint use any texture for the books but rather a random color for them.

You guys are amazing!!! Please let's keep this thread alive. I just started learning blender from scratch a few days ago and I'd like to ask a quick question. Roughly how long does it take to complete say, a 1 minute animation? Pardon my naivety, I'm a total newbie willing to learn.
