Good morning, I only registered for 2 semesters.

It depends on how convenient it is for you, You can decide to run the program for 2 or 3 semesters.

The only thing keeping me from graduating is project (which is why he said it's for a year and half. It takes NOUN forever to Approve Project Topic, So it's advisable you submit your project topics for approval while you are still in your First semester)
Thetherapist:

Good day, please what is the duration of the PGD? Someone just said 3 semesters and I was thinking its just a 2 semester course. Can you please clarify this as you are also doing PGD. Any other person can help expantiate on this too. Thanks and hope to hearing back from you

that is not the case here, After the trip we are ask to write report that will be access and send to Headquarter. I dont know maybe the report will served as exam or we will still write the exam?
that is their own way of making money, the report will not be used for any assessment. Any thing outside tma, exam, siwes/IT and project is not compulsory for noun student even practical classes. I believe they want you to get the knowledge that is why that field trip was organise but the fee is too much. Imagine if exam would have commenced on march 20, their business will spoil

Today, I am going to share with you a short way to know your GPA and CGPA at National Open University of Nigeria.. Many people get confused about the fact that they have perform poorly in the tenure at the school. so if you are the new comers. here is little things you need to know before you start gambling in the school campus.. Just sit Down and read it..
what is GPA AND CGPA ?
GPA denotes Grade Point Average while CGPA denotes Cumulative Grade Point Average
The difference between the two lies in the fact that GPA is the standard of your academic performance in a particular semester while CGPA is the standard of your academic performance from the commencement of your programme till date.
CALCULATION OF GPA AND CGPA
I will use three courses to illustrate the technique in order to make it easier for you to understand.
After your TMAs and exams, your academic performance in all the courses you took in a particular semester is called GPA calculated thus:
Course 1:
Code. PHY 102
Grade. 60/100
Points. 4 points
Units. 3 units
GP=3*4=12
Course 2:
Code. LAW 111
Grade. 70/100
Points. 5 points
Units. 2 units
GP=5*2=10
Course 3:
Code. CIT 101
Grade. 50/100
Points. 3 points
Units. 3 units
GP=3*3=9
GPA:
GP for PHY 102=12, GP for LAW 111=10 , GP for CIT 101=9
GPA=total GP/total credit units=12+10+9/3+2+3=31/8=3.88
If in the next semester, you obtain a GPA of 30/7, for instance, your CGPA at that time will be 31+30/8+7=61/15=4.07
CLASSES OF DEGREE
First Class (70-100) CGPA (4.5-5)
Second Class Upper (60-69) CGPA(3.5-4.49)
Second Class Lower (50-59) CGPA (2.4-3.49)
Third Class (45-49) CGPA(1.5-2.39)

HOW TO REGISTER YOUR COURSES AND EXAMS*

1. Visit www.nouonline.net

2. Log in with your matric number and password as required

3. Click on the Menu button (if you are using mobile phone) and click on "Registration" and then click on "semester registration" to register your semester.

4. Fill the form that appears.

*NOTE*:
(i) Under "Semester", select "1st Semester 2017" (meaning the first semester that u are experiencing in 2017... _remember that the school has two semesters in a year_).

(ii) Under "Semester Count", you are meant to fill in the total number of _*Active*_ semesters that you have spent in NOUN till date. Hence, if you are currently in 2nd semester of 300 level, it means that your semester count is *6*. The semester count is what determines the courses that will load into your portal after you complete this registration.

(iii) You will not be able to do any course registration until there is enough money in your e-wallet to cover such registrations. You will also not be able to do any exam registration for any course if such a course had not been previously registered under course registration.

5. When you are done with all these, you can click on "Print" to print out the form (advisable) and/or click on "Submit" in order to submit your entry.

6. When this is done, you can then proceed to click on "Register Courses" and then "Register Exams" to fill the required information and complete your course and exam registrations respectively.

MEANING OF SEMESTER COUNT

Semester Count is the number of semesters you have spent in NOUN including your current semester. For example, if you are in 100Level second semester, it means you have spent two semesters in NOUN. Therefore, your semester count is two.

You will be asked your semester count when registering on the portal.

If you are in 300L first semester, your semester count is 5.

Below is the meticulous breakdown.

100L first semester, semester count = 1
100L second semester =2
200L first semester =3
200L second semester = 4
300L first semester = 5
300L second semester = 6
400L first semester = 7
400L second semester = 8

NOUN will kill somebody O
NOUN will kill somebody O

Hi all
I just heard this news from a friend and the person is in a state of confusion.

Ok this friend was a student of NOUN - Port Harcourt center and according to her as at last year April 2016, she has finished all the courses required for graduation.

Now, up till now April 2017 the center is yet to release the graduating list. A full year gone, now her problem is she just got a job offer in PH for 100K and they want to see her certificate or statement of result which she doesn't have yet.

Is it that she could just lose this job offer if she doesn't provide a her certificate for a job she is very much qualified for ?
Why has NOUN become so incompitent, they used to be better than this.
Please, who can provide a recommendation or solution to this girls situation.

TMA UPDATE FROM GAZELLE OFFICE

TMA is an abbreviation for Tutor-marked assignment, a National Open University of Nigeria way of conducting continuous assessment test for their teeming students as required by National Universities Commission, NUC.

Right from last semester when previous NOUN portal was shutdown as a result of showdown between NOUN management and Cyberspace Network Ltd, rumor struggled for space across social media pages that TMA will be changed to CMA. Most striking features, according to the mongers of this rumor, was that CMA will no longer be printable. In addition, the tension creators claimed that questions must be submitted once opened, else, one will be scored automatically.

We the independent and critical observers analyzed the claims contained in the rumor and found that practically impossible when related to Nigerian infrastructural capacity and level of income. We had no option than to dismiss such rumor in its entirety.

In the midst of the rising tension however, some officials of the school intervened to confirm that major changes in the TMA portal was in the offing.

Fast forward to March 2017, TMA questions were released. True to our predictions, the claims in the rumor were wrong though there were some major alterations in the functionalities of the TMA portal.

TMAs were printable, but longer printer-friendly. Unlike before when several TMAs can be opened in different tabs in a browser, now it is practically impossible. Loading TMA1 and TMA2 for instance in two different tabs of the same browser will only end up opening either TMA1 or TMA2 at the same time. Furthermore, the portal was very sluggish.

The numbering of the TMAs were no longer static but dynamic. The numbering changes as one reloads or logs in and out. That makes submissions a bit more hectic. Submitting solved TMA was another nightmare as it may keep bouncing back after the stress of locating the questions one after the other.

Today, Wednesday, April 5th, TMA portal was shutdown for upgrade. According to the school, it will be reopened tomorrow, Thursday, 12noon.

Recall that similar challenges were experienced on the students main portal before it was shutdown and upgraded. Now, everything is functioning at its near fullest capacity.

Will the TMA portal shutdown and upgrade improve the speed and functionality of the portal? Only time will tell..

From your one and only, GAZELLE...reporting from Owerri, Imo State.

*IF YOU PAID INTO YOUR PORTAL AND IT IS NOT REFLECTING*

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PAID YOUR SCHOOL FEE (EITHER VIA INTERNET BANKING OR THROUGH BANK PAYMENTS), HERE ARE STEPS TO TAKE TO MAKE YOUR MONEY REFLECT IMMEDIATELY (IN CASE YOUR MONEY DIDN'T REFLECT ON TIME AFTER PAYMENT).

1. ONCE THE TRANSACTION IS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED AND YOU HAVE THE PAYMENT RECEIPT, LOG ON TO THE SCHOOL PORTAL www.nouonline.net AND THEN CLICK ON RRR CHECK (AT THE HOME PAGE... MEANING YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOGIN YET).

2. ENTER THE RRR CODE INTO THE SPACE PROVIDED (BUT WITHOUT INCLUDING THE HYPHEN/DASHES)

3. SELECT THE PURPOSE OF PAYMENT (IF YOU ARE PAYING INTO YOUR PORTAL, THEN THE PURPOSE OF PAYMENT WILL BE "WALLET FUNDING"wink

4. SUBMIT THE FORM AND YOU WILL SEE A NOTIFICATION WHICH SAYS "TRANSACTION SUCCESSFUL" AND IT ALSO SHOWS YOU THE TRANSACTION DETAILS. (IF IT WRITES OTHERWISE, PLEASE RETRY THE PROCESS IMMEDIATELY OR MUCH LATER. JUST MAKE SURE IT SHOWS A SUCCESSFUL TRANSACTION NOTIFICATION BEFORE YOU PROCEED TO THE NEXT STEP)

5. GO BACK TO THE HOME PAGE OF THE SITE AND THEN LOGIN TO YOUR PORTAL. THE MOMENT YOU LOGIN, CLICK ON "MANAGE WALLET" AND THEN IN THE DROP DOWN, CLICK ON "CHECK WALLET PAYMENT". FILL IN THE RRR CODE AS YOU DID EARLIER.

6. AFTER SUBMITTING THE FORM AS INSTRUCTED IN THE ABOVE STEP, YOU WILL SEE A NOTIFICATION AGAIN TELLING YOU THE TRANSACTION IS SUCCESSFUL.

7. LOG OUT AND LOGIN AGAIN, YOU WILL SEE THE MONEY LOADED IN YOUR WALLET LIVE!

SO GUYS YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR AGES AGAIN FOR FUNDS TO REFLECT AUTOMATICALLY IN YOUR WALLET.. YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF.

I ALSO WANT TO INFORM YOU THAT THE ISSUE WITH ZENITH BANK HAS BEEN RESOLVED AND YOU CAN NOW MAKE PAYMENTS WITH ZENITH BANK.

FINALLY, I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU NOT TO USE YOUR PHONE TO REGISTER COURSES AND EXAMS BECAUSE YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PRINT THEM OUT LARGER. ONCE YOU SUBMIT AND LOGOUT, YOU WILL NO LONGER HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRINT IT LATER.

THOSE THAT MUST HAVE COMPLETED THEIR REGISTRATION WITH THEIR PHONES MAY HAVE TO VISIT THE STUDY CENTRE FOR ASSISTANCE IN PRINTING THEIR SLIPS.

I doubt much if the issue had been resolved.
After going to firstbank, the cashier said no network, i then move to ecobank the same no network (i don't know y must cashier don't like accepting remita payment )
At the end i enter Zenith bank base on what u wrote here, the rrr check shows successful, but the confirm status after i logged in shows rrr not found.
Pls crosscheck your source of info let kn what is wrong
Thanks
