...I totally agree with you on the fact that "Anyone who is not adept at trading stocks on the NSE should stay away from oando". But not only OANDO, but to stay away from any stock for that matter.

Contrary to your statement, characteristics of a "dying company" listed on any stock exchange (& not only NSE) is that its stock price continue to fall until it is delisted. Given, OANDO price has declined from over 20 to 5+, but this is general to almost listed stocks on NSE, except few...
However, this stocks have been rising at least from December 2016. Technically, if it was dying, it is coming back to life again, perhaps.

Stock price movt are not embedded only in financial report, other factors are involved...

I do not know much about this market but Oando is a dying company. The signs are there for all to see. That the price has been rising since December is the more reason why people should be very careful. Making money in this market is sheer guts and sometimes luck. Mobil and NIPCO for instance.

...I think the challenges most of us have is our mentality of BUY and KEEP; DIVIDEND HUNTING and old/conventional way of investing. These are great! But you do these successfully when your country's economy is buoyant. We are in recession (or just coming out); Crude oil price has been falling since 2014 & only started rising... lot of things are affecting OANDO and everything is shown on the stock price.

Making consistent money in stock market IS NOT "sheer guts and sometimes luck". You should know what you are doing. Anyone who rely on mother luck will sooner than later loose all his money in stock market...

Stock market price don't always tell you about a dying company. There is nothing like old mentality here. We all have different ways to approach the market and one of the most reliable ways of preserving your capital in stock market is to be able to read company financial and take a proactive step before others could see anything either positive or negative.
And before I forget,Oando problems started well before recession. When oando was selling at a very high price, those who knew then warned some of us about the danger ahead with oando and we didn't listen. I now understand better.

"These conditions indicate the existence of material uncertainty which may cast significant doubt on the Company’s ability to continue as a going concern and, therefore, the Company may be unable to realise its assets and discharge its liabilities in the normal course of business. "

Your assessment of the company's stock might be right or wrong, but I've learnt not to argue with MM. My advise is to follow your analysis (fundamental/technical) and know the right time to enter or exit a trade...

From the recent move of the stock, it definitely shows the company is doing something right. Sorry, I don't even know how to interpret coy results, but looking at the chart, OANDO price has been on the rise since Dec 2016. Even with billions of debts hanging on their neck, they are able to produce profit of 3.5billion after tax deduction (according to posts I've been reading)...

The coy might have sold some of their asset for several reasons; debt reduction, sell off unprofitable marginal fields, focus on good assets etc

PLEASE WHAT DID YOU MEAN BY THE WORD "MM"?

For Those Who Care...

Below is the comparison of Crude oil price and OANDO plc NSE stock price. The stock started declining heavily since 2014 as a result of world crude oil fall. Couple with Nigeria economy downturn, it has a great negative impact on the activities of not only OANDO but almost all Oil & Gas stocks all over the world.

I am not advocating for anyone to BUY the stock, but if it was dying, it was caused by oil price (the company line of business) & the country's economic problem and since December 2016, it has started showing sign of coming back to life as the oil price is rising too...

The way so many people are crying more than the bereaved here, honestly I don't get it. We all are here to make money and not to discourage those with guts from doing wht they think works for them . I know how much people have made from oando since three days and people are here crying . If you did not buy oando ,pls allow those that bought to enjoy their loots. Nobody is dying inside oando ,we are all jumping in and out and making money. Business is all about risk, its either you win or you loose. So stop bad mouthing oando and allow those that are making money to enjoy their money . Even the stocks that gave dividend has not given anyone so much profit like oando has given since on Monay. Am outta here ,back to my spectator mood

If you have bought a good stock, you don't have to fret much about what people are saying on this forum. Stock prices do not respond to our analysis/opinion here.
It is all about sharing ideas, information and the like and in the process we learn one or two more things. Oando is making money for some people and will continue to do so.Goodluck to oando faithfuls.

Tuale to those people in the house with enough kindness in their hearts and experience to caution others about the scam called Oando. Those of us that were on this forum in 2014, remember how the O n O boys took complete control of this forum, ranting about how Oando would make billionaires of us very soon. The share price dived from N20 to N5 thereafter, within a short period. Their management then decided to withhold results to hide the true position of things. Wale Tinubu will use any trick in the book to deceive shareholders into believing Oando is still a going concern. The day it will collapse on your heads, you'll be trapped with no one to buy from you.
All these new fancy guys with their fancy charts spewing nonsense about technicals, you'll soon understand why the NSE is called a scam market grin
