mylollipop,

We are experts in visas. For schools, you will have to do your own research. Much of this information is easily available online.

@abujaniv thanks for answering my previous question but pls I want to know if it's true that if someone hasn't traveled out before, that one might be denied us student visa. i.e if one hold a 'virgin' passport, one might be denied. 'cos I keep hearing before you apply to us embassy, you must have traveling experience to other countries before
Re: U.S. Student Visa (F1, M1, & J1) Forum - We're Listening by abujaniv: 1:11pm On Apr 06, 2017
spothot,

Previous travel is just one thing that we look at. We approve many people every day who have never traveled before, because they otherwise demonstrate their non-immigrant intent. And we deny many people every day who thought that it would be better to lie about their travel history, and have fake visas and/or stamps. We discussed this issue earlier just this week, in a conversation with sugah. I recommend you read that response to understand that it is much better to just tell the truth about your travel history, even if you have never traveled, than to make something up.

Good Morning VO,

I must commend you guys for doing a great job here.

Please I need some clarifications around US point of Contact question on DS 160 form as I'm currently completing one for my F1 Visa application. I have a valid B2 visa and I provided my Cousin's details as US point of contact during the application, I have visited and currently back in Nigeria.

I have been accepted by a University for MBA program in the US and I want to apply for F1 visa.

Here is my Question:

1. US Point of Contact: Now that im applying for F1 Visa can I still use my Cousin as my US point of contact ? or should I use the Designated School Official (DSO) stated on my I-20 since I'm applying for a study visa.

I'll appreciate your feedback as I do not want to make any mistake that would be seen as misrepresentation.

Regards,

Hello duduafri. The point of contact is up to you. Think of it this way: If you had trouble getting from the airport to your next destination, would you call your cousin or a school administrator?

Hello rattlesnake. F1 applicants must satisfy the same qualifications as tourist applicants and also demonstrate that they are bonafide students able to fully fund their education. We put a lot more stock into whether an applicant's story makes sense rather than anything printed out on a piece of paper.

Hello damiliano. As far as I know, it is impossible to upload a passport. Do you have a device that can vaporize these little booklets and beam them across space for reintegration at another locale? I'd focus on patenting that machine rather than going back to school.
The only required document is the I-20 form issued by educational institution.

Dear VO,

I guess he was referring to a passport photo and secondly, are you saying F1 applicants are not required to bring along financial statements?

Hello VO,

I am new on this thread. Even though I have taken time to read through I haven't found any case similar to my interest. However, I would like to know what kind of Visa I need in order for me to attend a 3-day coaching course in the US.
Also, I would appreciate if you could list all the necessary documents I would need. I hope to start my Visa processing ahead of the course coming up early August.

Thank you.

Hello YSPON. In principle, student visas are required for degree and certificate granting programs. For short training programs, the B1/B2 visa is appropriate. Inquire with the school and proceed from there.

Thank you very much for your response. The training is not done by a school but the US soccer federation and NSCAA. Also my football club will be sponsoring me so I would like to ask if there are necessary documents I would need from my club?

Thank you.

No documents are required. You may bring all the documents you want, but in all likelihood, they will not be examined.

Is it advisable to show up for interview even when you got your I-20 over 120 days before the start of program?

Good day,

My mom applied for a B1B2 visa for me last year( I was 17 then) that was denied after she was asked for the Bill of Lading which we didn't carry along.
However, I got admission for the Fall 2017 semester and would be going for the interview in a month or two. How is the previous denial going to affect me?

Thank you.

Dear VO

Trust your doing fine..
Please I have filled my ds160 form and paid for my sevis fee.. but I just found out that the postal code on my ds160 form is not correct. Should I fill another one before I pay for my visa fee and book my interview or It does not matter.
Re: U.S. Student Visa (F1, M1, & J1) Forum - We're Listening by abujaniv: 9:28am On Apr 22, 2017
Hello uchechuwku. You should abide by the terms of the J1 exchange visa. For those that don't know, 212e refers to a requirement of certain exchange program visas. It requires the visa holder to return to their country for at least two years. This is because the program was either sponsored by a government (eg, Nigeria or the US) or because the visa holder is involved in some critical field of expertise, such as medicine or engineering. The requirement is intended to stop the so-called "brain drain" of talented people from the country that needs them most.

Some other party sponsored this visa and paid for you to study/work in the US. My advice is to fulfil your part of the bargain and pay it back to your home country.

uchechuwku:

Hello Visa Officer,

I got a J! visa last year and 212e was applied ( i didn't think much of it then)

I got another J1 visa this year and another 212e applied. However, I am thinking of applying for a waiver since i pass my board exam and i would really love to advance my career here in the US.

My question is will i be applying for two separate waiver or just one and does it mean i will need 2NOI (no objective statement) or 1 will cover both waiver (if i will be submitting two applications)

The process seems exhausting and i am confuse. My visa expires in September sad sad

Ps_ both visa is with the same sponsor (Summer student exchange)

Hello Ugoh11. So the school got its own post code wrong? Or yours? That's odd and maybe a little worrying. But it should not have a material effect on your application or interview.

Hello omoluabiguy. I'm confused by your question. If you pay for an application and interview, you should definitely show up. When you make that appointment is up to you and the school. The only firm requirement is that if you get the visa, you don't enter the US on it more than 30 days before the start of your program.
