When were you disengaged? 2006? 2011? As far as i know, there is no pension or entitlement for casual staff. This is for real. Let people be aware so they don't expect and become heart broken. If you are not pensionable,(i.e at least 10 years of confirmed employment) there is no hope for any payment. This payment is strictly for pensionable ex staff. There is no other payment such as gratuity, severance or other added.

Please have they concluded verification for core civil servants and when are they likely to commence same for parastatals, do you know ?

Hmmm..some of my colleague that we worked together as casual staff were paid then after verification in 2016. And because I was not around, I could get mine. And i Remember we did another verification exercise same early 2016 at international conference centre on omissions of our names by then Nitel staff and other stakeholders from BPE, so what do u mean there's no other pmt? Pls I need info on this pls?

between yesterday and today I got calls from 2 next of kins of the 2006 disengaged and diseased staff,both from nasarawa state, informing me that they visited the state office of nitel and were given forms to fill, about their parents and themselves, and thereafter submitted it, though they were not told when a screening would start.. pls can any one confirm this from other states?? Abia especially....
P.S someone almost killed my hope here saying nothing is coming for diseased staff......people shaaa

PTAD invited nitel and 8 other parastatal 4days ago and were told to produce 2representative each.moderlity to carry out the verification exercise to be discussed. Details later

thanks for all the updates.. Im a bit concern about other FG parastatals especially Nigeria Airways staffs.. though this is all about Nitel but we are all undergoing this payments simultaneously if I'm not mistaken.. what is the govt saying on them too..thanks for the response anticipation..

pls i need your clarification on the issue of "pension payment", does it also include disengaged staff (diseased and living) who have never received any pension so far OR only for pensioners?

Disengaged + pensioners are both involved. The payout was calculated late last year at the accountant generals office@toast

Good news. Will this 299 Billiion Naira be released at once as a lump sum to all parastatal's pensioners once verification is completed or it will be spread over some time?

We should also understand that approval does not mean the money is already available and cash backed. This is a huge sum that government may not have sitting in one account. It has to be planned for.

Matter of fact, his doubts was quite unnecessary since you reported that the fund is not subject to 2017 budget which technically means that the fund was already available.

Hello all. I met with one of the senior officers representing NITEL retirees. Matter of fact, he gave me a photo copy of a letter written by PTAD conveying approval for the inclusion of NITEL into the monthly pension payments. The letter asked the Head of NITEL Pensioners to submit details of pensioners on or before 5th May 2017. The letter also said modalities for verification will be worked out between representatives of NITEL pensioners and PTAD. The verification will commence in the coming weeks. Things are finally looking good.
I specifically asked him of the release of 299 Billion for payment to all parastatals. He said he is not aware of that because he said PTAD just wants to put the NITEL Pensioners and all the other parastatal pensioners on Monthly pensions. He said that quoted sum is close to what is required to cover the pension arrears but PTAD said the approval from the President through Minister of Finance is just for inclusion into monthly pensions. I am confident that by July, the monthly pensions will start to be paid.

I heard that the suspended SGF advised the presidency to place NITEL and other parastatals pensioners on monthly pension instead of been paid off. Although, that is commendable but i hope the 10 years arrears will be paid, and more impportantly paid in bulk rather than been paid in bits like they did to NPA.

He chaired the committee that instructed a sub-committee to work on placing Nitel (disengaged) staff on monthly pensions for life. He reportedly tongue-lashed the BPE representative who told the committee that they were done with Nitel having paid them off. He was said to have asked the man how he would fill if he were to suffer such misfortune after his meritorious service to the nation. We actually owe the man a lot for the restoration of our right - pensions for life.
