For all those who dont know uber philosophy I will explain some things here

Uber came to Nigeria. They created a niche for themselves. They created a class for themselves. Your car must be 2009 and above less 100,000 Kms ( 62,500miles.
All these they achieved with other people's cars.
They knew it wasn't sustainable.

But wanted to created that class.

Now they have reduced the requirements to any 2003.

The return on investment for a 2010 corolla and above is low compared to 2003.
Basically they will edge out high end cars leaving only 2003 and 04.

I don't rev above 3000 rpm and I don't go above 100 kmh when with riders. and I don't drive above 50kmh when alone and looking for riders

the car has a 7100 rpm limit and likes to be pushed hard. high revs require much fuel

Ho ho ho! grin

Uber is now accepting 2003 cars! So your 2012 corolla is now on the same level as a 2003 matrix. Don't be confused o. Uber is looking to quickly fill the large gap that will be created as more and more partners run away from the platform.

And For those taking about surge today: it is NOT due to increased demand via rider numbers o! It is due to reduced supply in terms of driver numbers!
Let's see how it plays out!

That's it. I don pull my 2009 corolla. Very soon Camry pencil light will soon make it.

Uber and taxify are Bastards. They only care about their commissions. What happens to your car your investments and you physically and mentally is none of their business.

Protesting against business decision,I thought if you dont like it you quit, is not by force...

And why are you guys not crucifying Taxify, they started it all, since you love Taxify simply quit Uber, and do only taxify.

That is what was posted on WhatsApp group I belong, you guys should understand the ethics of business as regards labour law. Peaceful protest, strike is part of the tools to show grievances.

Uber makes a hell of profit in Nigeria more than any other country they exist, the onus lies on Uber/Taxify to reach a consensus to harmonize Taxi hailing in Nigeria without government intervention.

This is pure exploitation due to lack of government regulations.

If you protest against only Uber, then you are giving Taxify free hand, and the real culprit is Taxify.

They are the one behind all this.

If Taxify dont go back to formal rate, then Uber should stand it ground. It cant be only Uber.

If Uber reverse, then Taxify will steal all Uber riders.

Car owners should be wise and take off their vehicles, until everything gets back to normal.

Yes, Taxify created the whole issue but Uber failed to play the game well, if Taxify is extremely cheap for riders, I believe they will revert their price cos they will have few drivers to do the job.
Now, if Uber revert, I bet it Taxify will have no choice than to do same.

All parties need to enjoy the business not the principal initiator alone.

Some of this people calling for protest, might actually be Taxify agents, doing everything possible to make sure Uber reverse to the old price, giving Taxify the opportunity to take most Uber riders.

Hundreds of cars rejected by Uber will do the job, and most riders will just ignore Uber and join Taxify. Dont just think one sided, think all aspect.

Remember in Nigeria anything cheap sells fast. Which will result to Taxify gaining more ground and kicking Uber out.

Didi Chuxing use such strategy to kick Uber out of China.

Believe me Uber is loosing revenue, with this price reduction, but they have to do it, to remain competitive.

Pls start up a serious protest against Taxify, they are the one frustrating the business not Uber.

40% slash price strategy of Taxify and Uber required heavy subsidies to both riders and drivers, and that strategy will surely cost both companies.
At the moment I don’t think any of them is making money.
They might finally call for a truce and form an alliance, but before that will happen one company will sell to the other.
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by eluquenson(m): 11:28pm On May 06, 2017
Taxify is no longer lucrative for any party, the forces of low supply will change their business decision

Drivers that prefer Taxify to Uber on former rate not any longer with this new fare.

It is a simple labour dispute to be resolved over time, just like doctors, Lecturers, Uber/Taxify drivers are fighting for better wages.

Quitting is an option a well as strike/protest is also an option.

I dont think its out of place to protest. I think its out of place to mock those who went offline or those who chose to protest.

Lets not forget that Uber/Taxify have no vehicles.
They depend on us for their revenue.
This latest move by the apps is too boost their income not to boost income of partners.
They want to make it cheap so that alot more people will use their app.
Uber has reduced their car year to 2003. This is to get more people on board.

Take these scenarios,
Uber has 1000 drivers who generate an average of N300000 per month. That is 300 million of which 25% is N75000000

Or

Uber has 10000 drivers who generate an average of 100000 per month, that's 1billion Naira of which 25% is N250000000

The second scenario is their strategy.

Less money for partners more money for them.

Anyone who thinks this current regime was borne out of the interest of drivers should bury that thought.
At least I know 10 cars that did not work since Thursday.
I know about 15cars working on taxify that were not allowed on uber due to model year now with this reduction all of them may come on board.

The effects of all these will be reduced earnings for drivers and partners

Are you an uber agent? Do you know people already made commitment that runs into millions based on the so called uber terms? What do you expect them to do thereafter.
You don't also see anything wrong in their 25% while Taxify does 5%.
Your likes cannot frustrate the protest against this wicked decision.

I agree with this. What is the problem with registering the same cars with both competitors? You basically play their games against them and you pick and choose where you accept jobs. If Uber is quiet, you turn on Taxify and vice versa. Outsmart them! The companies are trying to maximise their profits and partners should also be looking for ways to maximise their profits too!
