For those who think miui is a small thing, I currently am in possession of a Redmi 2 I ordered for a friend from Jumia about a year ago. What happened is that she forgot the pattern lock she used on it, and had to employ the services of a technician to get it flashed. Problem is they couldn't get pass the stage to login mi password, and phone has been useless for some time now . Right now phone is back, all I had to do was input the right password after connecting to WiFi.

Yea, so long you have a mi account for the phone, you can lock it even with pc if it is stolen.

Gptech:
Aliexpress na, or other Chinese sites like Gearbest.

What if the thief switched off the phone immediately after stealing it? The phone would be offline and would not be visible on your Mi account.

Would the phone still prompt subsequent user for a password even if you locked it while it was switched off i.e. offline?

Please indulge me, just trying to understand this security feature.

Naim worse pass sef, especially wen u get Fingerprint lock enabled too, d only way na for am to flash d phone, and if e try am, e don jam rock. Also, if he decide not to switch off, anytime u get chance, just login to mi cloud on the Internet and lock ur phone, whether he off am or not naim sabi, phone don turn useless for am.
