That blade is a blade of torture and unimaginable anguish, the blade with some incantations was used on Rebecca to desiccate her in order to get a means of channelling her strength, papa tunde never stabbed her with it, the reason she could not die was because only the white oak stake can truly kill, the others died instantly in the dessication process. That blade was not designed to kill, but to torture whosoever was unfortunate enough to get stabbed by it.
