Kindly get your login details from the agent if you dont have it and monitor your application yourself. Your application is within the normal processing time for nigerian applicant. Just relax and be diligent in your prayers.

Well, I can feel your pain. The one my wife used was issued at the big elephant bank. Though they admit funds can be exported under the cbn forex policies and the letter is issued based on trust and no staff of the bank or the bank itself should be held responsible for blah blah blah... A disclaimer as they call it. So try your luck

Thank Markab.

If I get you right, I think you are talking about First Bank right? Cos they are the ones giving me this tough time, Zenith Bank not excluded. I even went to the head office today and it's same bull shit story i'm told. Please which of the branches? I reside in Lagos and it's not even funny. Maybe if you can give me the branch and all, I can you know....

I hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

Nice one. I got the offer but can't go for that course again because I got offer in Concordia University. The does not really sound friendly and stingy.

Did Prof. Chris Zhang mentioned anything about funding?
Secondly, you can apply for NDDC scholarship closing this Friday and finally once your 2/2 is 3.0 above on WES rating your admission is very sure.

Best Regards.

You need to argue it out with them, CBN forex control policies allows you to export.... See its no a matter of what bank exactly different branches of the same bank might have different opinions on this.. It depends on how enlightened the person you meet is.... Go back to the bank open a domicillary account and ask them for Refrence in that case they should be able to add that clause that the money can be exported because money can be transferred straight to abroad from a dollar account

I pray you meet the right person sha.... Which state are you in?

I tried, I argued and try to make them reason but it tends to fall on deaf years......it's like the only thing delaying me right now from submission. I don't think I can go tru the stress of opening a domicillary account right now with the issue of funding it et al... however i reside in Lagos....First Bank, Zenith and UBA are the banks i have in question here...

will really be glad if anyone can give me info if they have succeeded in securing one...Though Markab has a little bit been of help. I just wish i Know the branch or something.

Please I am trying to make contact with the Accra Immigration cos I believe they are the one in charge of study permit. Do the house not think one should confirm from them or something if this Foreign Reference/Bank Assurance whatever is been called is applicable to EVERYBODY seeking for a study permit and that the usual letter of reference/guarantee will not suffice?

Or am I just the only one thinking this way? Cos this reference tingin is driving me nut!!!

I even met with one of the officials of Zenith Bank who happens to be abreast of this foreign reference tingin but also of the view that if at all my request will fly that it will be from the headquarters cos there's a template that CBN bla bla bla....just the same story from first bank....

Guess you applied through paper route? because if it's online, it doesn't necessarily have to go to Accra. It can go to any other visa issuing office Canada operates worldwide

Most likely Accra visa office process online study permit application. They will better understand and interprete supporting documents from Nigerian applicants since the serve nigeria and can easily request additional document(s) if need be.

hi guys, I am getting worried. I haven't gotten any information as to the status of my application in University of New Brunswick. Isn't it getting late, considering the visa processing time.

I have already started contacting supervisors for January Admission in other schools. Please who is in the same shoes as mine and what are you doing about it?

Brother/Sister, submit your application first and while your application is being processed you can worry about this. Because from the time you submit till CIC asks you for this letter might be at least a whole month after which they would give you some weeks to provide it so...save yourself precious processing time and launch your application

My brother, We cannot come and kill ourselves faa. I even spoke to a Branch Manager at Zenith Bank and he said they cant issue such letter or something. Abeg make we just attach the CBN Circular to our application and cull out some of the vital points relevant to the possibility of getting funds Exported to Canada in our SOP. My thoughts dou!!

Please can someone post the Circular here for us to analyse and see how we can frame some of the CBN relevant policies in the SOP to our advantage.

Cheers!!

When you apply online, during the form filling process, you are asked to input your current country of residence and the country where your application should be routed to, in most cases it is usually your current country of residence. If you are in Nigeria, then it is sent to accra.

They are the only one that can confirm documents emanating from applicants resident in Nigeria.

In my case, I reside in china, i was given the option to choose out of the 4 VAC in china, then my online application was sent to the one i chose.

this is the link to the eligibility form

Just follow the instructions until you see the form, fill and submit it and within four business days, someone will contact you with the actual account opening form and procedures.

Thanks a lot. I've filled the initial form. Little steps.
