Recently I joined a church, I know how to play piano but not really well. The church has a standard pianist that plays literally on every church's event. When they discovered I knew how to play, they gave me the opportunity to be playing at least 2 times a month. Honestly, I didn't see myself as a church worker because I've never been to their meeting before. I only play when they tell me to otherwise I stay at the congregation. Last Sunday, I wore a shirt with a suit trouser and a sandals to church, then I wasn't expected to tuck in my shirt with a sandals. When I got to church, the pastor ordered me out of the church to tuck in before coming inside and instructed the ushers to not let me in until I tucked in my shirt. The church was still on and I got so ashamed and embarrassed. Everybody's eyes were on me during that time.

As confused as I was, I angrily left the church that moment to another nearby church.

Then I started thinking, Do we really have to tuck in our shirts to show how holy we are in church? What do you think had prompted the pastor to order me out? Do Christians have a dressing code? Will I be judged on the final day for letting loose my shirt to church? What's your view on this?

discipline is not only though in our home even the church can still inculcate discipline in us.

You never talk watin you do . Trust me it's not your dress code, rather your attitude, you've been on surveillance unknowingly.

What I'd say is this: think of yourself as a pastor of that church. Dressed anyhow especially because the Bible didn't state any mode of dressing. But the Bible emphasized this: "Let all be done decently and in order". So if you were the pastor of that church, would you dress to please yourself or at your own comfort?
Secondly, you don't need to hold the mic., stand by the pulpit and command people to obey you at will before you are a minister of God. Anything you render to God no matter how little or insignificant is a ministration and you're more or less a pastor in that guise.
Now back to what your pastor did. You have negated his own definition of decency, moderation and orderliness. He couldn't take it hence, he ordered you out.
That however, cannot condemn you but whatever you make out of the whole issue make condemn or commend you.

What does tucking in his shirt have to do with God or his spirituality?

I'm amazed at the kind of responses we give whenever issues are raised on public forums. As a growing christian this action is sometimes enough to make one stay at home rather than go to church. I think your pastor's approach was wrong, he would have called you aside and ask you not to dress the way you did, rather than sending you out of the church like you dressed in an indecent manner. However, as a minister especially in the choir, we have dress codes, we work with uniforms and most times you are expected to be corporately dressed (suits, shirts, ties, shoes etc) Sandals may not be appropriate at such times.

Sorry about the embarrassment, and don't let it hinder your faith or stop you from doing the things you love to do. Also try to ask questions when in doubt.
