Funny enough, it would have been available to pick up today. If you checked your appointment booking page, you would see your visa is ready for collection. For now, enjoy the hustle and bustle of Lagos

What i can say is that it can be ready and not yet out for collection and going there is list wasting of money and someone on this thread did this calculation and he came back until he got a text or email from them, i believe to avoid such that was why they do send text or email to applicants

maybe because God wanted a better life for me. i did direct entry to enter the program. chemistry education unilag and in my final year. my then departmental hod (dr busari may her soul rip) introduced a software for results calculation and as unlucky as i cud get. thw software operator went to record year 1 courses which i didnt do for me and put E along with a year four course which i did and scored C then recorded as F. u cud say my hometown witches followed me well. lolx but thank God cos everything in life has a reason for happening

This sounds as error that can be corrected as long as you didn't registered for the course..

No sane lecturer or prof will continue with it because on the school or departmental system it recorded courses you registered and that should be what must be worked on..

Lemme ask if those courses they gave you A, don't you think they will reverse it without stress? I am sure you grab my point of view about recording what you didn't registered for you and nothing was done without reversal

I even knw about three of them names and easiest to get a visa from is mrs clearer and mr eric both re patient with student applicant while mr solomon d chinese looking guy denials a lot and also d skinny old looking lady(lagos embassy) while abuja embassy only one consular thats very harsh to student applicant. She is at window one and she is tall. Window two is a young looking man, he is cool.

If you attended some mushroom universities in Nigeria it's possible. I've seen students who took tests and had excellent test scores but couldn't take exams, in one stupid university like that I once attended in Nigeria, eventually only test scores were recorded as F. In fact, lots of Fs.
Funny thing is that those mushroom universities won't paste results nor can you check what's on file till your final year.

I don't think you even understand the post at all because how can a course you didn't registered for you are awarded E and it was processed..

If the course you ain't registered for they gave you A, what will you think will happened?

I find this very hard to believe. Except you graduated in like year 2000-2003 o. That kind of thing can't happen in Unilag. What happened to CITS that your department HOD would have his or her own software. Oh so there's even a software to use, meaning you probably graduated between 2008 and this year. And CITS was functional then, post ume was even computer based. So in Education an HOD used software to spoil your CGPA and you didn't go to DSA or Senate or even the CITS. You're a joker sir. Sell another story. They changed 2:2 to third class for you and you're telling us cool story here.lol. Don't spoil Unilag's reputation o biko. People would start thinking HODs can make their own software to calculate GPA for them. HODs don't even record anything, the lecturers submit the result to the department and the department takes the results to the senate for approval. Mistakes like that can only come from CITS and it can't be that bad or else it'll affect the whole department in which case it'll be resolved. So accept your Grade and don't blame Software sir.

Lol... You are taking this far.. grin grin grin

The Nigeria that me i know oo..anything is possible even stranger story has been told. Your experience might not be the norm yes but there are so many experience heard outside of the norm as well in Naija Uni settings.

Until it happens to you it easy to dismiss ...... then when it does you say Ahhhh anything is really possible for this our jungle..... Then or As we say it is well and we carry on

Yes anything is possible but not in aspect of the classes you don't registered for at all and you are given either a bad or good grade
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 11 by Walspring: 12:00pm On May 29, 2017
anodebeanthony:
Exactly, anything is possible in Nigeria. Especially in Naija Universities. I remember when I was in my 100 level, my GPA was 4.50, but the game changed when I was in 200 level lol, they pack D, E, F (Long story). Now am in my 300 level my GPA has dropped drastically although not bad (3.47) for some who was once on top, it is bad. I know what happened but was discouraged by my friends to let it go (because If I push it, I might not graduate with my set).

But when am explaining what happened to people they see it as nothing because they are not the one experiencing it.

In fact, Nigeria schools knows how to kill someone's destiny, I vividly remember when I was in secondary school (S.S 1) was supposed to major in science after my S.S 1 but I made more A's and B's in Art subjects than Sciences and that's how I was forced to go to Art class (I can't do anything because I was barely 12 years) and that's how my dream to study Computer Science died (working on switching to Computer Science).

Lemme ask in that your university, Did they record grades for you in courses people did not registered for either bad o good grades?

Slept in the office for my 7am appointment because its closer to the consulate. Got there in the rain by 5:30 or so. After all the checks, queued up and the VOs came to their desks. I wanted one other slim vo because he seemed cool and patient lol, but I was asked to meet the Chinese guy - I think he should be about 32. I wouldn't say he's strict, as the interview wasn't as scary as I feared. You just need to give him or any of them good responses..

VO: good morning
me: good morning
vo: passport, i20? so why are you going to St Cloud?
me: I'm going to st cloud state university to study for an MS degree in Applied Clinical Research.
vo: how many schools did you apply to?
me: I applied to 4 schools; the university of Rhode Island, Virginia Commonwealth university, the university of Texas medical branch and St cloud state university.
vo: why st cloud?
me: I chose to attend st cloud because the clinical research program focuses on medical device research which basically aligns with my interests and I will ( vo cuts in)
vo: did you take any tests?
me: I took the GRE and TOEFL.
vo: how was your score on the GRE?
me: it was fair enough, I got 149, 149, 3.5
vo: ooh that's impressive( inside my mind I was like that one na score, you need to come GRE thread for nairaland make you see what brothers and sisters are doing to the GRE, but I was happy to hear him exclaim that way though)
vo: you do correlation and validation studies where you work( he read it off my ds160)
what's it about?
me: I told him we do it on new medical equipments and diagnostic procedures to ensure optimal standards.
vo: what's the difference between correlation and clausation?
me; I told him I wasn't sure what the difference is ( I had not heard that word in the context he was asking so I chose to be honest instead of explaining rubbish)
vo: what will this degree do for you?
me: this program will equip me with the requisite skills to be able to perform proper and ethical biomedical research upon my return to Nigeria.
vo: what's your research topic?
me: I'll be working on biosystems neuromodulation(the guy is super fast with asking questions and typing)
vo: do you have any scholarship ( looks at i20 for less than a second)?
me: no, I do not.
vo: OK, enjoy your time at st cloud.
me: thank you.
Passed i20 back with white form and said to pick up passport in three days.
Thanks to God and everyone on here for all your help. Walspring, Mekurexx, for assisting to pay fees from WES evaluation through application circle, I remain grateful. And to a kind heart Kene for adding his money to complete my sevis and pay in less than 48 hours to my interview- after my bossom friend( not from nairaland) squandered the first money I sent to him for sevis, may God bless you. Goodluck to everyone.

Congrats and enjoy your stay over there..

Cheers!!!!

Hello. I remember there was a problem with cgpa calculation. I finished 2010 and my cgpa was lower than when I calculated myself, same with some other students. We reported and they said they will work on them. I remember someone saying it's the software used at that time.

Well mine wasn't changed, I think some people who were very negatively affected were resolved. I got tired of going there, complaining and writing to HOD and CITS. It didnt affect my grade, I was still on 2.1. The diff was small sha but I felt I should have my EXACT cgpa and not less by 0.01 or more.

People please do not be quick to call someone a liar. That you haven't heard a case before doesn't mean it couldnt have happened. Do you know everything? How can you tell whether something is possible or not. The best is to ask/ probe further and see if your doubt will be cleared.

My funny question is that does the software calculate for courses that the students didn't registered for in the semester ? because i still find i hard to a school in the whole world who will calculate results for course that wasn't registered for students in a semester

See greatest akokites fighting for his school cos they are best in Nigeria but far behind in the world. This is very TRUE and POSSIBLE. Just thank your star such didn't happen to you. Something like that still happen recently, a course was remove from a student course and that drop his cgpa. the guy in question had A in this course and was able to know after his master admission ask him to retake this course as a prerequisites and he checked his transcript and see the reason for the drop in CGPA. Just keep thanking your stars.... a lot is wrong with Naija not only aso rock.... I really don't wanna talk to much but ur defense tactics made me. #GBAM

What is true and possible if i may ask?

Do you mean its true and possible for a school/department to process results for courses that was not registered in a semester on the course form ? because i am yet to see such schools in my country and the whole world

I sent money to my friend in the US to help with payment of my SEVIS, but when the Western Union agents tried, they got a prompt that the SEVIS ID had already been used.

I have not used this SEVIS ID before. Can you please advise on the line of action.

Thanks

Hi guru's in the house. My visa interview is Wednesday may 31st by 6:30AM in Lagos . I'm thinking of going tomorrow Tuesday .. Please can anyone recommend a hotel closer to the embassy that is cheap or somewhere else I can sleep to meet the 6:30AM deadline .
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 11 by chrisdavinci: 2:55pm On May 29, 2017
Should have posted this earlier. Got my VISA Approved on Friday at the US Embassy in Lagos. I want to say a big Thank You to the amazing people on this platform. I really learnt a lot from the good people here. I pray God perfect what concerns all of us.
Yh! I got to the embassy around 5:45am for my 7am appointment. I lodged in Yaba since I am not based in Lag and took an Uber to Walter Carrington. It was a rainy day tho.
Fast forward, went through all the screening and was on queue to be interviewed. There were around 4 VOs on seat and I think they had a half day so they were all kinda in a rush so the interview was much faster, that's if your case is reasonable...I believe you all know what I mean, when you not presenting a cock and bull story.

Was interviewed by a Chubby man in window 6, In my mind I was actually praying to be interviewed by him cos others just dey drop blue paper up and down.

VO: Good morning
ME: (with a larger than life smile) Good morning sir.
VO: Pass your passport and I20 please.
VO: What is your study plan?
ME: I will be going for a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M Uni Kingsville. The course requires completion of 24 credit hours; 16 hours in a Major and 8 hours in electives with completion of a research Thesis
VO: How many school did you apply to?
ME: 4, I listed them
VO: How many admitted you and how many denied you?
ME: 2 admitted, 1 on waiting list and 1 denied me
VO: Why TAMUK?
ME: because the school offers a concentration in Energy and Environmental Sustainability as part of the MSc in Chemical Engineering program with active research in the Institute of Sustainable Energy and Environment. This particularly aligns with my ultimate career goal of being a specialist in the filed of Energy and Environmental Sustainability.
VO: brings out white paper.....sincerely yours all I heard next was "Good luck with your stay" could pick up the rest of his statement.

My short tip:
Study the transcripts on here but dont memorize. Develop your own answers to the questions
Work on your self confidence...Major Key
Above All Pray and Trust God...Tho I wanted the VO that interviewed me while on the queue but deep inside I was telling myself that whoever it is that will interview me...I am going home with an approval.

All the best guys....#TEAMFALL17
