Did you and your folks not rejoice on this thread that Yoruba felt marginalized and even encouraged GEJ to do it the more?

Did your folks not celebrate Nigeria here with some even talking of pushing Yoruba out of the Union so that we won't partake of the 'goodies of 1 naijeria' with you and the north? Did Afam not denigrate Yoruba for pushing for the same regionalism your kith and kin are being shot over today?

Did any single one of your folks on this thread remember Biafra in all their gloating at 'Yoruba misfortune'?

‘Yoruba marginalised by Jonathan administration’

Posted By: Bisi Oladele On: February 7, 2013

Nation

A Yoruba group, the Yoruba Unity Forum (YUF), has decried the alleged neglect of the Southwest by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Urging the President not to see it as another baseless cry, it reeled out data to support its claim.

Chief Olu Falae, Bishop Bolanle Gbonigi, Senator Femi Okunrohunmu, Dr. Kunle Olajide and Senator Tony Adefuye spoke with reporters at the Premier Hotel in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, yesterday.

They said no Yoruba person occupies any of the top 12 political offices in Nigeria.

The positions are the president; vice president; Senate president; House of Representatives’ speaker; chief judge of the federation; deputy senate president; deputy speaker, House of Representatives; acting president of the Court of Appeal; secretary to the government of the federation; chief of staff to the president; national security adviser and the head of service of the federation.

They said Jonathan should have appointed, at least, one Yoruba person of his choice into one of the positions to reflect the federal character.

YUF said only three of the 36 principal economic and financial agencies, including key ministries, departments and agencies, are headed by Yoruba persons.

In the Judiciary and anti-corruption sectors, they said none of the 11 agencies is headed by a Yoruba person. The positions/agencies include: the Chief Justice of the Federation; Judicial Service Commission; National Judicial Council; Code of Conduct Bureau; Attorney-General of the Federation; the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

YUF said the Yoruba head only two of the 17 education management agencies; one of the 10 security agencies; one of the four bureaucracy agencies; none out of three government broadcasting agencies and none of the three election management-related agencies.

It said the Yoruba occupy few federal positions in spite of the fact that they account for about 22 per cent of the country’s population.

The group alleged “ethnic cleansing and discriminatory acts” against the Yoruba in agencies and ministries.

For instance, they alleged that the pioneer Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Accident Investigation Bureau, Dr. Samuel Oduselu, was unjustly relieved of his appointment in 2011 despite his great achievements in the agency.

It also alleged that the Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah, sacked eight general managers at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) last year, six of whom were Yoruba.

The Yoruba elders said shortly after, the minister employed 75 workers, 40 of whom were from the Southeast, her geo-political zone.

They said the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), another agency under the minister, has recruited about 107 workers since last August, with 68 per cent hailing from the Southeast, according to the report of a news magazine.

YUF said the minister sacked the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Captain Adebayo Araba and replaced him with Captain Chinyere Kalu from the Southeast.

Besides the sack of the former Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, Mrs. Ola Onagoruwa, for “undisclosed reasons”, the Yoruba elders condemned the recent recruitment in the Nigeria Customs Service, alleging that only 45 cadets were recruited from the Southwest as against 68 from the Southeast and 91 from the South south.

They said they had made fruitless efforts to discuss the issue with the President privately in the last two years before bringing it to the public.

The Yoruba elders urged Jonathan to correct the imbalance, saying: “Jonathan is not just the president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or those who voted for him, but the president of all Nigerians. At any rate, the Yoruba voted for him.

“Perhaps we should remind him that when a Yoruba man, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, was president, he led as a detribalised Nigerian, even refusing to identify with the Yoruba and frequently short changing them.

“We implore Mr. President to rise up to the demands of his office and rule as the president of all Nigerians, including the Yoruba.

Buhari today has a cult followership in the north. God forbid buhari should die today, there will be celebrations in the south east and igbos will use the cyber space to mock the northerners.

Zik did know about the Coup thats why he stayed away from Nigeria. Emmanuel Ifeajuna was his first cousin and he told him to stay away till the coup was carried out. Otherwise, how do you explain the fact that the Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting was happening for the FIRST TIME IN AFRICA & NEWLY INDEPENDENT NIGERIA BUT THE PRESIDENT WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND?!?!?.

Ifeajuna wasn't Zik cousin, he was his townsman.
You have no evidence of Ifeajuna telling Zik anything, that hallucination only exists in your head.

Everyone knew a coup was coming, everyone from the top to lowest rank of the government knew it, the rumour was everywhere, but no one knew who is going to execute the coup or when.
Perhaps, Zik was more conscious, alert and careful than others.

I can as well claim that Awolowo it was who used Fajuyi his fellow Yoruba man, to groom Nzeogwu and co for the coup and elimination of his arch political rivals. grin
Of course, like you, I wouldn't have facts to back it up, but if I repeat it long enough like Yorubas had done theirs using the Lagos-Ibadan print media over years, it starts taking the semblance of the truth. grin

Theres seriously something mentally wrong with you. You need to go get your brain checked out.

another lying sack of shiit..

according to the link he posted
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as primitive comments by former Aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode on last Thursday’s crash of an Associated Airlines flight in Lagos.

A statement by the PDP’s deputy national publicity secretary, Barrister Abdullahi Jalo, said the party stands firmly on its exhortation to the aviation authorities that the plane mishap should not constitute a set-back to the progress in the sector.
The statement said in a space of six months that he was minister, Fani-Kayode “posted an enviable record in tribalism and nepotism when he employed a record 45 managers for different parastatals under the aviation ministry from his native Osun State and went further to retire many officers of the director cadre, replacing them with incompetent cronies.”
The PDP alleged that the Senate in 2009 indicted Fani-Kayode and recommended him for trial for alleged misappropriation of N19.5 billion belonging to the aviation sector.
But Fani-Kayode, in a swift reaction yesterday, said he was not indicted by the Senate aviation committee, but that it was his predecessor in office who was indicted on the N6.5 billion Aviation Intervention Fund.
He said the suggestion that he appointed 45 people from Osun State into the aviation parastatals was not true, explaining that “It is those that are in aviation today that are purging the place of yorubas and putting their own people there.”
He advised the PDP to concentrate on trying to get the minister of aviation to save lives rather than spend time “spreading childish and fanciful tales about me.”
Fani-Kayode called on the New PDP to join forces with the APC to “flush the old PDP and this government down the toilet in 2015.

fani kayode instantly denied the allegation in which pdp didn't bring proof by listing the names of the so called osun people fani kayode employed.

he also pointed out that " “It is those that are in aviation today that are purging the place of yorubas and putting their own people there.”

he was talking about stella.

The whole aviation ministry was crawling with Yorubas, with blatant disregard to the federal character principle, the only way Stella could correct the anomaly was sacking the Yorubas and handing them the normal quota they should have all things being equal.
Igbos were under represented in the ministry and Stella amended this by appointing qualified Igbos to fill the Normal Igbo quota, that she created by sacking excess Yorubas that took up those spaces.

Of course, it didn't seat well with Yorubas.

Their idea of a good Nigeria is the one where they get lion share to the detriment of others, denying them this lion share is interpreted as marginalization.

Says the hypocrite and ignorant.
The Action Group delegation did not raise the question of Lagos again at the Lagos conference. But it did, however, demand that the right of a region to secede from the Federation be provided in the constitution. But the conference, clearly influenced by Dr Azikiwe’s scholarly exposition on the dangers of secession which received the strong backing of the Chairman, the Colonial Secretary objected that any secession clause should be written into amended constitution.

At the conference that led up to the 1954 constitution, Awolowo called for the inclusion of a secessionist clause in the new constitution. Any region that wanted could leave the union. But the proposal failed because the three regions were not united on the issue. While Ahmadu Bello of the North supported it, Nnamdi Azikiwe of the East disagreed. In retrospect, id Azikiwe, the pan-Nigerian, make a big mistake?

This was Zik in his own voice:

NN: Before I begin to ask you questions on your manifesto, I want to touch on one more thing. In both his network and West German television interview, the Head of State [General Olusegun Obasanjo] condemned all old politicians. He said the old politicians are responsible for our ills. Do you agree?

ZIK: With respect, I don’t. I feel that his speech writers or whoever is responsible for the final draft of his speech, misconceived the whole idea by generalizing. If he has said that many politicians, or some politicians he would be correct but he made a sweeping generalization. I don’t feel I am a saint or perfect, but if you study my history in the last 30 years of this country’s political development, you will find that most of the things I stood for, which my opponents opposed are the basis of what the present Federal Military Government has endorsed, and which is the basis of the new constitution.

Now, how can you turn round now to say that all of us are responsible? Let me give you examples. In 1945, the Richard’s Constitution was promulgated. I opposed the division of Nigeria into three parts. I felt that regionalism was not in the interest of Nigeria and that it would lead to provincialism and parochialism. It means that we began to think in terms of our region and not of one Nigeria.

Then, I coined the concept of one Nigeria and the slogan ‘One Nigeria’. But is that not what we fought for in the civil war and is it not the basis of our new constitution?

Well, if in 1945 my contemporaries felt that I was wrong and in 1949 conference at Ibadan, this Richard’s Constitution was endorsed and my party submitted a minority report which was brushed aside and 30 years later, the concept is found to be correct, don’t you think it is unfair to judge those of us who fought 30 years ago for one Nigeria with those who oppose One Nigeria?

NN: If I may take you on. The principle of what you supported is being vindicated alright. But what actually happened in practice? People say that NCNC was vehemently opposed to the creation of what are now the Cross River and Rivers States. In other words there seems to be a contradiction between principles and practice.

ZIK: That was propaganda. It is wrong. The NCNC supported the creation of Calabar States, Ogoja State and Rivers State but not to lump the three together, because if you do that you will have permanent minorities. Again on the question of secession. In 1953 the NPC under the leadership of my good friend, the late Sardauna, threatened to secede from the federation unless their 6-point proposals were adhered to. I had to use personal diplomacy. We had been personal friends since 1940. So, I saw Sir Ahmadu Bello and prevailed upon him that the unity of this country was greater than himself and myself and the other people too helped so that the North shifted grounds and agreed and so the country was saved. That was in 1953.

Again, however, when the 1954 constitution conference started, my good friend, Chief Obafemi Awolowo tabled a motion to the effect that in the new constitution, provision should be made that any state which feels like seceding should do so. I was opposed to it and said ‘no’ and said that once we have a federation, we are indivisible and perpetual. That was when we began to use that expression - ‘The Indivisibility and perpetuity of the federation’ - and that to secede would amount to treason. And so, a debate ensued.

The Secretary of State then was Oliver Littleton, later Lord Chandos and he was very much interested and that was his first time in saying that the people of African descent were people actually debating at a high level. So a full day was given to Chief Awolowo to make his points. He spoke brilliantly as a lawyer. He made his points why secession should be incorporated in the constitution. He cited the case of the Soviet Union which is a federation, and that secession is written there so that any state in the Soviet Union can secede at will.
He also cited the case of Western Australia and eventually he finished his case and was applauded. We adjourned. The next day, I had to reply. I availed myself of the opportunity to, well, demolish the arguments of my friend and I cited the case of United States which based its constitution on that of the Swiss Confederation. That is Switzerland. I pointed out a case, I think, that of Texas versus White, where Mr. Salmon Chase, the Chief Justice laid down the principle - he was really an arbiter - that the union was intended to be perpetual and indivisible and that any attempt to divide the union by secession was treasonable.

The North (NPC) supported Action Group. The question was then: Should we have secession? The Colonial Office came to our rescue. You know, the usual principle of Britain - ‘divide and rule’ (laughs) but this time, it was in our favour. So, the colonial office backed us. Lord Chandos said that on the face of the arguments before him it would be suicidal to incorporate secession in our constitution and that is why we have section 86 in our constitution that if any region or state should secede, then it will be an act of treason and that was what led to this war, because Col. Ojukwu seceded and so violated the constitution.

Now, if in 1954 I, as a politician fought against secession and won against Chief Awolowo and others who were in favour of secession, don’t you see that the Head of State won’t be fair to me in saying that the politicians of pre-1966 were responsible for the downfall of the republic?

See the mumu talk of the greatest Igbo man and his myopic view. What happened between the time he opposed the inclusion of secession clause in the constitution, when he gave his One Nigeria speech in 1961 and when his deluded and bloodthirsty kith, kindred and kinsmen went on a kamikaze suicide mission of secession of 1966?
In addition. The 1946 Sir Arthur Richards Constitution made provisions for Regionalism. The existing regions in colonial Nigeria were granted regioinal autonomy under this constitution. Nnamdi Azikiwe and his party, NCNC, were against regionalism.

Azikiwe and twelve delegates from the NCNC went to London and obliged the Colonial Secretary, Arthur Greech Jones, to expunge the provision for Regionalism from the Richards constitution. Nnamdi Azikiwe argued in support for a unified and centralized colonial and independent Nigeria.

Thank you.

They have always had the deluded dream of being at the helms of affairs where they will continue to perpetrate their well documented nepotism.

For those just joining this thread, pls go through the thread and understand the betrayal and humiliation the yorubas suffered after we toiled to make a most exceptional ingrate in the name of "Goodluck" ebele Jonathan president and how he repaid us by marginalizing us while our brothers from the East urged him on and praised him, some daring us to go to war and be slaughtered . While some of you after reading this might become angry at the betrayal and humiliation we suffered, pls know that we endured it with uncommon patience and sent the President Jonathan back to the obscurity from which he emerged.with that went the undue advantages our brothers from the East who had been taunting us enjoyed .and So we're the enemies of the yorubas shamed and will forever be.

If Akintola told lies yet the action of Ibo soldiers vindicated Akintola, they behaved the exact way Akintola said 2yrs earlier. Selfish, self centered, greedy

There were more Ibo politicians in govt than Yoruba politicians so tell me how many of the Ibo politicians were gunned down

Nigeria had 4 regions. The premier's of the 2 non Ibo regions were killed, okpara and osadebey who were Ibo spared

The prime minister was killed, his deputy Azikwe was spared,

All the Ibo ministers were privy to the coup which was why some of them resigned from the govt 24hrs before the coup

One of those snakes called Jaja Wachukwu was even begged by Balewa not to quit and on the day of the coup while Ibo soldiers were killing other leaders. They got to Wachukwu house and told him he isn't one of their target.

Ifeajuna after killing Balewa and okotie-eboh was Hosted by Michael okpara for a job well done who facilitated his escape to Ghana

In the military hierarchy, Ironsi was spared but Maimalari Ademulegun, Sodeinde Lagerma Pam were all killed

Jaja Wachukwu? You mean the corrupt and inept one? The guy caught sleeping on duty at the UN meeting? They are most times grossly incompetent but always crying for position.

Bloody liar!!! Igbos were never under represented in the aviation ministry. Infact before jonathan became president, yoruba and igbos shared almost equal percentage. It was when jonathan became president that everywhere was flooded with igbos. You people are greedy. Just accept it like that. Assuming jonathan was not sent packing, i wonder what the aviation ministry would look like now. I know why you guys are bitter that he lost that election. You are trying to justify your greed by lying.
Bloody liar!!!

Of course, the aviation industry was crawling with Yorubas, who had dominated it since after the civil war, with Igbos out of the way.

https://www.nairaland.com/3240382/restructuring-calls-fears-igbos-yakassai

The Yorubas entrenched nepotism into that sector by making it hard for Igbos to be promoted, hence we had too many GMs of Yoruba extraction in the ministry when Stella came on board.

"But Joe Obi, Special Assistant (Media) to Oduah,
argued that the minister should be commended
rather than condemned for what she has done in
the ministry and dismisses allegations that she is
pursuing an ethnic agenda. “I think the minister
needs to be commended. There was no
lopsidedness in terms of Federal Character in the
appointments. Those within the agencies who
merited promotion but were unduly stagnated by
previous administrations have been promoted,” he
told TheNEWS.
Obi described the dissent of the unions as “the
traditional resistance to change and nothing more”.

http://businessnews.com.ng/2012/10/22/aviation-minister-stella-oduah-accused-of-favouring-igbos-in-recruitment-processes/

Stella corrected this anomaly, and of course, Yorubas who had manipulated and dominated the system were mostly affected.

Below was an old thread on this issue.https://www.nairaland.com/1081803/aviation-storm-over-ethnic-agenda/2

Any neutral would easily deduce that the Yorubas already saturated the ministry, so much as having up to 6 GM sacked and still have lots of GM remaining.
Remedying that inequality by Yorubas by Stella is what Yorubas tagged marginalization, when in truth they should be grateful for having had the lionshare to the detriment of others for decades.

Alteast he wasn't as incompetent as the self acclaimed sage whose political incompetence set his region into political turmoil, the incompetent power hungry treacherous one who failed twice at usurping the government of the day, was caught twice and finally forced into taking the coward way out by taking otapiapia poison.
