Welcome once again to Dezyns and Structures. this time we're consulted to continue the construction of 2 Units of Building. One, a 5 Bedroom duplex and the Other, 2 Units of 3 bedroom Flats.

Just realized we come highly recommended by people we have worked for, and those our clients expect us to deliver same and more once they refer us to others. As a result, we have had to pinch our selves to note that there is no room for errors, as every new one should be an improvement on the previous one.

Looking at your works, please tell me: are sliding windows outdated ?

Concerning parapets, what do you say about expanded polystyrene in terms of cost, strength, aesthetics, durability etc?

Sliding windows are not outdated. People have just evolved into properly defining the way they want to optimize the use of their windows. Now you have more options to pick from and casement seems to solve people's problems.
Note: You can still use sliding. You have to just factor in their advantages and see which you can let go for which. e.g
Sliding Windows do not allow for more air into the house like Casement because you can only open half part of the window width, unlike casement where you can open everything. But regardless of that, Casement eats up Opening space outside your house, mostly in cases where the setback from the building to the fence is small. there Casement can eat up movement space externally, where sliding can help you open your window without eating up space.

In terms of Parapet. the Polystyrene is strong, can be aesthetically pleasing, durable enough and others. but note you can be limited to certain designs like longer/wider spanning Parapet designs that some home owners will like.
