hello I have some quick questions
How big is the farm?
How many tonnes are expected in yield? (Bags)
How much will you be investing from planting to harvest?
How long does it take to harvest from time of planting?
Will you sell it when fresh or dry?

Cheers

How long does ginger take from planting to harvest? Can it be cultivated more than once in a year. After harvest are there buyers for the fresh ginger or it must be split and dried

If you need it urgently I can provide it but it depends on where you are.

The location of the seeds is Kachia LGA, Katul-crossing precisely.

Actually, ginger planting starts by march but could be extended to April or May depending on when rainfall starts.

Harvesting of ginger starts from the 7th month but the more they stay the better the harvest (quantity wise).

Ginger can only be cultivated once a year but could be harvested more than once.

Fresh or Split dried, you can always find buyers. Some even sell their ginger whilst on the farm. Split ginger is costlier than fresh ginger.

Thanks

1. farm is 1 hectare
2. we planted 6 tonnes of fresh ginger that's 100 bags of fresh ginger. and expecting at least 500 bags
3. about 1.4m and hoping to sell for like 3m but you should know that like many other agro commodity the prize of ginger is not fixed
4. 6-8 months
5. not decided whether to sell fresh or dry.

So you want to derail this wonderful thread? You've not seen similar farming projects shared by Nairalanders from other parts of the country? Kontinu.
