THE DEPUTY MINORITY LEADER OF THE FEDERAL HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, HAS OPENED UP ON THE ROWDY SESSION AND PROTEST BY LAWMAKERS MAINLY FROM THE SOUTH-EAST TODAY DURING PLENARY.

We reported earlier today that some members of the Federal House of Representatives, mainly from the South-East were involved in massive protest inside the national assembly chambers.
It was learnt that their anger is over the withdrawal of a bill seeking to create a South-East Development Commission. The house rejected the bill after it was put to a voice vote by Yakubu Dogara, the speaker.
While speaking with a journalists, the deputy minority leader of the house of representatives, Chukwuka Onyema, alleged that there was a gang up to kill the bill seeking to establish the South-East Development Commission.

Onyema, who sponsored the bill, had stormed out of the chamber, alongside some south-east lawmakers, after the bill was put aside, and also threatened to relinquish his position.

When asked if he would keep to his word and resign, the angry Onyema said: “I have not done it, wait for a formal thing,” adding that it was obvious that some lawmakers ganged up to “kill” the bill.
The lawmaker explained that the bill was mainly for developmental purposes of the south-east region, saying it had become clear that the south-east is being marginalised.

“Two things happened, it was obvious that there was a gang up to kill this bill. People that are supposed to be fasting came back and shouted ‘nay’,” he said.

“We all heard it and still the presiding officer gave it to the ‘nays’. This bill does not affect anybody in any way. This is something that is for developmental purposes. Why are we killing it? And we are talking about marginalisation, that we are not marginalised? We are marginalised, it is obvious that we are being marginalised.
“By Tuesday, you will hear what you want to hear.”

that's how the three R program was abandoned after the war.

to the best of my knowledge, we still ve the northern Nigeria development commission(NNDC) which was established decades ago... so much for people who contribute nothing to the federation account. yet they wud want to kill a bill that advocate same for the SE,and u say we re one Nigeria?

SE actively supported the killing of Special Status Bill for Lagos.

They should calm down and take a chill bottle of coca cola

See what the Sons of Hatred wrote on this thread that has to with the rejection of Special Status Bill for Lagos State https://www.nairaland.com/3389862/senate-rejects-tinubus-bill-seeking

They are bunch of emotional babies and tantrum whinners.

Story for the gods.

Before Nigeria crashes, we would have taken a fair share of our entitlement. Afterwards, if you guys like you can burn down your part of the country, it will not be none of our business.

The issue is that people will tell us to hold our leaders responsible, these leaders have proposed something that will at least make sure all federal roads are built in Igboland, they(others) shouted it down.

There is no fair dealing in Nigeria, none at all.

People should be a little diplomatic . Igbos are screaming marginalization round the world , they bring bill for South east development, you kill it. You plan to borrow money for railways across the country and you exclude only South east. Any thing for south east is cancelled .. Believe it or not, you're giving the world reasons to believe the Biafran agitators stories.

You gonna need it. No state in the South-East is economically viable - they are parasites just like everybody else.

Anambra did not make a dime in 2016 grin

My question to these people that supposed to be fasting is;

1)Why did you say "No" to the development of south East?.

2) Is it your personal money that will be used for this project?.

3) Can you honestly tell me with facts what your states contributes to the project Nigeria positively more than these SE states?.

Senator Hope Uzodima from Imo State said: “If we approve a bill like this, states like Zamfara, Imo, Enugu and others will begin to ask for support and assistance. I think we should look at the assets in Lagos State and see how the Federal Government can assist Lagos state to augment what it is doing.”

Let the south east also look for how the federal government can assist it as advised by an ibo Senator.

Nnamdi Kanu has being proven right again that Nigeria is not the best country for us

Very soon, the SE senators will propose a referendum bill to decide the fate of all oppressed SS/SE tribes who seek Biafra

By then, I will observe the reaction of unity beggars on this platform to the proposed referendum bill to decide the fate of all Biafrans

It is God that has spurred up the leaders to proposed that bill which is one of the final straws to open their eyes to the hopelessness of One Nigeria

What assets do South east have? How many good federal roads, since the war ended how many concrete projects have been carried to rehabilitate the south east. I think the truth is that deep down the mind of this politicians they don't want anything good for any other region, that isn't the north. But it's fine election is by the corner the nepotistic children of Usman Dan fodio must not be annoyed.

All the SE/SS senators should walk out of the senate for weeks and visit Donald Trump, other world leaders, International agencies and news media to explain this evil to the world

If this is done, the rest of the world will intervene concerning Biafra as an alternative since it is clear that they don't want progress in the SE/SS

My advice is for the senators of SE/SS to abandoned the chambers and do all those things listed above

Maybe they're now tired of developing Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, and the rest of the world for others...

and now want to develop the South East...
