You haven't even graduated yet. @OP, a university degree is only useful to get you shortlisted. In the world nobody can tell what you're capable of at first sight, and nobody has the time and resources to check through what millions of people claim to be capable of. Having a degree just gets you on the list. Then you have to prove yourself. . .so basically what I'm saying is that you shouldn't rely on your education on campus alone. It won't hurt to go out of your way to pick up different certifications here and there and keep learning new skills that'll make you an asset to anyone that needs your services.

I understand Op quite well. personally I can relate to what he is trying to say. Back then when I was graduating, I knew the economy was quite OK for one to hit the street of Corporate Lagos Island to look for job. I could not wait. I looked forward to it. That was just back in 2007. True to God, within one month of finishing service, I had offer from Chevron, 6 Banks, wrote KPMC test and had offer from my department to stay back and lecture. But today I just look at the young ones coming through our universities, no opportunity, no prospect and all that. The political elite class has messed up the economy. You are right to feel that way. My brother, like I did for my younger one who is at Lead City, get your Parents to enrol you in one skill acquisition centre. You can learn upper class interior decoration, fashion design or whatever. The idea is that you have something doing after school. Don't worry, you will be fine and you find your degree useful one day. Best of luck.
The future looks bleak to young graduates and undergraduates nowadays. But instead of sitting down and complaining bitterly about it, they should look at the positive aspect of it they can tap into. I was once like the OP. I always blamed God for making me a Nigerian.

I try to stay out of this, but a part of me wants me to respond to you because I felt exactly how you feel now and even more.

Listen, even if you have a job, you do not depend on salaries for a living, if you do that you die young or on retirement, whichever comes first.

So, you need to understand that whether you have a job or not, no one should depend on a salaried income, passive income sources which falls under the chagrins of your passion must always be by the side. And the passive income becomes major income because a job is something you either quit, be fired or you die on. So, always plan to quit and focus on passive income.

Let me break it down for you my friend;

Passive income should come from your passionate kind of business. Your degree is something parents want us to have. Our passive income come from passionate field we decide to choose. So, which do you prefer ?

I would say both, then as time goes on and you mature, you sacrifice salary for passive income and betray your sense of security. That is when you become fully the man you were designed to be.

What I am saying is this. Follow through school and NYSC but start today to design a business concept and write your business plans. You were not designed to work for anyone. Take the risk of creating a niche for yourself in the products or service industries.

Going to school doesn't mean u will be successful and rich... Education is best but you can't only rely solely on going to school for for jobs and better living. Your going to school is to discover the area of life you might perform good ... Even your talent too could be discovered y in school. It's not late don't give up when you graduate and you can't find job, hit me up . But don't keenly rely on working for someone. It pays to be self employed.

It's nothing bad to be in d university

And u being there should be another process of learning about life

And since u are regretting of not starting a biz back den, my advice is for u to let go of ur regrets and start investing time in learning a skill / trade because regrets will do u no favour than frustration n more regrets (which will result to starting nothing - NOW THAT U HAVE SOJI UR SELF _- TAKE ACTION NOW)

AND LASTLY talk to GOD. Let HIM guide u. HE will surely show u d right part.

I'm in same shoe as u. I'm currently in HND level in a Federal Polytechnic. Procrastination is my issue since I have realized that I should have start something earlier enough. N I'm defeating it. DAY BY DAY.

JUST TAKE ACTION NOW. It's never going to be easy. But u have to start something now n divorce ur regrets.

#OLuBEN wish u well.

You've not graduated yet and you are already "bitterly regretting". What will you now do when you graduate?

The thing is the attitude you apply to your education is likely the attitude you would have applied had you learnt a trade. You would have 'bitterly regretted' not going to school.

the truth be told, learning how to drive a trailer straight out of secondary school is faar more worth the while than university education in SOME cases. if the trailer driver manages to have his own trailer, its better than having a phd in SOME cases.

To be honest, I would rather spend my school fees as a Nigerian student patronising Oloshos than pay that to study rubbish.

Nigerian degrees don't have value, you can manage to finish the BSc but try obtain a Masters in a foreign University so you have an edge over others.

Education in Nigeria is currently a scam, no hope even no hopeless !

I don't think you are qualified enough to talk about job hunting problems yet.
Reason 1 : You are still in school.
Reason 2: There's is still nysc afterwards, which will give you enough time to learn new skills and attributes.
Reason 3: You have already started blaming the system instead of thinking of a solution to your potential problem.
Reason 4: Touch up on your grammer because as it is, it is not adequate for the professional environment.

This is a friendly advice. I wish you well.

You don't have to regret going to school. If you are from a rich and connected family then you can go to school with the hope of gaining a well paid job. But if you are intelligent and without connection, go to school with the view of discovering something to contribute to the society in exchange of huge financial returns . If you are very intelligent, then make a First Class, stay back in the academic society and lecture to transfer knowledge. Ignore all of the above, then you graduate to queue up for the very narrow to nonexistent chance for merit - that is if you are lucky to come back from NYSC before 26. Stay away from faith, face reality.
so people who didn't do NYSC before 26 nko??
they don't get Jobs again or wat they shld kill themselves?? pls stop sending wrong signal u hv heard he wrote jamb from 2009 to 2013 that's 4yrs then add another 4yrs that he'd spend for school........instead of u to say something better u r here say if he is lucky to come bk from NYSC and ppl who were not lucky nko they won't also queue abi? becos their degree is Worthless abi!

Many Nigerians say they are jobless ,where we have many Asians and Indians working without permit. I just pity my people because this one called leaders don sell our future. If u go to any Indian owned investment In Nigeria hardly will you see any Nigerian In a managerial position but instead they casualise us in our country.I think we need to do something about this Indians or else they would just turn us to tenants in our Father land. #Indian must go,many Nigerians are jobless.please I want this to be trending on social media platforms in Nigeria till it gets to the appropriate authority.
