If your trip is not urgent, plan for a time when the hotel prices are low. I got $50/night in January/February, and right in the middle of Manhattan (about 30th street; very close to Madison Square Garden). The room was micro, but it was sufficient.
In NY now, I would think the hotels are about $100 per night upwards. The better the hotel, the higher the price.

@Gurus: has anyone used hostels or apartments before?

You can search through family, schoolmates, friends and you might just find someone you know living in NY. In my case, it was months after I returned that I realized there is an old school mate living in NY, that I would have loved to see and he would have been happy to host me. [If you want to use such as contact, you will have to be clear about how they got to the US though. Do you know that you can use a friend studying legit in the US as a contact?]

I have read here about people that successfully used AirBnB contacts for POE, and had nice stays with their Bed & Breakfast hosts: but I can't remember whether they related using same for visa application; (and sorry, I'm too lazy to search through past posts).

Lastly, I guess you can book an hotel you can cancel/change dates later, especially if you find a cheaper deal.

If it's for the trip you can stay in New Jersey which will be a bit cheaper than NYC but take the transportation into consideration.

Im so happy. Got my us visa yestrdy at lagos with my mum.. We were nt asked fr a single document.my mum has travld to america bfr n i hvnt. Was givin the visa on a virgin passport. My advice is that fill your ds 160 correctly, have a valid and sincere reason for traveln, pray and be confident

I used airbnb for mine, I paid $115 for 4 nights in New York City, because I got free $25 referral bonus on airbnb which was applied to my trip so it reduced the price.

Pls re position so that f feels the guidance square. If doing so results in the head being position outside of the ovals, then you must select a different photos.

If i try to align my chin to fit in, my head crown appears above the larger oval line.

Ask the studio to give you a digital copy of your passport photograph and send it to your laptop and upload it directly it will work.

I am a man of integrity that is why I have risen up the ranks and achieved feats no other police officer has done. I hold my reputation in high esteem hence I have refused to allow something as little as a bribe dent the good name I have built over the years in the Force" Oh boy! The visa go sure one time!

Hi Guys,

I need some advise please. My family and I are travelling to the US in August primarily for a Family Vacation but my wife will stay back to have our second child. Visas, Hospital and Accommodation have been sorted out - OK. I am now trying to book our travel tickets but I have a concern. I have found a fairly affordable ticket on Emirates Airline but I'm a bit worried with having to transit via Dubai considering the hullabaloo about Donald Trump's Travel Ban (I Know Nigeria is not listed, neither is the UAE but I'm just worried about the current issues in that region i.e QATAR issues).

That said, I just need comments from anyone who has traveled recently to the US via Dubai. Your experience would really help me make this decision as choosing a different airline will increase my tickets cost by almost a million naira. Guys Epp a brother...

P.S.: My entry port to the US will be LAX, Los Angeles CA.
