You need to assess yourself here - https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/tools-and-information/tools/points-indicator-smc

The minimum score is 160 to enable you get into the expression of interest pool following which you are invited to apply .

Note that from August, some of the points awarded will change. You can read up on these changes in my earlier posts.

@bolded: I thought it is the other way round i.e. You need not to apply for NZ PR once you are an Australian PR holder

I read somewhere that NZ PR does not give one automatic right for Aussie PR. Please verify.

True. An Australian PR makes you eligible for NZ's but not the other way round.

Only NZ citizens do not need Australian PR.

Something is funny about Nigerians and travelling. If a country is not in hot demand, they will never go for its Visa. However, travelling to some countries are the lee ways of having access to the big ones.
Some 10 years ago Canada and Australia was not popular today the reverse is the case.
I see NZ getting tougher soonest.

I have to reply to this cos you are so right.

When my brother left Nigeria for Australia almost 20 years ago, my parents' friends and even some extended family members queried my dad...."why Australia?" why not America or the UK? ....end of the world is where you flung your first child to? Is Australia even in the world map? my dad told them it was his son's choice.

Like my parents would say, their only regret is not packing all of us like sardine and catapult us yearssss ago.

Fast forward to this day, family friends are looking for ways to immigrate.

Canada and Australia and NZ are one of the best countries to migrate to NOW

There are two major issues I have noticed that are not making us to see and hear many success stories from Nigeria/Nigerians.

First is the catch -22 dilemma; you need a visa to get a job but you need a job to get a visa. Most employers will likely listen to you if you have a visa but immigration may not give you the visa if you don’t have an evidence of employment. Employment which must be considered skilled.

Secondly, a requirement immigration will look into is work experience. Work experience from Nigeria labour market is not considered comparable to the New Zealand labour market (except in certain circumstances -ops manual SM11.10.1)

A Nigerian who studied/worked in the UK, Canada, USA etc is more likely to get work/visa to New Zealand than a Nigerian who has studied/worked the whole time in Nigeria even with years of experience.

An older friend of mine seeks an advise from me which I am pushing to the gurus on this forum.

He is 58 years old and an entrepreneur. He is interested in emigrating to NZ with his family of 4 children and ready to buy an average apartment and inject $59,000 into NZ economy by establishing a venture therein which his family will be oversees. He will in a short while returns to Nigeria to carry on with his business. Meanwhile he will be visiting his family in NZ periodically.

Please opinion and advise will be appreciated.
