Teedawg: They applied to other traditional schools too. News only reported that they got into all of the ivy leagues. Some even rejected all of the ivy league admissions for the traditional school. |

Hello. I am a silent reader of this thread and I really learned a lot here. Praise be to Allah my application was approved last week Friday and was issued Yesterday. I was really drilled for about 7-9 minutes. First of all, I have previously been refused a B1/B2 visa in 2014. Then time I was a first year student at the University and I clearly indicated it on the form that I am a University student and also during the interview the Consular officer asked for what am doing and I said I am a student. She asked of the school and course of study. I spent two years at the University and dropped out for other reasons. So I applied to four schools in the US . Kalamazoo College, bates College, Northeastern University and Umaine. I was offered a good scholarship by Kalamazoo College and also Northeastern University. But i ended up using Kalamazoo i-20. I was really scared of being refused because I was thinking what if the consular officer asks why I didn't finish school here, my answer will not be that convincing. So I nearly pulled out from applying for the visa but my friend Chapecoense encouraged me. I really prayed that the VO shouldn't ask me any questions on why I didn't finish school here. Please this what transpired between the officer and I. This isn't the sequence of how the questions were asked and I really can't remember some but I know I spent about 7 minutes with her. ME- Good morning VO- Good morning ME- How you doing? VO- fine thanks ME- My pleasure VO- please let me have your 1-20 and passport. ME- Sure. VO- The first question she asked was You have a bachelor degree why are you also going for another one. I guess she saw my previous transcripts in 2014. ME- please madam I don't have a bachelors degree. I should be completing this year but I had a family emergency which made me put my money educational plans on hold. I explained the emergency. VO- how did you hear about this school? ME- I made an intensive search online using academic websites such as usnews, Princeton reviews and petersons.com and then I narrowed down my search based on schools that offer experiential learning afterwards I consulted my selected schools website to gain information about their admissions process. VO- why did you choose Kalamazoo College? ME- I chose Kalamazoo College because they offer experiential learning programs which integrates classroom experience into real life. They provide hands on learning components through excellent internships programs and summer study abroad programs. I believe this will help me learn from experts in my field and also widen my employability skills. Also aside all the schools that accepted me Kalamazoo College offered me the most financial aid package. VO- how many schools did you consider? ME- four. I named them. VO- why did you choose Kalamazoo College over Northeastern University. ME- I chose Kalamazoo College college because they offer experiential and she cuts in VO- Northeastern do offer experiential learning programs so tell me why you choose Kalamazoo over Northeastern ME- I paused for like three seconds. ME- I prefer to study at a liberal arts college because of small teacher - student ratio which allows for better interaction between faculty and teachers. She cuts in again VO- Northeastern University is a liberal arts College. Me- Please madam Northeastern University is not a liberal arts college. It's a research University offering masters and doctorate programs. VO- you're yet to convince me why Kalamazoo College over Northeastern University. Me- At this stage I didn't know what to say. Looking at each other. I choose Kalamazoo over Northeastern University because I understand the cost of living in Boston is higher as compared to Michigan and I currently have an intimate friend studying at Kalamazoo. VO- Thanks for telling me the truth. VO- Have you taken the SAT. ME- No. I have taken College level courses so the school exempted me from submitting it. VO- can I see your College transcripts. Me- please I don't have it here. VO- let me have your waec. Me- passed. She scrutinized it and checked its authenticity. Afterward she said good grades. VO- how do you intend paying your fees? ME- the school has offered me a scholarship but my father will foot the remaining bills. My father deals in the sale of building and construction materials and he also invests in agriculture products. VO- can I see his account statement Me- sure. Pass it VO- Have your father traveled before? Me- yes. China and turkey. VO- what does your mother does. ME- she operates a super market. VO- do you have siblings? Me- yes. A brother and sister VO- what do they do Me- my brother is a lab technician and sister a student. VO- have you traveled before Me- yes. Togo to visit my family. VO - she began to type for some minutes. Me- I realized she didn't ask me any question regarding my program of study. Me- I asked her please can I say something VO- yeah. Me- This robust combination of international business trade and commerce courses will equip me required skills.she didn't let me finished and cut in VO- she smiled. I have just approved your visa application. Take this I-20 you will be needing it the port of entry Me- thanks madam have a great day VO- you too. NB- This happened in ACCRA. Am a Ghanaian and I have really learned a lot here. Lagosismyhome thanks so much for your time here. Please keep answering peoples questions here. Thanks everyone. Nigerians and Ghanaians we share many things in common 4 Likes |

yemiosinbajo:yea of course they'll apply to other traditional schools what if the get rejected in all we are talking ivy schools here so minus the ivy schools how many traditional school did they apply 20? 10? 8? 6? 5? I can even tell you that they didn't have to apply to those traditional schools because they may as well have been getting offers from most of them. look at that guy that said 10 schools up there be later came back to consider the expenses transcripts, Evaluations, shipping and all that com'n that's not realistic let's be honest regardless of what ever his life experience may have been. he can apply to them at different intervals if he gets rejected but all at once |

OluDare01: Thank you so so much. Please I will like to ask, since I'm filtering chemistry courses alone in my first degree. Will the overall GPA be 5 as obtained in all my courses?. Or will it be the overall of the chemistry courses only?. Also, please what scores should I target in my GRE and toefl?. I will also appreciate if I can get study materials for Gre and toefl. Once again, thanks for saving me from agent who wanted to charge me 400k |

Just like you, my school doesn't hand out transcripts to individuals. So I had mine sent to an organization via email, the recipient then forwarded it to me and that's what I used for my applications. I don't think it makes sense to pay each time for a transcript, especially when you can use an unofficial one to apply. Cheers. temi4fash: 1 Like 1 Share |
