Gurus in the house, Greetings. Am a newbie here:

Kindly look into my profile and help with suggestions. I want to know whether it will be wise to proceed or not.

Undergraduate: LL.B (Uni of Ibadan)- I don't want to use it

Graduate: MBA (OAU)- I will prefer to assess this

Professional Qualif:
ICAN (ACA)- I intend to put this forward for assessment too.

Work Experience: 8 years (Financial services- credit, audit)

Age: 34

IELTS: Overall 7.0 (hopeful for an 8 though)

NB: I wish to apply for 189 visa (if I meet 60 points) or take nomination from state nomination for ACCOUNTANT

ENQUIRY:
(1) Can I put my MBA and ICAN up for assessment to serve as qualifications, as these are the qualifications that is in sync with the job roles that I have done in the last 8 years, not my Law degree)

(2) If I don't make the 189 visa directly, whats the strategy in applying for the state nomination to help the situation. Is the state application done concurrently with the 189 visa application or one after the other?

Your advice will be greatly valued and appreciated...

Help a bro out here...Thank you.

Hi everyone, this forum has been so helpful to me. I submitted my documents for assessment to EA early this month. Yesterday, I got a mail saying i should respond by 21st July so I checked my EA profile, my assessor said that from the documents I presented, I might be assessed as engineering technologist. That this is for my information.

Please house has anyone encountered this problem and what other documents should I provide. Please any suggestions at all coz right now I am confused.

Help a bro out here...Thank you.

First step is to get your qualifications and skills assessed. The assessing bodies for Accountants are CPA Australia, CA Australia and New Zealand and IPA Australia. There are about nine competency areas for accountants/auditor/tax/finance manager occupation that all these bodies measure. If you meet about seven your assessment would likely be successful. This means in actual fact that you don't necessarily need a degree in Accounting to get a favourable assessment as an Accountant. Depending on your MBA specialisation, you should do just fine.

To be double sure, I recommend strongly you contact all the assessing bodies by mail and present your case to be sure your MBA and ACA certificates can be assessed in lieu of a degree in Accounting. IPAA has a great online chat service.

Note. You need to get the syllabus for the MBA, ICAN transcript and syllabus for the year you qualified.

@Nwobosi
From what you stated, I don't think there is any requested document. It looks like the assessor is only notifying you of the potential assessment outcome, based on his application. What was your nominated occupation? Check the assessor's reply for any other added information.

yes, I checked the added information and that's what I stated before " that from the depth and quality of the overall submission, I may be access as chemical engineering technologist.

What school did you graduate in? Your course should be accredited....
What's the duration of the course? 5yrs preferred for Prof Engr in NG...

It's a bit hard to advise on this as the assessor didn't say anything as to why they came to that conclusion rather than the vague feedback.
I've read about a similar case but on that occasion, the assessor advised the applicant to submit one more Career Episodes that clearly demonstrates the competencies of a Chem Engr.

It's quite unfortunate that these days you have just one opportunity to respond. So, you need to go through the content of the mail and any attachment to be sure that you haven't missed out any requested information. If that's the case, then I'd advise you reply the assessor asking for clarifications on what steps to take to change the outcome. Usually, you should have the opportunity to submit additional documents or write another Career episode(s). Your case seems unique.

Finally, since you've been a follower of this thread, I hope you took advantage of the many Chemical Engineer CDRs available here to ensure that you completely demonstrated and outlined your Chem Engr competencies in your CE and Professional Engr Summary. Making reference to those would help you avoid situations such as this. Also, having someone critique your work has proven to be helpful.

Don't be too worried, try to respond asap otherwise a decision might be made on the outcome of your application.
Best Wishes,

Nwobosi:

@catchdwind4rmkd,
thanks so much for your time.

This is the exact comments from my assessor

"Based on your qualifications and career episodes, it is obvious that you have a top-surface understanding of engineering principles however, you are lacking to present a professional engineering role. It is not sufficient to describe the studies undertaken at the university or commercial work undertaken by a group in which you were involved. The career episode must demonstrate how you have applied your engineering knowledge and skills and should emphasize any engineering problems identified and any particular problem solving techniques used by you"

My course is five years and it's B.Eng chemical engineering. I'm thinking of rewriting my career episode on my industrial training.

I have not been available...

A lot of demanding issues...

I was preparing for the first semester examination starting on Tuesday and also had deadlines to meet with assignments and other
assessments.I pray that God will see you through in your exams.

In the midst of it, I received bad news about my elder brother who is in the hospital diagnosed of acute kidney disease. I join prayers with other members of this lovely family to intercede on your brothers behalf to God that he recover very quickly.

The left kidney is completely bad, the right is very weak. He is on a run of dialysis. At the end of the session, we will know if he needs a transplant or if the right one can be salvaged...

I cover your prayers for him.. Hopefully, it doesn't get to a transplant stage. The cost cannot be sustained alone..

I have been extremely halped in my PR journey so far from the members of this e-fam. Although i have not really posted any comment yet, I pray that God grants us our good heart desire.

Thank you Mofe,

Wow!! This is deep...

1. My MBA is an MBA (Finance)

2. I earned the MBA in 2014 whilst my ICAN ACA has been since 2010. (I heard somewhere that they start counting the year for your skills from the year you earned the degree that you are presenting, so do you think the 2014 MBA wont negatively affect my points)

3. Is it true that I need ACCA (which is international) other the local ICAN, to have a favourable assessment or clinching a job offer in Aussie?

4. CPA, CA and IPA on their websites said they are closed till later, what does this mean. How do I initiate my credential assessment with these bodies...which of the accounting bodies is the best to deal with?

5.The list of 189 visa for "Accountants (General)" is filled up, will the list be refreshed by July 1? (I can't remember seeing "Auditor" on the list)

6. Where can I get the Competency Areas for Accountants you mentioned above?

Thank you.

Cc:

@TEECAN

1-4: I just started the process myself. Most of what I know was read here and on the DIBP website. That said, It is only the assessing body that can determine if what you have is comparable to Australian education or not. From what I have read, CPA, CA and IPA are more flexible than VETASSESS. Good that you don't have plans to nominate Internal auditor as an occupation. I personally have corresponded with IPA and CA before and I find IPA more forthcoming with information. It is better you know what your chances are before committing money. You should consider mailing IPA and CA on below emails:

IPA: migration@publicaccountants.org.au
CAANZ: migration@charteredaccountantsanz.com

5: The Accountant occupation (general, management, tax) and auditor occupations (Internal & external) get filled up quickly. You would need to aim for minimum of 70 -75 points to boost your chances of getting an invite and to shorten your waiting time in the pool. And yes these occupations are still on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). Only Accountant (general) is flagged. A new cycle (year) starts July 1, 2017. Check out link below:

https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/mltssl

6: All the assessing bodies list/state the competency areas/core/foundational courses on their website. Do follow link below for that of IPA:

Your reference letters should have five main job duties stated on them, should also state whether your worked full or part time. Try check if you have those details in the ones you submitted. Third party document could be any 2 of bank statement, tax return and pension account statement, try add payslips join too[/b]

a) Income Tax Statement or Tax payment revenue receipts. as highlighted above
b) Copy of Tax clearance certificate card as highlighted above

Can someone break this down for me, PLEASE ! If you have all above in place, try resubmit them and draw the attention of the assessor to the fact you had previous submitted them.[/quote]

Please gurus in the house, I have a pension statement, but only my current employer name is showed on it, though my contributions in my previous place of work is there but the name of the employer is not there. Can this document cover both employment?
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Nobody: 6:35pm On Jun 22, 2017
Please for those who used pension statement as a third party document, how did you made sure that all your employers name reflected on the document. I was at pension office today and I was told that only my current employer name will be on the statement. Please help your brother, this is the only third party evidence I can provide for my previous employment. No tax certificate, no bank statement.

Please anybody with similar experience, how did you go about?
