I remember when I was a kid, they used to say if your ear is ringing and itching,it means someone out there is gossiping about you
Hahahaha , i know that one too. I remember feeling like a celebrity whenever my ear itched lol...I thought there were people out there busy discussing me . I felt so important grin

LOL@feeling like a celebrity grin .I never really believed all these things,I always had my suspicions.Another one that was popular was the twitching left eye, they used to say if your left eye starts twitching it means a relative is going to visit, but then weeks would go by without someone visiting...that's when I started calling the bull*** on these superstitions

Lol, I know that one too Jayce and I would sleep every night hoping it was my aunt bringing my cousins over for a visit and no one ever came lol. Since I'm scared and hate cats , I still believe this one ; seeing a black cat means your trip will be fuckd grin. I see black cats everyday cos my neighbor has 3 embarassed lipsrsealed. So I'm forever having bad days grin.

LOL the only thing I use to look forward to if the visitor ever came was the nice meals,I remember my mother would go as far as spending money she really didn't have on some nice food just to impress a visitor,so having a visitor in those days was beneficial LOL grin grin

Haha, you still believe the cat one? But I really can't blame you, black cats can be scary sometimes but when I see them I make nothing out of it.I got rid of all the superstitions long time ago

LMAO. So Leo.

I grew up believing a lot of superstitions because of my mom. She was very superstitious. A few off the top of my head are:
-An itching foot means you wanna run the streets. She'd shout at me if I said my foot was itching because according to her, it meant I didn't wanna stay indoors. With this one, I think she was trying to teach me to enjoy the comforts of home, to stay out of trouble & gossip. As a result, this became nature than nurture.

-Singing or talking while eating will make your voice horrible. Basic etiquette & manners, I guess.

-Checking yourself in the mirror for too long, will make you ugly. Moral of this one, vanity is an unattractive trait.

-Letting someone jump over your head will make you short. This one is TRUE grin I was jumped so much growing up, which totally ruined my chances & my destiny of becoming a 5'10 model on the Paris runways tongue

Last but not least & my favourite. This one I still practise to this day
-Leaving your hair everywhere, will make you run mad. I think the core is about cleanliness & hygiene, rather than anything else. But anyway, I'm still more protective of my hair than Samson from the Bible. If I go to the salon, I bring a plastic bag for my "golden locks". You'd swear they were strands of gold because of how protective I am over them grin

I would believe any bad thing about cats , if you told me they are witches I would believe you grin I'm really scared of those sneaky creatures.

Here, if you sit on a mortar(used for pounding ysm) while it's raining, Sango, the god of thunder will strike you dead, grandma would say.

Once grandma is out of sight, I would try, relying on the biblical protection of "no weapons forged against me.. ." Also, collecting rain water with bare hands attracts the same same danger.

TBH, I think some of them are quite logical & not old wives' tales as we believe. Like your examples, they don't sound foolish at all, if you take a lot of things into account. Because in both scenarios, you could be hit by lightning on a bad day.

If you heat your left leg against the stone on your way to an event, just turn back, it is bad luck.

If someone came and buy credit from you as you are just opening store, forget that day, every other person's who visit your store have one credit story or another, this one is real.

LMAO. Go you!

The spam thing banned me yesterday, so I decided to have a productive day for once tongue Yeah, everything is back to normal now. It was just maintenance. They still have huge, black pipes out though, which probably means, they're not done yet. Ugh!

The funny thing is, the pipes are scaring small children because they look like snakes. My neighbour's son yesterday was standing by the gate in awe. He excitedly told me about the " dead anaconda" outside. He said maybe the municipality workers found it in the hole & killed it. I lol'ed. Kids & active imaginations

The reason they didn't do it everyday was because money was scarce, tho they did not mind spending their last penny as soon as a visitor showed up at the door.

When it comes to cats, well I guess I just hate the way they stare but as far as those superstitious theories about cats go,I don't know.they are just weird animals.pardon me,but I hate a chameleon more than I hate cats,I hate the way it moves so slow,I hate that disgusting long tongue, and plus it can also camouflage with it's surroundings.what kind of a creature is that one huh

Aren't there also superstitions about chameleons?

Hahahaha , i think kids are psychotic people we just don't know it yet lol. A few weekends back my nephew and his mom visited me and he wanted to go pee so I took him to the toilet and he's like , "you see my thing is growing and when I'm older I want it to be bigger and scary like my dad's," illustrating the dad's size with his hands grin grin .

As for the Xhosa dudes and ego , even the ones with smaller pricks think they are shyt lol. I've always had a thing for tswana men tongue I find them attractive and fun .

LMFAO. Was it the biggest thing you ever saw or what? No, I have not dated other tribes, except for Xhosa & Tswana. Both were pretty well-packaged, I must say wink Xhosa guys are egotistical, sex maniacs indeed. My ex would keep you up all night, as if you were on night shift grin Most Venda guys, no offence, but they're a bit on the ugly side for me lol. I can't go from our pretty boys to that, sorry tongue My cousin dated one for 10 years though, so perhaps it's true. I never asked. Have you ever dated outside your tribe?

Btw, now I'm reminded of something else. Growing up, my friend's house had a shack at the back of the house which they rented to this couple that drank a lot. The guy was called Bigboy. So anyway, on weekends they'd come home drunk as usual. We played at the back too, so we'd hear them having sex in their shack. She used to say, "Nditye Bigboy, nditye nyana kaNomademfu", which was followed by her humming those words in pleasure. LMFAO. It was so hilarious.

Lol, yes it was the biggest I've ever seen grin and it kinda looked abnormal to me. I've also only dated Xhosa and tswana , but I've gone to dates with Zulus ( I hated the stereotypes they had of us embarassed, so i couldn't go further) . Ndebelele and swati ( I don't think they can handle Xhosa women to be honest , they are always calm and sound too soft, not my cup of tea I like them psycho like my brothers grin) . I went out to with a venda he was so smart I loved it but I just couldn't not look beyond the ugliness grin and he was too cultural and the food he ate was a big no no for me. The guy was so fugly I could not forgive him grin. I've noticed that Xhosa and tswana guys look and behave alike , maybe that's why I tend to be attracted to them tongue. Lol@ being sex maniacs....I think they do that to satisfy their egos and make sure you never forget it lollll.

O.m.g I couldn't stop laughing at the bolded grin. Was he unyana ka nomademfu ke ? grin he must have been a really Bigboy

LMFAO. You know what? I feel exactly the same about Ndebele & Swazi guys. Like I'd run circles around them & they wouldn't do jacket shit about it. They come across too sweet like you say. No va va voom. I agree on the rest as well, but the Tswana don't have the annoying big ego of Xhosa guys. Otherwise, they're very similar.

Bigboy's mother's name was Nomademfu lol.
