This your question caught my attention. Offences weigh differently. Some can be overlooked while some must be corrected. It would be sadonic for a guy or lady to continue with the same offence and expect forgiveness at every time. A time will come that "I am sorry" will become nauseating. For every "I am sorry" there must be a corresponding and lasting behavioral change.

OP, you're right about the forgiveness thing...but there is a limit to what people can forgive, or how long they can keep forgiving. Liken a marriage to an 80leaves exercise book, every time you keep hurting your partner...one leave goes off. At a point, the book becomes weak, you really don't like the book anymore, but you have written so much in it, you can't throw it away. It's bad to keep doing same offence over and over, you weaken the very essence of a marriage.

When its come to relationship it is better u advice or contribute to it by not being one sided or keep quiet.
