I actually read the statement credited to one certain Nnamdi KANU where he proclaimed Bayelsa state as Biafran territory.

As usual, I welcomed it as a form of humour but going through the Official Page of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, the people were unanimous on Ijaw youths position on Biafra.

Like I always say, Ijaw was not, is not, cannot and will never be part of Biafra.

Irrespective, Ijaw nation will ALWAYS show solidarity and support to whoever seek to exercise the right to determine their destiny.

MEANWHILE, OFFICIAL POSITION OF IYC

“The attention of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide has been drawn to a statement credited to one MASSOB leader, Solomon Chukwu published in the
Vanguard and other newspapers of Tuesday June 6, 2017 declaring that the south-south region is included in the territory of Biafra which MASSOB, IPOB and other self-determination movements are agitating for. This comment has been made by other Biafra leaders in different forums. For the records, the IYC wishes to state as follows:

1. That the Ijaw and Niger Delta people identifies with the Biafra struggle for self-determination.

2. However, we wish to state clearly that the Ijaw and Niger Delta struggle for self-determination predates the Biafra agitations. It is on record that even before the Biafra declaration of independence in 1967, Major Jasper Adaka Boro during the twelve days revolution declared a Niger- Delta Republic in 1966. This was before the advent and struggle for the actualization of Biafra.

3. The Ijaw and Niger Delta people had always maintained separate and distinct identity from our Igbo brothers of the South East.

4. While we share in the Biafra agitation for self-determination which is not in any way different from our agitation; we wish to clearly state that the Ijaw areas are not part and parcel of the territory of Biafra.

5. We will collaborate with our south eastern, middle belt and any other minority groups in the quest for self-determination based on mutual respect and common understanding. In the coming days, we will start the constructive engagement on these terms”, the statement was quoted as saying.

I wonder what KANU was smoking while calling Ijaw hero toothless?

Obviously, the battle for Biafra is already dwindling as Ijaws are unanimously against it

Oga everyone is entitled to his own opinion. Some Ijaws say they are not part while some like Asari say they are Biafrans. Some Igbos want the Ijaws as part of Biafra while some like myself want Biafra to be a homogeneous Igbo nation.

Each to his own opinion.

Go to Kalabari and say that.

Good thing that it's taking Igbo agitation to reset Nigeria. Something the Yorubas couldn't achieve with June 12 agitation nor the Ijaws with militancy.

You can hate Nnamdi Kanu's method but anybody who wants to be honest to himself will acknowledge that it's yielding result like no other before it.

You stand to achieve nothing with this thread. Biafra is a name that was coined by leaders of the provinces of old eastern region and declared independent by its leader Ojukwu. The earlier you and the rest like you cease to see yourselves as second fiddle to your igbo brothers the better for you all. I am yet to understand this low level of thinking from even the supposed educated.

That Egbe Emi of a lady should know that Mba Mmiri is not a derogatory term though. It actually connotes the same thing as "Riverrine Area" or "Niger Delta". In fact, the average igbo person from Enugu considers igbo riverrine areas like Ogbaru and Oguta as Mba Mmiri. All you would have done is ask for the meaning. But an ibgophobic person would rather assume the worst about the igbos than deal with facts.

I dont know why people are worried. There are people who believe in Biafra in Igbo land and people who dont.
There are people who are Hausas that dont support Buhari and did not vote for him.
There Yorubas who do not support Tinubu and his ideolgy
There Ijaws who support and can die for biafra

Nothing to worry about. That is why we have divergent opinions about issues.
Minority will have their say,
While majority will have their way.

That one group of people says they are not part of Biafra does not mean the speak the mind of the ijaw people
