If I may ask, Who does Ijaws plan to have a Niger Delta Republic with?

In 1966 Major Jasper Boro declared Ijaw ONLY Niger Delta Republic. A declaration that enjoyed popular support among Ijaw clans but unfortunately fell after 12 days due to relative lack of military might and experience.

So, in the event of a Nigeria split, we have two options:

1. Ijaw Republic

2. Niger Delta Republic.

The latter will ONLY be if the SS ethnic nationalities endorse a distinct State for the group.

If no agreement of such, we move with the former.

The Ijaws has always stood for themselves and are never known for unity begging.

@Tonyebarcanista, you clearly affirmed that Ijaws are not satisfied with the Nigerian system and want out of Nigeria. Adaka Boro attempted it and failed.

Igbos wanted out also, attempted and failed in a bloody civil war.

Ogonis tried too and it lead to the death of Ken Saro-Wike.

The dissatisfaction with Nigeria is pronounced and clearly no ethnicity can leave Nigeria easily on its own. So a coming together of ethnicities/tribes as one huge block is what is needed to leave this contraption.

First we need to sit together and thrash out holistically what we want. If it's to continue as one country after we exit Nigeria or we split and form as many countries possible with like-minded ethnicities.

No one is saying Ijaws must be with IGBO in a country. Or Ogonis must be with Ijaws or Ikwerres with Ijaws in the same country. All I'm saying is we work together to leave Nigeria and then everyone sorts himself out.

Unity BEGGER, the IJaws said they are not interested in your Biafran sh**t. Is that too hard to understand?

If Tonye were half as proactively strategic as he has been passionate, he would have been a beacon of light to the youths in Nigeria politics. But I'm afraid, the dude still has a long learning to do. Unfortunately, he repeats the same mistakes in circles.

HopeAtHand:

@Tonyebarcanista, take this write-up and think it through.

There are no permanent enemies or friends anywhere, only interests. Nigeria is fundamentally fvcked up, the fault lines are growing bigger and sooner Nigeria will have its date with destiny. Making alliances for the future is what you ought to canvass and not displaying proof of hate of Igbos or any southern tribe in particular.

Northerners will most likely not relinquish this system that fantastically favors them for something less appealing, and this wil lead us to the point where a united stand as people of the SE and SS will together seek our way out. The SE needs us, we also need them. The issue is to encourage them(IPOB, Massob etc) to come for a robust dialogue where every topic is discussed to its finest detail.

Once we achieve an exit from Nigeria, ethnicities can form whatever republics with whichever tribes they want. But we must unite and push an exit from Nigeria.

lol@ unity beggar. I didn't say I wanted a country with Ijaws. I only said the bigger the push, the stronger. If southerners jointly want out of Nigeria, It is easier achieved, than a single ethnicity wanting out.

When we leave Nigeria as a block, everyone can answer their papa name.

Ijaw waiting for Nigeria to split before they head sovereign?

Such opportunistic methodologies will only make neighbour-countries think less of you.

Moreover, how will that cure their self-induced inferiority complex?

All the same, goodluck to people's futuristic impromptu self-assertions.

I am arguing on how to split the country and you are hoping that the country may split. What do you think is achieved by hoping. You don't like the system yet you are hoping. If you don't like something you seek ways to put a stop to it, you don't hope. OK for how long are you going to hope?

I'm not saying I particularly like the IGBO or Ijaws or whatever, but working together to achieve a breakup is in my best interest, as my interest is a constant. na wah.

I actually read the statement credited to one certain Nnamdi KANU where he proclaimed Bayelsa state as Biafran territory.

As usual, I welcomed it as a form of humour but going through the Official Page of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, the people were unanimous on Ijaw youths position on Biafra.

Like I always say, Ijaw was not, is not, cannot and will never be part of Biafra.

Irrespective, Ijaw nation will ALWAYS show solidarity and support to whoever seek to exercise the right to determine their destiny.

U PEOPLE ARE THE ONES DELAYING A VERY STRIAGHT FORWARD TRANSITION.

BECOS OF U, BIAFRA IS POSTPONED, SOON IGBO WILL IGNORE U LOT AND NEVER LOOK BACK.

THINK CRITICALLY ABOUT UR ACTIONS AND THE CONSEQUENCES.

THE NORTH IS AS RICH AS THE SOUTH, GEJ ONES SAID THAT, YET THE RESOURCES OF THE SOUTH IS PLUNDERED BY THE NORTH.

POWER BELONGS TO THE NORTH.

BIAFRA IS ALL ABOUT GIVING PEOPLE THE RESOURCES ON THEIR LAND. WE DONT WANT ANYTHING FROM U, WE ALREADY HAVE OURS.

FURTHER NOTE THAT IGBOID GROUPS U SHARE RIVERS WITH WILL NOT BE PART OF NIGERDELTA.

ONLY UR KALABARI ISLANDS U CAN TAKE WITH U.

U REALLY NEED TO SIT DOWN AND WEIGH UP THINGS FROM ALL ANGLE AND CONSEQUENCES.

NIGERIA HURTS U SS, MORE THAN IT HURT SE.

You can't force referendum on people who are not asking for it. Only duly elected representatives of a region call mk the call for a referendum. And funny enough that is almost impossible due to the present nigeria political n constitutional settings. Historically, Ijaws NEVER opposed Biafra or any other agitation but our position is clear as to where we stand... NO TO IJAW IN BIAFRA... SIMPLE!!!

I don't think kanu can say ijaw are biafra because ijaw can't never be igbos

There's nothing similar about both tribes
Nothing even likable about the idea

So anyone looking for cheap popularity now can claim to be reacting to something said by anyone

Seriously though who would want any ijaw as Igbo ?

That's humorous at best

But the itsekiris I like alot and would gladly share a tribe with

Lol. How laughable. People like you have no plan for the Ijaw nation except for them to stay in Nigeria and be begging the North for restructuring and resource control.

You better get real. Every ethnic group in the south of Nigeria, big or small, will at some point face the same choice Ojukwu faced 50 years ago. Accept "Hausa/Fulani controlled Nigeria" or fight for your freedom.

The Ijaw nation does not have to be part of Biafra, however, lets not decieve our selves that there are any choices outside the one I mentioned. Nobody is going to hand anyone freedom on plate, IPOB already knows this.

IPOB stands for referendum of the willing, IPOB is not interested in people who are still looking for "one Nigeria"
