It really infuriates me when people say Mexicans are trying to cross the border illegally, when more than half of people crossing ARE NOT MEXICANS:

https://www.texastribune.org/2016/09/15/central-american-illegal-immigration-us-border-loo/

Most illegals crossing actually come from Central American countries like Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, and there are also many Asians and sub-saharan Africans (!) crossing as well. I have actually found lots of Hondurans, Salvadorans and even Haitians here where I live, some on their way to the border, some making money for their way back. So is VERY OFFENSIVE when people say we all are trying to cross. There are many of us who have no reasons for that.

Also, you guys really believe Mexico is worse than Nigeria? From the frying pan to the fire, really? You really don't know what Mexico is like. No, not even if you have gone to the border cities (which, by the way, are the ugliest cities in Mexico, and in some areas lack lots of basic services because of fast urban growth, so you seriously can't judge Mexico just because you've been to Tijuana).

Hello, thanks to all guru in the house, your contributions is highly useful. I have some inquiries to made about Student Visa, I notice the discussion was based on visiting visa.
Can anyone give me the list of documents required from an applicant (a Nigerian) which the school gave him full scholarship for his PhD program ? Also, in addition, what documents need to provide from spouse and two kids ?

Thanks a lot

This Can be useful for Prospective Student Applicant in Mexico.

Thank you for your interest in studying in Mexico. In order to apply for a visa, kindly request an appointment through MEXITEL, the free online appointment scheduling system of the Government of Mexico. You can reach it through the following web address:

https://mexitel.sre.gob.mx/citas.webportal/

There, you will need to set up an account and choose the most suitable time for your appointment at the Consular Section of the Embassy (it’s recommended that you use the web browser Google Chrome when booking your appointment). Once you have booked your appointment, the system will generate a confirmation letter, which you must bring with you to the Embassy on the day of your appointment. Said letter will also be emailed to the email account you provided.

We strongly recommend that you request an appointment with plenty of time in advance in order to avoid any inconveniences. Please take note that, if you wish to reschedule for a more convenient date or time, or if you miss your appointment, you will need to request a new one following the same procedure.

Once your appointment has been confirmed, you will need to fulfill the following requirements. Please note that all documents are subject to verification and have to be presented in both in original and copy:

1. Please be informed that according with new Government regulations, as of January 1st, 2017, visa applications at the Embassy of Mexico will have a non-refundable naira equivalent charge of $36.00 USD that must be deposited directly to the Embassy’s Account.
2. Present personally the visa application form (attached) dully filled and signed, since your biometric information (picture and fingerprints) is required. It is not possible to present your documents via courier or a third party.
3. Present a valid passport, with at least 6 months left before its expiry date. If you are not a Nigerian citizen, you will also need to provide evidence of your legal entry into Nigeria, or of your legal residence in the country.
4. Bring with you one (1) passport sized color picture, with the following characteristics: front face, without glasses, and a white background.
5. Original and copy of the acceptance letter from an institution belonging to the National Education System (Sistema Educativo Nacional) for the intention to do studies, courses, or projects for investigative, academic or professional purposes. The letter should specify the following information:

· Applicant´s full name and nationality.
· Level, grade or course that the applicant intents to study.
· Name of the course in which it has been accepted.
· Date of start of the course and duration of it.
· Cost of the program and
· Information about the institution and its registry within Mexico’s Ministry of Education.

6. Provide evidence of adequate economic solvency to cover the study program and living expenses during the duration of the stay:

a. For studies under 6 months:

o Documents accounting for an employment, pension allowance or scholarship with a monthly income equivalent to minimum $500.00 USD, free of taxes, during the last 3 months, or,
o Investment documents or bank accounts with a monthly average balance equivalent to $750.00 USD during the last 3 months, or,
o If the applicant is less than 25 years old, his parents or legal guardian can present the evidence of economic solvency.

b. For studies of more than 6 months:

o Documents accounting for an employment, pension allowance or scholarship with a monthly income equivalent to minimum $500.00 USD, free of taxes, during the last 3 months, or,
o Investment documents or bank accounts with a monthly average balance equivalent to $5,000 USD during the last 3 months, or,
o If the applicant is less than 25 years old, his parents or legal guardian can present the evidence of economic solvency.

7. Take part in a consular interview.

Usually, if the abovementioned requirements are fulfilled and no force majeure impediment arises, in particular the availability of the internet service, the visa is issued the same day it’s requested.

Minors. Children under 18 years of age have to present their birth certificate and have to be accompanied by either both parents or their legal guardians, or present a notarized authorization from them to travel to Mexico (applies also for minors travelling alone). When travelling with single parents, widows or divorcees, the corresponding documents should be presented.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us through the email embnigeria@sre.gob.mx, or to the phone (+234) 9462-0630. The opening hours are Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 17:00 hours. For visa applications, the schedule is from Monday to Wednesday, from 09:00 to 15:00 hours.

Hello,
I booked/schedule appointment for each of them (my wife, and two kids) with same date with mine (primary applicant). But my main challenge is, am unable to secure same time for all. On each of the available day with the time, I saw only one (1) slot, none of the available day/time allow more than two (2) applicant. Mine (Primary applicant) is 10.00am, my daughter (dependant, under 6 years old) is 10.15am, my son (dependant, under 4 years old) is 10.30am and my wife is 10.45am. My concern, would these different timing work for us ? since we are family.

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME HERE. WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE QUESTION FOR MEXICO INTERVIEW AND WHAT ARE THE NECESSARY THINGS I HAVE TO GO WITH PLEASE I NEED URGENT HELP CAUSE MY APPOINTMENT IS IN 4 DAYS
LUDATRAVELS:
Tips and what to expect at the embassy :

The first thing you need to know is that the Mexican man that will conduct this interview is necessarily not as intelligent as you,you are probably older than him, maybe more academically qualified than him and most times more grammatically competent than him,the only major difference between you two is that he is from Mexico and you are from Nigeria. So,dont be nervous, fret or shake.Don't show any sign of being desperate even though you are determined.Don't try to impress, just know the facts and say it relaxed and confidently looking straight to his eye balls.

When you enter the embassy, there are basically three people in the section or room where you will be attended to : 2 Nigerian ladies and a Mexican man (at present). One of the ladies will call you and collect your documents from you and ask you few questions after which you will be asked to go and sit down. The second lady gets your documents for thorough examination ....let me purse here on the tips and what to expect at the embassy and jump to our questions and answers topic that we started earlier..i will continue from there in my next post...

Qustn

(1) First time traveler ?

Ans.

YES or NO

Your answer will depend on whether you have traveled before or not. If you have it's of advantage,if you haven't,no problem it's not a disadvantage just say the truth.
Qustn

(2) Why travel to Mexico ? ......why not any other country?

Ans.

There is no rigid answer to this question. However, your answer must be centered around the advantages Mexico has over the rest countries of the world in the area of culture, hospitality, history, climate, diversity and the likes. Do not say the things you do not know or say facts you are not sure of,so it's important you have accurate facts about the country.

Qustn

How long are you going to stay ?

if you are applying for tourist visa which is our focus on this topic,i will advice you dont spend more than two weeks or even less. This is important for few reasons : 1,Your account balance must be enough to cater for your travel expenses and you while in Mexico, you cant have 500k for example in your account and say you will be spending two weeks in Mexico, that is not realistic but if you have the means ,no problem. 2, Just to play the good man or woman.

hang in for the answers to more questions in my next post .... PEACE !
