K.C was all dressed up for Dami's convocation and he couldn't help but admire himself in the mirror.

''Man, I look cute'' he smiled as he adjusted the collar of his T-shirt.

Since he wasn't the one graduating, he had decided to dress casually, moreover, he won't be spending much time there.

Blame the sadist proffessor who wouldn't let him be!

He droved out in excitement. He was finally going to meet Dami's mother and her little sister who both arrived Enugu the previous day.

He was humming to a song as he drove.

Just outside the school gate, his phone rang.

''Hello Nathaniel O..

Cutting him off, Nate yelled ''Shut up man!''

He smiled, everyone knew he was the most witty amongst the three, he utilized every opportunity he gets to tease everyone.

''So, happy weekend man'' he greeted.

''It's actually a bad weekend for me'' Nate complained.

''Hey, what happened, are your parent sticking their noses where they don't belong again?''

''Watch your mouth, they are my parents'' Nate warned feigning anger.

Laughing, K.C muttered ''You know I didn't mean it right?''

''Yeah right, so why are you all excited today, what did you win?'' Nate asked.

He kept mute for a moment and reluctantly he said ''Today is Dami's convocation''

Nate burst into laughter and K.C had to throw the phone aside until he was done laughing.

''What's funny now?''

''When did you start attending people's convocation?'' Nate asked still laughing.

''Dami is a good friend'' he defended.

''From Dami is a good friend it will soon become Dami is a good wife'' Nate said hissing.

K.C got irritated ''Don't be ridiculous, you know that marriage rubbish is not for me''

''K.C if only that word 'Love' existed, I would have said you are in love''

He wanted to scream ''I don't love her'' but he couldn't get the words out, he tried again, same thing.

''Nate stop putting words in my mouth'' he said calmly, still wondering why he couldn't say those words out.

''Mr. Loverboy, just don't end up like Ken'' Nate said, thinking out loud.

''yeah, about that, I think Ken should stop getting himself all worked-up over nothing, he should just give her space, I'm sure she will come around'' K.C said, lowering his voice to a whisper.

''I'm not sure Ken can do that, he is looking like a walking corpse already'' Nate said with a grimace meaning every word he said.

''That's sad, really!'' K.C said dryly

''I don't wanna spoil your date with your sissy Eko, so goodbye''

K.C felt his worries abate to a reasonable degree under Nate witty statement.

''It's not a date'' he yelled into the phone.

''Yeah, right! It's a get together'' Nate said mischieviously.

''Bye Nate''

K.C hung up and continued humming to his music, as he drove into the school compound with anticipation.

Nate couldn't stop thinking about K.C and his friend Dami.

K.C never calls without mentioning Dami.

''K.C is really behaving strange'' he said softly.

He just hoped that the Dami girl has genuine intentions and no ulterior motive towards K.C just like the one Bella had towards him.

He picked his phone, logged into facebook and his hands clicked on Jane's facebook account as if they had a mind of it own.

''What?'' he screamed and looked at his phone screen again so as to confirm what he just saw.

He quickly jumped off the bed and ran to his lapton like he was being chased by an evil spirt.

As the computer was booting, he rubbed his eyes and looked at the screen again, and the words were still there.

...Friends, Please pray for my mum, she is dying...

Those words were there on the screen, clear and and simple.

With a gasp, he quickly checked his computer files for Jane's home address, luckily all his staffs profile and other details were in his laptop.

He memorized the address and ran out of the room with his car keys in his hand.

''Nate, it's weekend'' his mum reminded him when he got to the sitting room.

''Mum I know, but this one is important'' he replied and hurried out of the house without a backward glance at his mum who was complaining.


He got into the car and drove off with the thought of Jane's last facebook post blocking out every other thoughts from his mind.

''Happy Convocation Dami'' K.C said as soon as he got to where she stood looking like she was searching for someone.

''woah, you came'' she said giggling ''Thanks for coming''

''Your majesty, I had to come for you'' he said teasingly.

''Hey come'' she said and grabbed his hand ''Come and meet my mum and my troublesome little sister''

He smiled and followed her.

''K.C meet my mum and my sister Rachel and mum meet my friend'' Dami introduced them and K.C greeted the woman, an older version of Dami ''Good morning ma''

''Morning, my son, how are you doing?'' the woman asked.

''Friends, I see! friends indeed'' Rachel chipped in and they all turned to her.

''I just said my mind'' Racheal added smiling.

And K.C scowled at her through Narrowed eyes, already hating her gut.
