Leigh, I have never been one to comment on stories I read here (wonder why).

Anyway, I have been reading and following all your stories.

Yesterday, I read your last update, just before bed. Your narrative on the child's decapitation was so very vivid. I did not think much of it, said my prayers and went to bed.

For the first time in forever, I had a nightmare. I relieved all of that poor baby's suffering. Funny enough, I kept telling myself to wake up, that it was a dream.

When my husband eventually woke me up, as I was thrashing about so much, I quickly rushed to check up on my kids.

The essence of my essay, is to say, well done. Thank you for being an awesome writer and making my day.

wow!!! What a wonderful testimony!!! Weldone Leigh...I predict Linda may become a lady evangelist or a pastor after she survive dis ordeal/suffering lol... My opinion though..

This story made me stay glue to my phone screen since d beginning, i kinda felt pity for Linda sha cos d Lord is merciful.
Lucien and d rose devil have not right to judge her cos they are so innocent ,just dat she went too far towing d baby away like a piece of rag,i beg help reduce Linda punishment, and i just wondering what lucien and d rose devil are. Welldone for the nice work ma'am.

Chapter 44

Enitan looked up from the forms that she was filling in; she put her pen down on the forms and turned her thoughts to Tunde in the hospital.

Was he ok?

She hated him but he was still the father of her kids and for their sake she had to have some prick of sympathy for the prick.

She smiled at her own joke; she sighed deeply as she looked out at the window into the clear blue sky. The clear blue sky was in total contrast to the turmoil she was currently going through.

She was torn between leaving him to rot and going to see him in hospital.

Tunde, what the hell have you been doing, as the images of the video played over again and again in her mind. She hoped the girl had not sent it to her kids, she would have to find a way of asking them without letting on what was on it.

If that video got out, knowing the way people thought about things, someone somewhere would still end up blaming her.

She sighed deeply as she got up from the table and stretched her legs.

The Good Samaritan had called back to tell her the hospital the ambulance was taking him to, he had repeated his question.

Had Enitan been able to get hold of his wife Linda?

Her answer had been that she was trying.

Tunde had called her earlier, to say that he wanted to talk and he wanted to see if they could work things out. His words had left her feeling confused and guilty.

Tunde was the father of her kids, she felt she owed it to them to sort things out with their Father.

Maybe she had been too hasty in seeking a divorce, she sighed as she added her signature to the forms her new place of employment had told her to fill in.

She should be feeling excited about her new job, instead she was feeling deflated and uncertain.

The light came on her phone; something was coming through either a call or text.

The continuous vibration signalled a call. She moved the phone towards her it was Tobi her daughter.

‘Hi Tobi.’

‘Hi Mum, just thought I would give you a call to see how the interview went.’

‘Thanks darling, I got the job’ she smiled into the phone.

‘Well done babes, I knew you would wow them. Does that mean you will buy dinner for your one and only daughter?’

Enitan rolled her eyes and laughed.

Tobi was in university and was always hungry or broke.

‘I think that can be arranged, how’s your brother?’ Enitan asked. Her twin, Tolu was in the same university as his sister, but they lived separately even though they were twins.

‘He is fine, the last time I saw him, he was going off to a music festival with his friends.’

Enitan knew that the two of them were as thick as thieves, they spoke to each other constantly. Tolu even though he was a man had learnt how to communicate properly with his sister. He definitely was in touch with his feminine side.

So most probably that meant they had WhatsApp’d, tweeted, or God knows what in the last hour. It had always been that way between the twins, they were incredibly close.

‘I have some bad news Tobi, your father is in hospital.’ Enitan said, quietly into the phone.

The news was greeted with silence on the other end.

‘Tobi? Are you still there, can you hear me.’ Enitan asked.

‘I am here, Mother,’ Tobi only called her Mother when she was not happy with her.

‘What’s wrong with him?’ The disdain in her voice, made Enitan slightly uncomfortable.

‘From what I gather he had a heart attack in a coffee shop, he was rushed to the hospital via an ambulance.’ Enitan stated.

‘Ok, so what do you want us to do?’ Tobi asked.

Enitan paused, that was not the answer she was expecting.

‘Tobi he is your Father, pity him a bit he is in hospital.’

‘I don’t want to see him, I doubt if Tolu would want to see him either.’ Tobi answered.

Enitan was shocked.

‘Mum, he was horrible to you and he was...’

‘Hold on a minute Mother, your tone has changed. Are you thinking of getting back together with him?'

‘I really hope not.’ She said.

‘Your Father called me and left a message that we should try and work things out.’ Enitan said quietly into the phone.

‘Mum have you forgotten the abuse and ridicule you had to suffer before you left Lagos?’

‘Do you also know that Dad put the lady in that place in Isolo?’

‘All that stress made you look so sad and dishevelled.’ Tobi said, the irritation obvious in her voice.

‘Mum, for goodness sake, your friends gossiped salaciously behind your back.’ Tobi continued.

The Mum was back again, Enitan thought wryly.

‘Mother, one of your friends even put the story on nairaland; even though you were not mentioned by name. We all knew who was being referred to.’

‘There was even a video.’

‘Did you know that, Mother?’ Tobi asked.

Tobi was definitely pissed off with Enitan.

Enitan paused, she did not know that.

Chai.
Her so called friends had taken to social media to publicise her woes, she hadn’t known that.

Kids, they know a lot more than we give them credit for.

Sh!t she thought, what about the new video had they seen it?

‘I don’t think it’s a good idea Mother, the two of you are divorced you should move on.’

‘Give yourself a chance and a break Mum, just because he didn’t lift his hand on you, he still abused you mentally.’ She delivered that bomb so calmly, Enitan was shocked.

‘Tolu and I discussed it all the time, the way he belittled you at every turn and in front of other people, Mother.’

‘It was very uncomfortable for us children to see and watch.’ Tolu sighed into the phone.

Enitan could not say anything, how do you explain to your child that you endured all of the pain; one to remain married and two because of the wellbeing of the kids.

Enitan sighed, kids were not blind they picked up on a lot of things.

‘Ok I have listened to what you have said Tobi, I will go and visit him and I will let you know how he is.’ Enitan said.

‘Ok, Mum that’s fine if you have to go, but don’t expect us to come with you.’

Enitan decided not to push it and changed the subject, they talked about where they would go for dinner and ended they ended the call.

Enitan put the phone in her bag, deep in thought; the last video from Linda had put a dagger through her heart. She hoped and prayed that she had not sent it to her children.

She packed her bag with the forms she had filled in and some of the supporting documents she needed to scan and send with them.

Enitan arrived at the hospital one hour later, and asked for Tunde at the reception desk, she told the receptionist that she was his wife.

Well there were two letters missing, but this was an emergency, plus if push came to shove she had the documents to prove it.

She was directed to the Green ward, there was a note on the patient’s file for the wife to contact the Doctor.

The receptionist called the Doctor and told him the wife was enroute.

The Doctor turned out to be a Nigerian man, he greeted Enitan, as warmly as he could in such unforeseen circumstances.

‘Good afternoon Madam, are you Tunde’s wife?’

‘Good afternoon Doctor, yes I am.’ Enitan replied.

‘I am Doctor White.’ The Doctor replied.

Enitan thanked God, for not having rushed into going back to her maiden name; otherwise she would find it hard to bluff her way if she was asked for ID.

‘It isn’t good I’m afraid, as you must be aware he is suffering from syphilis that he left untreated, I don’t know if the heart attack is a result of that or just that he is susceptible to having a heart attack.’

‘The syphilis has affected him severely, it has done a lot of irrevocable damage to his nervous system; as it stands I don’t know how much time he now has left.’ The Doctor stated, while scribbling notes into his tablet.

Even the hospitals had gone high tech; Enitan thought to herself, as she tried to process the bombshell the Doctor had just dropped.

‘When he came to me I told him to get his affairs in order, that he had less than a year if he was lucky.’

Enitan stared at him, ‘Less than a year of what?’

‘Life.’ The Doctor replied and stared at her.

The shock must have been obvious on Enitan’s face.

The Doctor turned to her and led her away to a quiet corner.

He was quiet for a minute then started talking.

‘I am talking to you as a Sister, Madam.’ He,paused for a minute.

‘My best friend and the person I told everything too died of AIDS, due to her husband’s peccadillos.’

‘She died in my arms, she could not tell her parents the truth of her ailment. As they would have cursed her husband to hell and back.’ There was a catch in the Doctor’s voice.

‘That woman, was my twin sister.’ He straightened himself, the grief in his voice subsumed.

‘Please go and check yourself, as knowing some men as I do, he will never tell you.’ He placed a hand on her shoulder the compassion radiating from his face.

Enitan was speechless and suddenly felt the need to go to the toilet and st!t herself.

Sh!t!!!

Enitan thought back to the night less than a year ago when Tunde had come to her for S3x. He had not come near her for a long time, so when he turned up on her bed she had not sent him away.

Haaaa..... Madam Lleigh pls save Enitan... She must nt b infected... pls pls pls....
