Hello great house. So i got to the US earlier this week (yet to be so impressed sha...lol). Anyways thought to share my port of entry experience. I flew through Abu Dhabi to Chicago and based on the new development, I was stamped in at Abu Dhabi not Chicago (For those who still don't agree that this is happening...it is):

At Abu Dhabi....
CBP: What are you going to do in the US?
Me: To study for an MBA
CBP: Do you have any close relatives in the US?
Me: Yes (and I mentioned who and relationship)
CBP: Do you have any food items?
Me: Yes (and I listed them)
CBP (sounding surprised): You don't have garri (CBP pronounced it like an ijebu man...lol)?
Me: No
CBP: Thought Nigerians can't survive without it
CBP: (Shows me my bags on a screen): Are those your bags?
Me: Yes
CBP: (Cleared bags and stamped me in)
Shikena...so at Chicago i just went in like a domestic traveller.

Great to be where there is constant electricity sha, guess that is the only wow thing so far and of course the place is sooooo organized

Lol! what about the tarred roads and you don't have to deal with roads covered with dust and dirt at least for a while grin

VISA APPROVED on the 26th July, 7:15am at Lagos Embassy

My transcript goes thus:
Vo: Good morning ma'am,how are you?
Me:I'm fine, good morning.
Vo: pass me your passport.....oh!I see you are a student, give me your F-I20.
Vo: so why did you choose morgan state university?
me: I choose MSU because they offer masters in public health with a concentration in Environmental health which will help me implement programs that will improve and promote healthy style living among people of my community here in Nigeria, which is in line with my future career as a community health worker and also i will be joining Dr ABC's research which is aimed at reduction and prevention of HIV/AIDs, sexually transmitted diseases, substance use and alcohol abuse among emerging adults between the ages 18-27.
VO: what university did you do your undergraduate?
Me: Unilorin here in Nigeria.
VO: what year did you graduate?
Me: 2010
VO: what have you being doing after your NYSC?
Me: I was retained at my ppa as a community health worker at YZ foundation which is an NGO after which I took up a job in 2015 as a lab assistant with ABC specialist hospital, we collect samples from patients, document these samples, analyse it,grow it on a culture media (well i just described my duties here)
VO: did you write any test, GMAT, GRE?
Me: I took GRE
Vo: how many schools did you apply to? Me: 3
VO: name them Me: MSU,CSU,TU
VO: mention some of the required courses?
Me: environmental health, statistical methods, epidemiological methods, Biological basis, behavioural health science, public health community needs solution......i mentioned 6/7 cant remember again
VO: who is your sponsor?
Me: my mother.
VO: what does she do?
Me: she is a business woman.
VO: what sort of business?
Me: na so I start to the stammer oh.... rice production, ehnn rice wholesales.....(lol) eventually I was able to say she's one of the major rice distributors in Ilorin.
VO: smiling .....you'll be needing this at the POE.......I no hear the rest again then he passed the white sheet and my F-I20 to me
ME: I put my hands on the slab, face down and I was laughing.... I took my papers and left.

For me I would say it was just God's favour, I told God I wanted a smiling VO and just 2 minutes interview with very few questions and a white sheet at the end...............and it was so.
I couldn't help but notice a lady who was talking so loud with all energy "saying I will cure polio,I will cure this and that" fear begin dey catch me say if she could speak like this and ended up with a blue sheet, wetin I want talk again but I was calm and very optimistic.
MY ADVICE
you don't need to shout to convince the VO, shouting makes one sound like a desperado.
Maintain eye contact..... although in my case i was looking at him but i no even see am.....cos i was looking behind him and focusing on what he was asking me.
once again I say thanks to Textrem, walspring and Akins2016..............you guys are wonderful. And to all the guys and ladies keeping this thread alive and active...........you guys are doing a great job......well done and God bless.

Congratulations. #TeamMorganstateUni

yellow blue or purple card .........you don't need none of that in the USA
But don't forget a pack of Anti Malaria just incase you need it . That you cannot find to buy over the counter in the US

Alright. I got 296k to DC The other cheaper deal is N223k to New York with Royal Air Maroc

Just thinking the Qatar deal is better for me, the stress of connecting to DC from jfk might be equal to the price difference

MrChillz:

Mackynaija used Qatar to Houston this week. Another member left with Qatar today. You can read up Mackynaija's review. Just search it up.

That is not correct. You might not find to buy it over the counter but you can buy it with a doctor's order from the pharmacy.

Please, I intend filling a new DS 160, what do I do to the old one? Should I just go ahead and generate a new code or I will have to login to the previous one and edit anything I feel like, although I wont be altering anything in the old DS160. Please how do I go about it, is it that I will just have to abandon the old one and fill in the new security detail and generate new code? This is urgent, someone should help!

Fill new DS160 copy the code, on your visa portal dashboard once you are about to book for new appointment there is a space there to remove the old one and replace it with the new one.

Thanks, but a new appointment confirmation will be generated the moment I start filling a new one. I'm confused please.

Yes it will. You'll then have to update your profile with the new confirmation code.

There's really no question here.

If it's a nice school?

What makes a school nice? My preference differs from yours, so you'd have to be a little more elaborate.

what the tuition?

A simple google search would tell you that. All the information you need is on the website of the school. Just take your time to learn how to navigate it.
