Stephandeswardt:In fact I know exactly what distance they can be operated from because I own several and the info is on the internet, it’s not that impressive unless modded. |

Stephandeswardt: They don't drop one bomb. That's why two aircrafts are being used. Watch the videos and notice the other one changes to canon after dropping its bomb while the second aircraft bombs a designated area too. |

jakeporeshenko:I saw a BHT propaganda video early this year that was shot in an uncompleted building. There, a young boy was flying a mini quad copter while other watches on. They may seem and look ragtag but don't let look fool you. The longer this war takes the stronger they get because they will continue to adapt if we don't step up our game. Stephandeswardt: |

tdayof:ISIS have been using Drones to drop bombs on Iraqi forces with chilling and devastating effects. When drones are in the sky it can be somehow difficult to spot by soldiers locked in armored tanks and APCs. I pray BHT doesn't get to that level which is why we need to end this war decisively now! |

Xbee007: They're noticeable . Watch those ISIS videos and you'll see those soldiers running away. Our soldiers don't do escort in armored tanks . |

Stephandeswardt: depends on 1.cost operational effectiveness, 2.the maximum permissible load of the individual weapon stations, 3.the mission profile 4.and the type of targets etc generally (very rough figures) a 250 kg bomb has a blast radius out to 15 meters, with fragmentation effect out to 50 meters. a 500 kg bomb has a blast radius out to 30 meters, with fragmentation effect out to 100 meters. whats the point of attacking a hut with 3/4 insurgents with a 500kg bomb ? will u be able to bear the costs , in such cases cost operational effectiveness is very low , ur expending more dollars for killing targets which can also be killed easily with cheaper bombs. in short ur playing into the hands of insurgents ie slow but steady attrition of ur resources whats happens if multiple targets pops up , in place of 2 500kg bombs if u can carry 4 250kg bombs ur engagement scope increases. is the aircraft in question certified to carry 500kg stores , if yes good if no then nothing can be done (depends on aircraft type) if ur in a seach and destroy mission which one is generally more convenient, 4 250 kg bombs or 2 500 kg bombs unguided bombs r more effective if released in a pattern.eg 4 250 kg bombs released in a linear drop pattern will damage a long convoy more than 2 500kg bomb. heavier 500kg bombs r more difficult to deliver accurately vis a vis lighter 250kg bombs. difference aint much but still appreciable depending on the aircraft in question. etc 2 Likes |

$600 million USD for 12 propeller driven aircraft D.A.M.N.A.T.I.O.N. What are they offering for goodness sake to warrant such daylight robbery Are they going to build new hangers? Are they going to give us production license? Are they going to supply us 1000 PGMs? Are they going to base their technical staff here in Nigeria? how many tonnage of spares would twelve aircraft need In its whole operational life cycle? or what capabilities does the Tucano have that other aircraft doesn't have? what sophisticated gadgetry does it bring? or what sleek aerial maneover does it do that other aircraft cant? With that amount alone any country can design and build COIN aircraft from scratch, Nigeria included. For that amount we'll require electronic and visual stealth capabilities while being able to launch ten ballistic nuclear cruise missiles plus it must be hypersonic and should be able to tranverse space and bend time. Since we are the first country to buy turboprop aircraft. R.U.B.B.I.S.H. 4 Likes |

newafricaken254:Hand held grenade with blast radius capable of obliterating an Armoured Tank? Any way, I am sure NA will not seat duck while BH acquire the tech how. tdayof:Not always. I have watched Iraqi army shoot many out of the sky but it is not always easy. Sometimes, they can be caught off guard with little or no time for reaction. |

Xbee007:The Russians are the first to use such tactics. they would outfit thermite incendiary grenard on drones and drop it on Ukrainian arms depot or cache with overwhelming results. Whether we know it or not warfare would be fought assymetrically with Russia leading the pack. there are electronic jamming weapons tbat can spoof UAVs and drones., Isreal has a nice UGV that looks like a regular rock which they sneak into hostile territory for COMINT AND SIGINT China has recently proved that they can control up to 400 small drones for swarm attack |

walemoney007: You guys sometimes ... The only way to find out something & not be rediculose in life is to ask why ? Then how ? .... Military dont look at making stuff beutiful but effective ... There is a reason why must of everything that is training is mostly in the north first reason is History .. Kaduna was ones the capital of Nigeria thats even why is the second melting polt after lagos .. The civil war push the military to build training institution in the north ... Look at your list why is Navy hydrografic school in south south ??... Yes good answer because there is water there wow ... Very good there are reason for everything ... And when you look at it very carefully most of the training of army/airforce are in the north then the operational command is in the south East this make sense. Most of the things that are related with signals and all those blabla are Lagos no doudt Lagos is the most technology advance state in Nigeria most of the infracturture are already there. So plz stop this juju thinking and be objectiv. And more you have divided south-west south-east and south south you must divide the north to like north west north east and north north |

lionel4power: I'm 100% sure that with that kinda money you would've been given full access to the 'AHRLAC Aircraft' research the money would've been used to co-develop & design a larger and more powerful version of the Aircraft which also includes local production in Nigeria. 1 Like |

4 250kg bombs give you better spread if your target is spaced out. Also works better on soft skinned vehicles. Trust me, I've been near 250's when they are dropped and it's no joke. Take extra underwear. The bombs that the SAAF use in exercise also differs from operational weapons. On real operational targets they get to take the expensive Pre-frag bombs out of storage. Those things make a mess out of anything other than a tank. We had a big fuel air bomb in testing that was very impressive, but the funding dried up. Stephandeswardt: 1 Like |
