Greeting great house and congrats to those who are about leaving for the US.

Please I have a few things I need the experts to clarify for me.

I have gained admission for Spring 2018 in a University and their Cost of attendance is about $18k. However, that is not my 1st Choice school. If after securing my visa and traveling to the US, and I get admission into my more preferred university for Fall 2018 which offer GA and tuition waiver, can I do a transfer? And if yes, do I have to return immediately to Nigeria or I can chill in the states till I can resume in my preferred institution?

Please what are the chances that I wouldn't be out of status?

As a guru it is best to return to Nigeria and start the rat race again cheesy

He doesn't need to return to Nigeria. With a new I-20 issued by the new school you can apply to the Department of Homelands Security (I hope I got the name right) for update of your I-20.

I remember my son once changed college without returning to Nigeria.

Nigerians and "I must have car" mentality

They just wan begin enter street sharpaly.

No be so . cool head down. Plan yourself and hop into those smelly public buses. Enjoy the pain of real hustle save and have enough liquid cash I repeat liquid cash growing moustache in the bank while reading like say tomorrow no dey

You can start thinking of car or motor after at least a semester grin

Having a car in US is a necessity not luxury except you're in place like New York, Maryland, DC with good public transportation system.

My dinner nearly went the wrong way after reading that. CMU ranked the #10 business school in the states? Just off the top of my head - UPenn, NYU, Cornell, MIT, Harvard, Stanford, UCLA, Northwestern, U Chicago, Yale, Columbia... the VO will just laugh you out to a blue paper. Obviously your "god" didn't tell you to read and prepare.
Twood, I have been following your obscure comments about God in all of your posts here; what really did God do to you? It's quiet nauseating ! Please, keep your obvious hatred for God to yourself and do what this thread is for!

Prof ITK who mentioned luxury?

I have lived in this country way long enough to let you know EVERY CAPITAL. and major city in the USA has a transportation system they may vary in terms of scheduling, sophistication and how fast between routes

He is a student an international at that. He doesn't need no damn car.

Most of them that hustle to get car like that put themselves in unnecessary debt. Get a bicycle or use buses. Am believing his school cannot be more than 6miles away from his home and there are buses in the school also

With good timing and management he will not have problem moving around the first semester.

There will be students graduating that he can buy cheaper cars from after settling down and saving some dough

If you want to purchase one talk to a stock broker.

If you need the services of one.

(1) Turn your naija 3 sim phone on

(2) access an unsecured wifi from a restaurant, library, major telecommunications stores

(3) Type your query in your browser

Then decide lol

To anyone going for their interview tomorrow, all the best. I am yet to go for my interview so the following is also a checklist for me as much as I would love to encourage others out there going for their interviews.

items to take with you:
- A clear, transparent folder to put all your documents in
- Your passport
- Your i-20
- Your DS160 confirmation page
- Your appointment confirmation page
- GTbank receipt for visa fees
- SEVIS payment receipt
- Bank statement/ Any letter showing proof of funds, including scholarship award letters
- 2 passport photographs

What to wear
This is my opinion and based on my personal taste, but I think business casual will be more appropriate than anything else. Of course wear what makes you feel comfortable, but business casual personally helps me to feel confident and more sure of myself.

Questions to look out for
I have had a look at transcripts and noticed that these questions are quite common (or variations of them), so take your time to think through them:

1) What course are you going for and why did you pick the course you chose to study?
2) Why did you pick the school you chose to attend?
3) What are your plans after graduation? Although from what I have seen, this question appears to be VERY rare. Prepare for it nonetheless, particularly for Masters students.

If I have missed out anything, the gurus can help fill it out.

The V.O is not necessarily your enemy
I may be wrong but I do not think the default mode of the V.O is "Reject, reject, reject until an outstanding candidate comes in". I think that they would not mind giving the visa IF we can prove our genuine intent to study. It is an interview, yes, but it is also a conversation. Let us try and relax with them.

Finally...

- Rest well tonight
- Pray for God's favor if you are religious
- Rest well tonight smiley

ALL THE BEST TO EVERYONE!!!

Purchase courier service? I am not underestimating you but I dont think you can afford FEdex nor DHL. .....Anyway if you meant mobile network carrier , Lycamobile is your best bet if they have network in your area.

Yes you can transfer and if it the next semester then you dont need to re appear or apply for a new visa you just need an updated i20. Although what.i am sure about is if you are attending the same school

If its change of school and change of semester then i am not sure

AbujaNIV, the yellow paper states the review will take 2 weeks. Yet someone has been waiting for more than 2 weeks. And the response he got was that the visa officer hasnt looked at it.

Resumption is very close. I am surprised he hasnt gotten any feedback/update. His interview was July 21st. Does Abuja take this long? Na wa ooo
