Invariably, I can make the bank transfer from someone else's account that uses either of those banks. Am I right?

Yes. That's what I did.

Awwwww, i think you shouldn't burn the results, keep them, so that when you finally land in Canada and start doing great things, they will be part of your story and what you will show your kids as an evidence of your resilience. Congratulations.

Hello guys.
Can someone please, explain the details of IELTS payment to British council.
I am confused about the bank transfer process.
I do not stay in Nigeria, but will be coming in sometime next week
Deadline for payment is on Tuesday.
Biko help a sister out, ASAP.

I used UBA too. The BC stated on their website that online payment should not be used. What I did was to purchase Bank Draft of 68k at UBA then used courier to send it to BC from my base. Get someone in Lagos that can purchase the Bank draft early tomorrow from any UBA branch and the person will take it personally to BC tomorrow. You should be fine.

I can guarantee you that even the agents can't hold tickets beyond 24-48hrs without paying. It's very bad business for the airlines. What the agents don't tell you is that they just keep cancelling and re-booking for you, especially when you are certain you will be traveling... And in many cases, they make more money of you if the rates are different at the time they actually pay for the ticket.

Thank you for explaining it properly for him. Which one is software to hold ticket lol. These Naija agents eh....u gotta love their creative minds.

Hmm. True.. I remember my Audi then. That car showed me pepper! I used to tell myself that when I finally sold it, I was going to use the money to travel and spend it anyhow just to enjoy myself.. Responsibilities laughed hard at me when I eventually sold it. I will keep them smiley

Please read and understand it carefully. You are muddling it up. This is your first IELTS testing oh grin

If you are paying FROM Zenith, GTB and First Bank, do bank transfer TO Standard Chartered Bank to the account name, British Council, then your own 99---- number as account number, with your reference number.
Since you have UBA, the answer is NO. You can't do bank transfer. It has to be cash deposit.

Ok now I understand, it's actually my 4th time...yes you read right 4th. None taken in Nigeria hence the confusion on the mode of payment. Thanks for explaining.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I have read it up on CIC site and it is mentioned that they will return any excess payment after processing.
Maybe I should wait for final processing because I did not see any other process or way to follow to make the refund request on their site.

elfmann:

No, u should not have paid. Ask for a refund.

Hello Kyaggy,

1. I don't think you can make the transfer from UBA as the instruction says either FIRST BANK , GTBANK OR ZENITH BANK.

2. To formulate the account number, you have to follow the instruction that British Council stated. i.e the number you get is dependent on the location you choose, the month you want to write your exams and the last two digits of your international passport.

3. For the bank transfer, it is better to make the payment using your name because you might need to send your evidence of payment to British Council. (I paid using GTBank internet banking and had to send my evidence of payment to British Council). On the other hand, you can send someone that you trust to raise a bank draft in favour of British Council. You will send the cash to the person and also give your details to the person . The person will take it to any nearest British Council office.

Best regards.

Thank you so much Glitteringstar, very detailed explanation. Thank you.

Yes, you can get your supervisor to sign the letter you draft, but you need to print in on the letter headed paper... That should not be difficult for you or supervisor to get a hold of. That's what my wife did.

Try avoiding the notary if you can.

Thank you very much Sir. I already have the letter headed paper and i was going to draft the supervisor letter on that. I was also going to add the business card of my supervisor too. Only thing is i got a scare from a colleague who said CIC would be aware that my company does not give such letters and that if i try to satisfy them by giving the letter as requested, it might come across to them as fraudulent and doctored.

But i'll go ahead with it as it has worked for you. Many thanks and very much appreciated.

Provided we get a draw in the next 7-10 days (<Aug 21-22), we should be looking at a CRS score below 433 or maybe even below 430, following this trend. The earlier, the more below 430.
Anything greater than 22-Aug could cause a bump in orange curve like the arrow shows for previous cases and we could be looking at an increase in the CRS score, maybe greater than 433 or even 440
Anycase, CRS score is not looking likely to be greater than 450 in the next draw.

Maybe... grin

@Slyman187, I would not advice you to use a company's letter head paper without permission/authorisation, it is wrong! You can search for the case between CIC and sone Gtb employee.
Get your supervisor to write the reference letter in CIC format on plain paper with his contact details and probably business card. Thereafter, notarize it and attach every other document you have alongside a LOE, you'll be good.

Thank you Cochtrane the graphical analyst. I'm really looking forward to a 'miracle' draw possibly this coming Wednesday or max in 10days.
#teamlessthan433. Delay (in draw) is dangerous

Pls also collect the introduction letter from ur HR and add it to your employment documents. If u can send them a mail and request for a ref in CIC format and make them respond that they cant give u in CIC format...also include their response with ur docs. You will be fine. But as advised...i think u should use plain paper for ur supervisor's letter. Cheers

I will advice you dont take this route, It may be viewed as fradulent. Your supervisor should write using plain sheet..You may attach the generic letter from HR.

If the supervisor reads, approves and signs the letter, how will CIC know that some one else drafted it? Considering the fact that CIC mentioned the letter should be issued by EITHER the HR or the supervisor on the company's letter head?

think you start reading from page one, that will give a solid understanding of express entry and will reduce the number of questions you will be asking.

Use this to understand what you need to do:
You can use this starter pack:

Starter Pack for newcomers on thread

Step -1
(a). Evaluate your credentials with WES or IQAS
https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/45#41743704

(b). You are in the medical profession and are applying as a pharmacist?
https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/124#46005448

(c). You are in the medical profession and are applying as a specialist physician?
https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/75#43438726

(d). You are not interested in being evaluated as a specialist (or professional in a licenced profession) and just want WES to evaluate your degree as a normal 4-year study? (applicable to medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, podiatry, optometry, law, chiropractic medicine, or pharmacy)
Revert back to (a)

Step-2
Register for IELTS and try to get CLB-7 and above.
Register here - https://ielts.britishcouncil.org/nigeria

CLB 7 = Speaking - 6, Listening - 6 to 7, Reading - 6, Writing - 6.
However, in order to score more points, you need to aim for CLB-9 and above, i.e. Speaking - 7, Listening - 8, Reading - 7, Writing - 7

Step-3
Do you have work experience of 1 year or more in Nigeria or your resident country? Good. If yes, then you are on your way to qualifying under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program.
Do you have a relation in Canada, related to your by marriage, adoption, blood? Brillant! If yes, more points for you.
But there is the next step!

Step-4
Calculate your CRS score, using your credential evaluation results (known as ECA) and your IELTS score.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp
Did you get a score above or in the range of 440-450? Then your chances are quite bright.
Check here to see the scores of previous rounds. Should give you an idea where you fall
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/past-rounds.asp

What's CRS score? Qualifies you for invitation to apply as a federal skilled worker.
However, make sure that you indeed qualify as a federal skilled worker by taking this eligibility test here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp

You will be applying for express entry (immigation) under the federal skilled worker program.

Step-5
Create an account and fill up your Express Entry profile. Your profile will consist of all the information above.

Then, you could be on your way to getting ITA.

What you should read next:
https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled#38373178

By this time, you should be able to understand the discussion on the thread and then follow the train

I'll ask my supervisor if He is authorized by the company to use letter head papers and if he can tale the pain for me. Possibly the only that can work out and if not, i do the plain paper/notary public with other documents.

I appreciate all inputs on this matter. I'll certainly update with the route i decide on.

@behati.. Thanks. I saw the gt bank case. Crazy stuff. But there was a hint of attempted misrepresentation from that.

Gracias
