Get your statement of account for the affected account, and highlight when you withdrew and when the man transfered to your account, the intervals should justify your claim. You can also make them realize that they ought to have frozen the man's account earlier to disengage his card from active transaction than making others suffer for his offense. What if you've offered a service he was to pay for, as he not used a legit medium of transaction?

they shouldn't tell you; you are to confirm yourself, with hard evidence. A printout of your transaction is the necessary first thing to do.

Step 1 - ask for the victim(the person they wired the money from) details and get in-touch with the person, ask the person which police station he reported the case too cos your account can't be freeze with police knowing about it.
step 2 - Look for a lawyer or Police(family friend) and go to the said station with the victim to report yourself. You will settle the matter their and you'll pay for police report to the bank (should be issued by the same station not road side report) to open your account.

You'll settle police (the police in charge)
You'll settle them to write letter to your bank to open your account.

Great idea! CCTV is the best way to go. Quickly suggest it before it disappears or erased (you know this is Naija)

Young man. Technically, you are guilty of conspiracy. Whether you knew the money was a proceed of crime or not and/or money laundering. Steps to take to clear yourself.

Find out from your bank which Organisation froze your account.

Get a good lawyer and go to meet them before they trace and arrest you. (The lawyers presence is for your own safety and legal representation.

Explain yourself, write a statement and pray/fast that they catch the original culprit.

Get someone / some people who will take you on bail (No lawyer will ever take you on bail).

If you get bail, spend your free time scouting every ATM stand to see if you can catch the man (a leopard cannot change its spots).

If you do, create a scene and get him arrested while you contact the agency that froze your account.

That's the only way you can exonerate yourself. Forget CCTV. They never work

@OP follow this instruction faithfully and stop beating about the bush. the issue you narrated is not as simple as you want us to think. if you don't know, get proper understanding now. Good luck.

some of them purposely come with an expired or scratched card which the ATM machine will definitely reach in your presence convincing you that it couldn't pay them

But to my greatest surpise, i was told that my bank account has been frozen. Anybody can be a victim. so do you mean bank now discourage Cashless policies. the said victim can be a businessman trying to cash out his money pay for goods and services. the OP made a mistake never u transact money u know nothing of and perhaps maybe u got your share inside, also Do u mean the suspect can't withdraw money himself. Get a good lawyer u have a good case. a question to the house. what about those going to buy goods and pay fraudulently do u mean the business owner is in trouble. Banks need urgent attention on this case cus so many will fall a victim. the OP have a clear case to win if he get a good lawyer.

. My brother I advice you with the love of God if truly u r innocent abeg don't go to the bank, they will arrest you and detain you.... By then your lawyers won't be able to help until the man whom the bank will call ur partner had been tracked down (which might take a year that is if they ever catch him) the money in question is running in millions I have seen a case like this before them go use u as escape Goat.....lesson never help any body you don't know with ur bank info.

I will advice u get a good lawyer and a police report to prove your innocent. if not u will be hunted.All Nigeria Banks need urgent attention here because the said man can also transact with innocent business men for their Goods. maybe also transferring money to them for the goods with same ATM and that will discourage Cashless policies Alot

But this case is somehow complicated in the sense that; so during those times that people were doing MMM and GetHelp, receiving money steady from strangers, if funds were transferred from fraudulent card/account, this is what the receiver will be facing?

The ATM queue was long, I was the next in line to make withdrawal. The bank has about 7 Atm machines with only 3 working on that day, the other 4 machines can only check balance or transfer.
The man approached me telling me he's in urgent need and needs to go somewhere that he should make a transfer to my account and I help him withdraw it. I gave him my account number and he transferred from one of the non-paying ATMs. I withdrew it for him on the paying machines

Many people here will see no sense here cus they are not the accomplish. but my advice with this thread. making transaction for people would be discourage. come out clean by getting a good lawyer advice on how to file the case. if not u have problem cus you don't know the status of the case. the police might escort u soon to kirikiri if u don't act fast.

I've been to the bank more than 3ce since last week and they kept saying d same thing "the other bank is asking for a refund"

this is not a simple case at all

you must know that police report and court order was filed before your account was frozen

what you should do now is to act fast

im even surpised you were not arrested when you went to your bank(I trust First BAnk)

call your bank to issue your statment of account covering the stipulated date.

get the details of the account from which the card was stolen from

get the account name and number

head on to facebook, google to search for the name

send request to all suggested names

get their phone numbers and call them one by one

get the victim

lias with him/her how you can take the issue to the bank he filed report at

talk to him,
you gonna refund the 50k
settle the police officers
you get family members to baill you out
they will write another police report and court order to unfreeze the account(you will pay for this)

when you do these, you will save your ass from further police or court case(because its hard to win)



NB: Do not go to the bank again, you might be arrested and you will not be able to do what you ought to do

have spoken to my lawyer friend close to me after reading this thread about such Case. he said get a police report and a barrister to file such case that u are innocent. u might be a businessman trying to get your money for goods been sold to the man by helping the said man to make the transaction easier. innocent people goes to jail cus of same issues without acting fast. the bank might be playing fast on you too to fall the victim. don't agree to pay any money u know nothing of if not you are on your own o. banks are also scared of lawyer if u have full evidence that u are not guilty.

A country where the OP would be writing from the jail cannot be said to be SANE. In a sane country, a competent court has to be convinced beyond doubt that the original writer is indeed guilty as charged through available evidence, before he can be sent to prison.

you are wrong there, in a sane country it would have taken less than a week for him to have his day in court.The fact that he willingly gave his account details t the stranger is good enough to go to prison.
