Please I need advise I had my baby in 2014,went for interview told them for visit to attend sis in law graduation as RN, was visibly pregnant About 6month,wasnt asked and I traveled at poe was asked and I told them after series of interrogation at BA was stamped six month into the USA d testimony was shared here in 2014, had my baby and paid all bills as advise on poe to ensure I have any reciept of payments which I have. On going for renewal via Dropbox was called for interview asked to narrate my trip and I did, he asked delivery was not mentioned at interview with vo and he didn't give room for explanation just denied the visa. I tried again Feb 14 2017,and explain reason for denial on application based on the fact that I didn't disclose pregnancy at interview but at poe and have paid all bills, the visa was denied again this time no story, ask question reason I want to travel but he said denied again like the last one. Pls advise I intend to reapply with family soon like early next year to visit what are my chances?please advise a sister. Thanks

Thanks a lot.

lol. That's what I call a shake down aka "chalo". I guess he was irritated by the health care excuse which he definitely knows isn't true.

I wonder the smartest way of responding to that question. Can someone just blurt out "oh I want my child to be a citizen of the US and have the benefit of choice".

Thanks a lot. Hope mama and child are keeping well.

I want to believe that the US CBP officers all already know that. They just want people to come out and be honest about it. The statement of "wanting to have better healthcare" have been falsely used to cover up the real intentions and that I think that alone pisses them off...lol!

Hi All,

Please I need your help.

My DW and I got the visa and during our interview we declared our intention to have a baby in New York. After getting the visa we changed our mind to travel to Florida instead and I fear that this might be a cause for dispute at the POE.

Kindly advise on what I need to do to avoid disappointment at the POE.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dhollargurl

Have you applied for and received your baby's Nig passport? How did you go about it? How 'seamless' was the process?

I have left Atlanta, did visa-on-arrival and i have applied for the passport in naija. Cos when i called the nigerian consulate in atlanta, nobody was picking, was left with an automated response and they reopened same week i was leaving, didn't know how fast the process would be so i opted for the more reliable option.

How i sincerely wish you found this forum before your 1st application,it would have saved you a lot of heart ache, because here you find out that once you are pregnant and intend to have the baby in the US,you volunteer that info whether asked or not.
Will advice you to give it a rest for a while say a year or two before reapplying, who knows, you just might find favour.
If you go back to page 309 you will find the story of a woman (just2testify) that even lied outrightly during her visa interview, when she was asked if she was pregnant or not,but she found favour and her visa was renewed

Hello. We don’t normally post in this thread, but it seemed worthwhile to drop in and correct some misconceptions. We say this a lot, but it bears repeating: Birth tourism is legal in the US provided the applicant is open about their intention and pays the medical expenses in full. This means that the applicant should declare any such intention they have at the Embassy/Consulate and again at the port of entry.

If it happens that the applicant gets pregnant well after the initial visa interview, they will have the opportunity to make their intention, medical preparations and financial resources known at the POE. However, it will remain up to Customs and Border Patrol whether to allow that applicant into the country. Some are not, and they are put on the next flight home. This must be extremely uncomfortable for a heavily pregnant person, to spend 15-20 hours on a flight to America, several more hours being questioned, then another 15-20 hours on a plane home. This is what we want to avoid.

Onto some other misconceptions:
The concept of the “change of intent” letter is not valid. These e-mails are not read nor correlated with the applicant’s file. Some people who send such letters may get a form letter in response, but it is informational in nature and in no way confers permission to amend the declared purpose of travel. What matters is what you declare at the Embassy/Consulate and at the POE. After the fact e-mails do not carry any weight.

Some applicants say, “I applied for only the B2 visa to declare my medical intent.” The B1/B2 visa categories are conjoined, so applying for only one does not make any difference. Other applicants say, “I appeared at the window with a big belly,” as if this alone is enough to declare their medical intent. Again, the responsibility is on the applicant to be honest about what they plan to do in the US.

Other considerations:
Medical care is expensive in the US, and costs can escalate dramatically if there are complications.
Credibility is paramount in the US visa process. If visa officers detect any deception or obfuscation, no amount of excuses, documents or receipts will make up for the loss of credibility.

In the spirit of giving back, I already posted my Poe expirience. I successfully had my twin via c section under doctor novoa in elpaso. Both of them were very ok so no issue and no nicu. Cs was done on Friday night and we were discharged on Sunday morning, thanks be to almighty God. I've gotten all their documents . Was waiting for my husband to go for his interview so we can add 1 baby to his ticket and 1 to mine.
Hi uzyfine congrats dear.. did you carry your twins upto 38 weeks or more?

If you really want my opinion, I'd say give it a rest. Forget about the US for now. Your credibility is already damaged and desperately reapplying would not change that.
But like I said earlier, no one knows your chances..... you might apply again and either be lucky and get a visa or be banned.
