I used gtb naira master card yeaterday.

Was the money in saving account? You should have moved it to current account if you have. mine alao initially failed when the money was in saving account. i remember i had same issue un 2016 application and got it resolved when my instinct yold me to move the money to gtb current account and retry the card payment again. It worked. I moved to current account and it worked.

bottomline: Visa payment thru that uk visa portal works only with gtb current account.

Just in case it helps anyone.

I invited few family members to UK recently as I find it a lot easier than traveling back due to having very young child.

So this time, invited my younger sister. she has a job , which pays her just under 150k. To make matters worse, about 40% of the salary is always owed for months before it's paid which makes her take home under 100k . I knew her income will be the "k leg" for that application. Considering her outgoings in a month is about. 70-80% of her income. She gets some pocket money from fiancé. which is another explanation for ECO. I was still bent on not totally sponsoring the trip.

So I invited her for a few days and clearly stated on my letter that she will go back and back to her job at the end of her stay. And that we will accommodate her during her day. I included a copy of my passport and water/electricity bill .

So my sister was down as the sponsor. Not because I can't easily afford it , but cos I think it makes sense that a responsible adult that has a job pays for their flight at least (there are cheap flights) and then have some pocket money to spare. so we put down the cost of trip as £800. Wrote a cover letter to address the short payments in months. and also clearly stated that finance also gives regular financial support. (Didn't add any doc from the fiancé cos it's irrelevant)

So in summary , she submitted ; her passport, payslips , letter from employer, salary account, personal account, electricity bill in her landlords name.

I got a call from ECA to discuss the application, during which he asked who is sponsoring the trip which I clarified that she will pay for her flight because she works and I will fully care for her when she is here. " I went on oo,cos that's my opportunity to clear things up.

So after that call , 1 month passed no response and another month passed, then another month ..... I even wasted my hard earned money phoning the clueless help line. I then decided to write to my MP to help. Visit visa taking longer than spouse visa causes great concern. Also at no point did we receive an email stating it will take long. We just got the standard 15 day processing email.

My MP kindly wrote to UKVI to query the delay. If that helped or not .. me don't know. But she got a response after 10 days. Picked up her passport with visa in it.

Very pleased with the outcome. To those still waiting you will get your good news soon. What I have learnt with visa applications is to put urself in the position of ECO and produce all relevant docs, and address any issues on a cover letter . Bearing in mind you don't attend interviews so that the only opportunity you have. Honesty also is the key cos it just makes all the stories you tell to add up sensibly.

Make I go prepare to receive my little sisi baby . Have missed her a lot!!! She is here next weekend. So excited.

No need for the explanation or no need to take it out? Sorry for the questions.

No need for the explanation since your are applying with your maiden name. Your marriage certificate is sufficient to support your change in marital status. However if you have documents bearing your marital name, include a cover note and a change of name affidavit.

Hello guys,
I am currently applying for Master's degree in UK, and I would like to know if the UK embassy requires everyone to submit IELTS test result during visa application, even if a British university admitted one without the English language test.

Hello everyone. I want to invite my parents to the UK. I want to sponsor both of them fully. Mum has a monthly salary of 100k but dad is retired for few months now. My husband and I have £2,500 to sponsor both of them. I am on a tier 2 visa. I have my utility bills, council tax and other bills. I want to send N150,000 to my dad's account gradually over the next few weeks before applying for the visa. My mum will attach her bank statement for 6 months (salary account) and payslip, and my dad-his pension documents and 1 month bank statement (N150,000). What else will help this application and how can I prevent them being refused. Thanks

This was worse grin

Watched my passport almost expiring. Hate going to government agencies, hate queuing in general. Yet to renew my driver's license because of this too.

Got approval for this travel just 4 days ago. Gatecrashed to renew passport at immigration in 2 days. Gatecrashed at visa office.

Now hoping the visa will not be delayed.

You can do the Driver's license online. I did mine that way. Very easy

I wanted my brother to sponsor me.

But, what if my employer sponsors me and explains it's my privilege as he's PA?

See you! Shebi they were telling you since, you were arguing with everybody! What is with you and leaching on other people for sponsorship? You seem not too sure of yourself, why? It makes more sense and a lot straightforward to sponsor yourself. Take heed

It's the same account reckoned with paying for calls as with visa fees. Move some money to your GTBANK current account. You'd need to have equivalent of £20 in the account and it'll be deducted upfront. The balance on the call charges will be refunded later.

I think it might be best for you pay for your trip (sponsor) especially if you work. If your boss decides to give you money towards the trip why not. But the less complicated and eyebrow raising stories in your application the better. It makes you application take a different shape compared to being sponsored.
I am not ruling out that a working young adult can't be sponsored (it really depends on the circumstance).

However if you have a fantastic boss who what's to sponsor your trip, you can add him as a co-sponsor but he should be ready to provide a letter explaining why he is doing that and also include his work/business documents , proof of earnings/bank statements. If he/she can't do this , don't think they will buy the story.

If you have a brother in the U.K. Who is inviting and accommodating you, I will suggest you make it plain an simple ... sponsor your self.

So, since have a friend who is inviting me and who will accommodate me in his house, I should simply sponsor myself for other expenses?

My host has sent:
* Passport data page
* Invitation letter
* Utility bills

I will sponsor myself. I have:
* 6 months payslip
* 6 months bank account statement
* marriage certificate
* Cover letter for my other source of income
* letter from my employer

your docs are good. Just make sure the statement you are supplying have salary entries that tallies with the net figures on the individual payslips supplied. Also make sure your friend inviting you writes a well sesnsible reason why he is inviting you . describing your relationship and how long you have known each other should be mentioned. You should also address your relationship with him on your cover letter aiming at showing keenness towards meeting your best mate and having a good time with him (Infact that's should be the tone on both letters written by you two).concentrating less on visiting the UK and be very emphatic about having a job you enjoy that you are going back to. . If you have anything to show both having a good time(pics) that's not bad to add.. also any evidence of communication will be good to add. If you haven't got these , don't worry at all as they are no deal breakers. Wish you the best.

Hello guys. Great work here.

I have been following the UK visa thread but i cant bring myself to reading all the 344 pages. So here it goes..
I have secured a job in the UK from an A list sponsor who have certified sponsorship for me and my wife. The plan is to apply for the visa together(me and wife).
1.While i would apply for tier 2 general, what type and subtype of visa would she apply for?
2.Do i apply for her or she does by herself?
3.can we submit together?
4.how does that work?
5.asides tb, police report, ielts and marriage certificate and relationship evidence(old pictures and stuff), what else are we going to submit?
6.what means of payment for visa is available...i have a dollar card

1. She would apply for tier 2 dependent visa
2. Her application forms must be separately filled.
3. Of course
4. While filling your visa application form, you would see where to fill you dependents and whether you're travelling together. Write a note at the additional information box too stating her passport number and visa application number. She should fill a separate form too, there would be a place to enter yoir details, and also write a note in the additional information box. Also you will link your application on TLS website and go for appointment together.
5. Nothing else (please note that she does not need IELTS UKVI, only you, the main applicant needs that)
6. You don't even need a dollar card, you can make payments in naira with paga at a good exchange rate (visit their website and open an account then upgrade it to KYC level 3)

Cheers!

Since you send him stipends,have him print the statement for 6 months period,ad like you are planning to do you can still accumulate the suggested figure in that account,a retiree is not expected to have millions in his/her account since he/ she rely solely on pension.......Just address it in your cover letter he's a retiree who get stipends from his children,but do not leave out the printout of the pension remittance,his old documents from work most especially his retirement letter,his property documents if he has one.I am cork sure there wouldn't be any problem

Hello house, I must acknowledge the assistance being given in regards to questions, suggestions and advice. I read back to see if there is something I can relate with but it seems Every application is OYO although very informative. So I will drop my story hoping to get suggestions and advice.

My wife is applying for a visa (6 months), her cousin invited her for a visit which I agreed to because I want her to change weather small and it will give me time to balance well. The cousin will be paying for the trip and other expenses but the issues are as follows.
1.They don't have any evidence of relationship (picture or family name) only few phone calls and chats.
2. My wife is a student and had just recently graduated (last month). She currently doesn't ve any savings in her account. I do send monthly upkeep money for her and sometimes she gets little Cr alert from her family to use for school.
3. The cousin and her kids recently got their visa to join her husband who is working in the UK so I don't know what kinda Visa they ve. Will it be an issue?
4. As the husband will anything be required from me?
5. If there will be need to change sponsor, can I be her sponsor with a savings bank balance of 600k as of now? I'm just a business man. Thank you

1. If friends can invite, I guess cousins can invite. But the status of the "inviter" may count (a few pages back, someone related asking her MP to intervene).
2. Issue. Does she have travel history? Really, could have been a little better if she were a student or working.
3. Issue. Since they left no too long ago, why go visiting them so soon?
4. Depends on if you want to be the sponsor. Do you have children?
5. Issue. You can't spend a good amount of your savings on a courtesy visit or vacation.
My2cents: I suggest you wait and work on your circumstances. Give it at least six months; study this thread, read the refusal letters posted (to get an idea of the usual reasons the ECOs give and make sure those examples will not apply in her case), work on your savings, etc.

2..No she doesn't ve a travel history. I was thinking it wouldn't be an issue since she just finished her final exams.
3. It's not like the visit of going to check up on someone, more like a tourism visit but since she wants to pay for the trip and all, that will also cover accommodation. But do you think it will be better if she just use a hotel booking? Rather than stating she will be accommodated by her cousin?
4. I would prefer to be the sponsor if the amount will do. No we don't ve kids yet.
5. Good point sir. But it's ok, I will recover, business is moving. It's just what I ve in my account currently that I mentioned.
6. Thank you, I appreciate
