Ambient I can't say I understand how you feel, the doctors haven't said anything at all? I won't recommend trado care sha but like I said earlier, I have no clue how to advise in this case. Praying for divine healing for your baby

Enque and Giddyperson hope your girls get well soon. It is well

Burntcoal give her the multivitamin and disregard the rest just to pacify MIL. keep the paracetamol for immunization days. That's when you'll need it. If MIL isn't there don't bother giving her any meds so far she's feeding well with no health issues

Thanks

This was me 3 months ago. It was exhausting
Sorry dear I know exactly how you feel.

Perhaps you should take her back to the hospital
When my son had sepsis/malaria/pneumonia, he was placed on admission for 4 days.
i just fed her the egg and she took it very well and has finally agreed to breastfeed, id go back if she throws up again. Waiting for hubby to come back first.

Some people advise before but what I was told in the hospital and what works for me is after because the paracetamol effects may make the vaccine not as effective

Burntcoal:

tanks so much. pls d paracetamol is it b4 or after d injection n at wat quantity.

Thanks for the tip. Even for me I don't take paracetamol cos I feel it's not effective but I didn't know you could give children ibuprofen

my dear, i have just been shaking my head on all the things i have been reading.

if I say what's on my mind, they will say I have come again.

Giddyperson
please take your baby to the hospital ASAP. sepsis is a life threatening condition that needs to be taken seriously and treated urgently.
I am surprised the hospital sent you home. they should have kept you at the hospital for at least 24 hours to monitor your baby.

enque
please next time, give your child 'baby ibruofen;. (neurofen)
it brings the fever down in record time compared to paracetamol and it avoids situations such as convulsion/seizures.
as soon as the fever reduces, then take the child to the hospital.

cc. all mums
always have a bottle of baby ibruofen (neurofen) in your first aid kit.

fever in children should never be taken lightly and can be due to so many reasons such as immunisation and infection.

once the fever is hovering 37-38degrees and paracetamol isn't working, please use neurofen.
neurofen will bring down the temperature hence preventing a seizure/convulsion (I am speaking from personal experience and also advice I received from experienced health professionals)

it is an over the counter medication that can be used for babies from 3 months.

it can actually be used interchangeably with paracetamol (every 4 hours) for kids older than 12 months.

for kids below 12months with any symptoms of illness, take them to the hospital that same day - worst case scenario, first thing in the morning.

older than 12 months - monitor for 12 hours (max 24 hours) and then take them to the hospital.

with children, the earlier they are treated, the better as things can go from bad to worse very quickly.

That's a picture of the drug.

There are other brands available. Just make sure it's the liquid ibruofen for babies.

Ideally all drugs should be taken with meals. No matter how small the food is - even if its milk or a slice of toast.

Which is why a mum shouldn't wait until when a child is refusing absolutely all meals before taking the child to the hospital.

I didn't know too that ibruofen for children exists until I was given a bottle by the doctor at 4 months (if I remember the age correctly) to administer just in case my child ran a fever after the meningitis immunisation.

I also agree with you that with certain fevers, paracetamol doesn't work. Now that my son is two, I sometimes skip the paracetamol and just administer the neurofen first to bring any temperature down and then give him subsequent doses of paracetamol every 4 hours until I take him to the hospital.

The first time I experienced fever with my son, i gave him paracetamol and when I saw he wasn't getting any better after 4 hours I took him to the hospital.

On getting to the hospital, the triage nurse checked his temperature and asked the last time I gave him paracetamol- I told her. Immediately she went to get a bottle of ibruofen and she gave him the appropriate dosage. I asked her why she was giving him ibruofen when we are going to see the paediatrician anyway and she explained to me how deadly fever is in children and that the time it will take her to pass to my son's medical file to the paediatrician (for example 5 mins) is enough for the child to have a seizure/convulsion.

I saw the paediatrician and I asked further questions. He said the first thing they do at the hospital is to bring down the fever and once that's sorted, then checks and tests can be done to find out the underlying cause of the fever (maybe an infection such as a viral cold, tonsillitis , scarlet fever, etc).

He also told me in future to never to leave the house for the hospital with a child with a high fever and that I should make sure I administer ibruofen first. He explained that the child could easily have a seizure in the car on the way to the hospital and that the higher the fever, the more difficult it becomes to get it down. So a mom needs to be a very proactive from the very first signs of a developing fever. He also explained to me how to use paracetamol and ibruofen interchangeably.

Kpele. Hope she's much better now. Children get extra clingy when they are sick or uncomfortable. Malaria comes with loss of appetite. She'll be fine. Don't have experience with sepsis. Take her back if need be.

How do I 'cup train' my dd

We hv been trying but half of whatever we r drinking ends up on her bib.

Start with little liquid in the cup and you can offer her from your cup. Watch the position of the tip of the cup, make sure it's positioned well on the tip. It may take a while for her to master it because they are used to moving both lips in sucking reflex while taking liquid.
I really don't do sippy cup. The older ones didn't like it so I started giving them water with plastic bottles, my own cup then I started giving them in small cups. By 1 yr, they can hold the cups and drink water without help.

undecided undecided lipsrsealed lipsrsealed Is this some sort of joke or are you for real? Pressing down kwa because it is not properly covered? Issok.

womanofsteel:

Trendytressy its not circumcision at all. When my mum was pressing down my dd clitoris, I actually saw the reason why she did that and I continued from where she stopped when she left till about 3 months. Learn how to do it when she's still around. Its just a gentle press

In newborn girls, the clitoris points out in a way that the labia doesn't cover it hence the pressing which makes it go inside while the labia cover it up

If you don't press it down, the labia may not closeup together there will be space between which is not nice. I can't explain it without pics but your mil is on the right and its not disguised circumcision in any way. Remember in circumcision, there is absence of clitoris.
