HungerBAD:@the bolded, you obviously did not listen out very well. In the far northern rural villages, a strong diabolic rumour was circulated that GEJ and his southern Christian compatriots were trying to reduce the population of the north; the rumours accused GEJ (and even CAN) of being the sponsors of Boko haram to reduce the voting population of the north. They also accused GEJ and the western world (through Bill Gates' foundation) of trying to reduce northern voting population by poisoning northern children through fake immunisation. The saddest part of that irresponsible propaganda was that even a highly educated, enlightened and respected northern leader like Nasir El Rufai was a champion in spreading the damaging ethno-religious propaganda. Consequently, a lot of rural northern parents frantically prevented their kids from getting immunised for diseases like polio; the pfizer case made it even worse. That is why Nigeria still remains one of the only 2 countries globally where polio still exists; it was as a result of an ill-thought dangerous political play. Today the same nonsense is repeating itself down south. But truth be told, it started from the north... |

HungerBAD:You pretended like you were educating us, but couldn't hide your bias. Anyway, people being scared of the army has nothing to do with a Buhari or a Jonathan, neither is it a nothern nor a southern issue. It is based deeply on what the army physically represents. Right from when the army has been deployed into the streets, people have seen first hand their ugly and negative sides. To the common man, they are brutal people. They only derive pressure in torturing and tormenting people. They consider a citizen as a "bloody civilian". The fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution are non existence where the army is involved. It explains why people who should normally appreciate and embrace the army are avoiding them like lepers. It should serve as an open call to the army to be civil toward the citizenry in their dealings. I for one always avoid the army like a plague. This is because, if you tell them "thank you", they will misinterpret that you are abusing them. They are very terrible people to deal with. |

My only concern is why would such exercise be carried out without the consent of the parents, no information or whatsoever? I think this is the part that scared everyone. |

The myopic and nepotistic actions of this government using the military as a tool has made majority of nigerians mistrust the army. What a shame. This government is hell bent on destroying national institutions with their colossal stupidity. By God's grace the nation will outlive and survive this regime. Nigeria will be great again. Our army will be respected and loved |

HungerBAD:It seems anyone can just take pictures of children returning from school and term it "parents withdrawing their children from school for fear of army vaccination" see the post and how the guy termed it "army invade school" without any supporting evidence. Seun and his moderators are culpable for sending 'junk' posts to the front-page. The army had said it over and over that they aren't carrying out any immunization programme. What joy do some people reap in selling bad news? |

HungerBAD:The truth is that the people of the South South n East see NA as enemy because of the bitter experience they have had with NA in the past. They have no trust in them and that's why they can take any rumour concerning NA to be true. I believe there should have been proper sensitization before such exercise would be carried out. They should better suspend it for now. |

The reasons people give to justify everything this administration does beat the imagination! We're all aware of what happens when a family member is to be operated upon, we're required to consent because of the risk involved. How does one justify that my child is injected with the vaccine of which I am not informed? How do I handle any side effect, fever, headache etc? Am I not supposed to give my consent? Am I not supposed to keep a record of the vaccination for future reference? Nigeria is sick, so also many people who prefer to reason through their anus. Every argument in this country is viewed from a political angle, yet we are members of a supposedly ONE NIGERIA! God have mercy. |

This is simply a lack of trust in the Nigerian army....It's not surprising cos the army is most times associated with all the negative things you can think of, especially activities involving "bloody civilians" (as they call us) ..... The reactions have nothing to do with illiteracy or ignorance as most people allege....Infact, the timing is wrong in itself...People av not gotten over the series of crisis that occurred last month ...The child that was shot by the army in Imo during the market demolition is still fresh in our minds and many more despicable acts....Nigerian soldiers gat no chill; they're too temperamental...Not cool leaving kids around such pple No mother would gamble with her child's life especially not with a nameless vaccine....A typical mother's thought for this scenario is "rumor or no rumor; let my child be abeg" |
